There are a lot of sensitivities here about being described as British or having British attitudes. Haven't you picked up on that yet? It reminds me of our Dutch friends who we had to continually chastise for using the word "shit" around our kids. To the Dutch it means nothing. Context is everything. If you're not careful I might start on about the "luck of the Oirish". At least that would have some justification... As someone who has lived in UK for many years and worked in Maes Y Coed rd / staying in Masons Arms I would not use the British bit about anybody Welsh or Scottish........................ its just insulting and looking at winding up. Only time ever use is for the Little Englander when remind them that House of Commons is not an English parliment etc.

Telling us that we are 'British' and must class ourselves as such is a joke and adds nothing. Mocking 'our' queen when a lot of us have strong views that distance ourselves from the English crown is also nothing short of pathetic. I'm sorry what are these clowns adding apart from bullshit. Don't tell us how our forum should operate you have YBIG, do what you like over there. 'Typical British' what? What on earth are you talking about?! I was responding to post which was more or less questioning why Irish people were posting on it as it's a Welsh forum. It reminded me of that zenophobic 'Britain for the British' type of attitude, that other posters weren't welcome unless they were Welsh. I wasn't implying anything about the Monarchy/Royals or trying to throw a barb in any way so you've completely taken that the wrong way. By the way I consider Welsh people Welsh and a distinct nation within Britain, just as I do England and Scotland. The Queen thing was from another poster, as was the we must call ourselves 'British' nonsense.

Apologies to our Irish friends on this forum in advance for the football banter, but I think it's something along the lines of:
"Dewch ymlaen Denmarc, currwch y Gwyddelod. Rhowch gweir i rheiny sydd ar y fforwm ybig yn Iwerddon. Mi allwch chi wneud hyn".
Mine is the polite version 😉
Is there a prize for getting this right? 🤗

I generally understand what you're getting at here (although it took several readings, google translate and our lovely language don't exactly get along) but just a gentle informing that you've translated "come on Denmark" in an unfortunately literal manner if you catch my drift

Looks as if the Welsh on here are just like the Scottish in the last campaign (i.e. Rooting for anyone that plays Ireland because you're pissed you finished below us) and this was evident on Sky Sports poll which has the highest result labelled as "neither Ireland qualifies" which seems odd on SSN but then I remember the bitter Scots and Welsh out there are realise. All I say is grow up ye were kicking us when we were down in September when we got 2 crap results so now since you loved giving it last month you are now expected to take it this month. I'm trying to be a WUM but I need to say something and I will probably be banned for saying this but I said what I had to say. For the record I'm not a one eyed nut job (I do expect Denmark to edge us over 2 legs sadly) but over 10 games us and Serbia were the 2 best teams clearly so a little respect would go a long way.

I'll fully admit to that. However I have not seen many respectful comments towards us on ybig since this campaign started. When the draw was made, I remember reading how 'Wales are the worst top seeds ever', 'we're lucky we got Wales instead of one of the other top seeds', 'Wales just got lucky in the Euro's', 'They are basically shit like Scotland without Bale', 'Wales are overated' etc etc etc. A lot of it was quite belittling stuff towards us. So basically, no, you're not getting much respect, because none was shown towards us at the start and throughout the campaign. I told myself I wouldn't respond to anymore posts on this thread, but your last few words couldn't be ignored.

A lot of what is said on here is in jest and is just football banter and as it is an open forum for Welsh supporters (although anyone who wishes to respectfully contribute is also welcome), I don't see anything wrong with that. Many of us have or have started to move on, although some are still annoyed with the manner in which the game was played and won, but not so much with the result itself. Such is football. We have had a lot of very disrespectful rival fans coming on here in recent days to gloat about the result, telling us we're Brits- not Welsh, making sheep jokes etc. And all this before the play-offs have even begun. It was a similar story during the Euros too. A lot of bitterness displayed because our team had the audacity to reach the semi-finals and we were joyous for them. And we're still getting it thick and fast, despite a slump in form over this last campaign. But I don't see why we should have to put up with it to be honest and I don't agree that we "owe" anyone respect solely due to a football result (especially given the way the game was played if you understand my meaning). I don't recall getting this level of strife from other rivals - not even some of the "hardcore" English fanbase tbf. And that is saying a lot. You are entitled to your opinion, but let's keep it respectful - and move on from the bitter comments.

Aye I'm sure the 3 million Welsh people are the driving force behind those Sky Sports poll results.

Why are we continuing with this debate? The game was a week last Monday. We lost and we (Welsh fans) are very disappointed, as much by our own failure as the Neanderthal tactics of ROI and the pathetic ref. Time to move on, hope Denmark do the business and (I hope) gain revenge in the Nations League next year. Ymlaen Cymru!

Beidh dioltas ag dul a bheith milis. No more than Welsh I'm sure, Gaeilge doesn't sit well with google translate though it's good for getting a general gist of what someone's saying. You wouldn't say "na Gaeilge" in reference to the Irish people, that's the word for the language. The Irish people would be "na h-Éireannach" or "daoine na h-Éireann" (literally people of Ireland). And yeah as someone else pointed out you've used quite a literal "come on" there What you're probably looking for instead is: An Danmhairg abú! Bualadh na h-Éireannach! (Come on Denmark! Beat the Irish!) Glacadh mé sult mór as bpostáil ar YBIG i ndiaidh an cliuche má caileann siad. (I'll take great pleasure in posting on YBIG if they lose the match) Not that you actually care but the Gaeilgóir in me was twitching reading yours
