will get it confirmed regarding the passort etc Article 6 A player, who, under the terms of art. 5, is eligible to represent more than one association on account of his nationality, may play in an international match for one of these associations only if, in addition to holding the relevant nationality, he fulfils at least one of the following conditions etc etc so PLV under article 5 (Principles) he must be eligible to represent more than 1 association to reach Article 6 need someone to do a flowchart on it Ok thanks, I've tried reading article 6 but needed an asprin afterwards! Well it sets an interesting precedent then as I've never known a player from any of the UK nations being able to pick a player from outside UK for their team qualifying through grandparent heritage(can't think of any anyway, though its common in rugby), assuming it was do to the passport issue so off limits. If they actually can that would certainly open up a new avenue for player selection as must be numerous scattered around the world with a single welsh grandparent.

Welsh rugby could learn from football - at the moment we are losing some of our brightest young prospects to England! We are talking about 20 year olds born and raised in Cardiff, Haverfordwest and Aberyswyth. Very sad

It’ll be interesting to see what George Feeney, Glentoran’s call-up, does next. Already played competitively for NI’s u17s, so if he plays for us in qualifiers he’s tied to us. All the article’s I’ve seen suggests he wants NI, seems strange therefore that he’s with us. All I can think of is that perhaps he’s using us as I warning to NI in an attempt to get future call-ups.
Highly rated apparently, though. Be nice to keep as many eligible players in our system as we can. Son of Warren.

I always feel a bit uncomfortable calling up players who so explicity should be playing for another country. Its the same with Scott Banks, the lad is so obviously Scottish what’s he doing playing for us?!
I realise that over half our squad qualify thanks to sometimes distant relatives, but when the nations are similarly populated rather than England with its vast population and resources, it does feel a bit different.
I’m sure Feeney is a great little player but again, calling up a player from the Northern Irish league when the national set ups wouldn’t even dream of calling up a Cymru Premier player rankles a little.

Banks definitely won’t be playing for us. No idea what happened when there was some talk about him coming over to us but, as you say, he’s got way more links to Scotland than us. On the other hand,I’ve no idea how good Feeney is but he’s got just as many links to Wales as NI. Yes his dad is Irish and he lives there now but he was born here and lived here for part of his life. At least one of his Grandparents are Welsh too.

Going slightly off topic the one i can't get my head around is the boy Archie Gray at Leeds.
Whilst I realise he was born in England he has tremendous Scottish lineage.
I presume in x amount of years we could be talking in the same way about the offspring of Dan James or Ethan Ampadu etc.

Caught the last 15 mins, Welsh keeper looked decent. What a beautiful setting for a football match.

Looks like we might have the answer to our goalkeeping problems. Very impressive display from Oscar Abbotson.

He had a great tournament and made it in to the team of the tournament? He was a very decent shot stopper! He always looked a bit small though.
