Solid performance from Wales U21. 2-1 against Lithuania. Lewis Koumas did well get the winner off the bench for us. Looked a good threat for us. Colwill bagged a goal and lovely assist too.
Luca Hoole stoodout for me. Physical, good on the ball and really dominant committing himself to winning the ball. Jumping in a bit but reminded me of Rodon.

Lewis Koumas like his dad has the exceptional gift of quick feet
Saw him running before and like his dad the ball seemed tied to his feet Tonight - the way he adjusted his feet so quickly for the shot took the keeper (and all of us) by surprise.
Not many top players have such quick feet - its a massive gift. Really great to see such quality
Then you have the enigma that is Colwill - looks like a man with exceptional skill playing against his kids at this level sometime - such vision, quality and skill. I just do not understand how it does not click for him in first team football - its bizarre.

I certainly feel that we are going to see another Allen in our U21s VERY soon. Crus is cutting the Swedish defense up for fun, spraying cross-field passes and taking shots on from 20m.
We are badly missing Brayden Clarke in defense - who picked up an injury very late in the last game. Even before the Swedish goal, Luis Lines already made 3 very good saves and Iestyn Jones cleared one off the line...

We must have given away at least ten corners and same number of fouls in our half - just in the first half. Struggling to cope with their physicality. Almost men v boys. But for some heroics from Luis Lines, we could have already been 3-0 down.
Allen, Bostock and Myles are really promising prospects as is Jac Thomas on the left flank

Brilliant cross from Jac Thomas for the goal from Ronan Kpakio, the sub, who did well with pushing up-field to counter the Genesis threat in the second half!
Jake Davies has one serious LOOOONG throw. Probably better than C Roberts, even.
Credit to the lads, they really battled on to the last minute and were very close to equalising.
With Romania and Bulgaria ending 0-0, I imagine that even a draw on Tuesday v Bulgaria will get us to Cyprus. A win will virtually guarrentte it.

@dragonsoccer is there a reason as to why the FAW have not yet published the squad list for the u16 tournament

Does anyone have any idea where the U21's will be streamed tomorrow? I just read it will be against Morocco's U23 squad.

Is that a good goalkeeper prospect I see? x.com/onlyswanss/status/1772358749975396644?s=46Very impressive distribution, although he looked very dodgy for the u17s out in Hungary last summer and was responsible for a couple of goals. Has the perfect (albeit slightly treacherous!) coach in his old man!

MASSIVE game tomorrow morning 10am v Bulgaria, out in Romania. A draw could probably be enough to go to the Euros Final in Cyprus (as 7/8 2nd placed qualify). Could be a lot of celebrating going on tomorrow!

I can't find a live stream of the Bulgaria game? Anyone?
Good to see Brayden Clarke back in the starting line up. Iestyn Jones is on the bench.

0-0 after 50 mins, but we’ve been by far the better side according to the stats on the UEFA website, 11 shots to 1 & 5 corners to nil.

2-1 win. Finished a point behind Sweden in the end as they drew with Romania. Excellent stuff from this age group in recent years.

Cyprus will stage the 2024 UEFA European Under-17 Championship finals from 20 May to 5 June. The final tournament draw is on Wednesday 3 April.
Now, finding a flight from Cyprus to Slovakia after 5 June ;-)

I'm completely confused by the whole u21 format. When we qualified last year, I think we had to go through a preliminary round before the qualifiers proper, and only after progressing through those two rounds did we qualify for the finals. I assumed this set of fixtures was the fir round this year, but have we qualified for the actual finals - and is that on par with the tournament in Hungary last year? So have we just qualified for our third ever youth tournament?
Edit - this confirms that we've qualified for the u17 Euro Champs. Are they held every year? Am I missing something?

YES - QUALIFICATION ASSUREDNot all games have finished, but Slovakia, in group 4 - already have a negative goal difference and their game is over. I never thought that I would ever say this ... But, thank you Ukraine! They beat Slovakia 3-0 ...
We are going to Cyprus
UPDATE As things stand, Slovakia may well join us in Cyprus, as currently GERMANY is losing 1-2 to Portugal, with 15' to go. They may well end up staying AT HOME all Summer ;-)

That's a fantastic achievement. Brings them through as a group and hopefully cements their commitment.
Annual event.
Notice that Ireland and Scotland (or NI) didn't qualify and I've thought in recent years that the first 2 in particular were developing a bit of a production line in youth prospects so underlines how well the Welsh lads have done.

We are going to Cyprus Ah 8 group winners + Cyprus as hosts plus 7 best 2nd placed teams in group presumably? Hence Slovakia below us means we're at least 7th best? and therefore qualify.

Correct. Although, unless things change dramatically in the other groups - GERMANY (and Croatia) are the ones staying home - Both of them ending with 4 points.
CONGRATULATIONS, SLOVAKIA ;-)
