3 goals in ten minutes away from home. With Reading and QPR drawing it was a much needed three points, I think 48 points will keep them up so either 3 draws or a win from the last 4 games, Reading won't have Carroll for the next game.

Great win last night, has Sabri who has been in charge about 3 months now won over the fan base because mixed feelings over his appointment. Has he delivered on what you want i rate him has a coach and imo he is one of the good guys in football.

Great win last night, has Sabri who has been in charge about 3 months now won over the fan base because mixed feelings over his appointment. Has he delivered on what you want i rate him has a coach and imo he is one of the good guys in football. Very difficult to judge him as a manager to be honest. Some wonderful results and good performances mixed in with some dire stuff. For example, Swansea City scoring in the last minute with two/three of their attackers reacting more quickly than any Cardiff defender? That doesn't suggest good things about players or coaching side. But injuries, players low confidence after difficult season, pressure of table position and too many players simply needing coaching up which is always difficult in Championship with games coming so frequently. Playing style is a bit more Steve Morison 2021-2022 than Steve Morison 2022-2023. Best person for the job now, and comes across as a good bloke, but jury is still out for longer term.

Fair and balance opinion what did for him at Forest was the pandemic thats when all sorts of crazy results across all leagues started to kick in. Hope he is given the chance to take the team forward next season if given a pre season with the squad. i think he could be good for your younger players as he improved local lads at Forest.

Now mathematically safe, but still no starts for Colwill or Davies

Give Lamouchi a pre-season, a transfer window and a chance to shape his own squad and hopefully he'll start to give some of the Welsh lads a chance but not because they're Welsh, because they're hopefully good enough.

Nathan Blake on the BBC website saying what we've all been saying for months, the whole structure and philosophy at the club needs to change.

Another example of players making mistakes that should not happen, laughable .

I mean if he's not playing them now it's hard to see him giving them more opportunities after he's signed a bunch of players.

Lamouchi's record:
Total: 17 games played (with an 18th to play), 6 wins, 2 draws, 9 defeats. 20 points from potential 51, 1.18 points per game (ppg) Home record: 8 played, 2 wins, 2 draws, 4 defeats. Away record: 9 played (with 1 more game to come), 4 wins, 0 draws, 5 defeats.
Morison's total record: 10 played, 3 wins, 2 draws, 5 defeats. 11 points from potential 30, 1.1 ppg. Hudson's total record: 17 played, 4 wins, 6 draws, 7 defeats. 18 points from potential 51, 1.06 ppg.
Last season finished with some genuine hope for the future (Morison wanting to focus on youth, attracting good loan players, wanting better style of football) and this season, so far, ends on "mission accomplished" in testing circumstances. However, doesn't that still suggest the mission this season was merely to finish top of the bottom 6?
Lamouchi has improved Etete and NG now looks more comfortable in back 3 now which suggests Lamouchi is okay at developing players. We can only hope Colwill has better luck next season, Davies is managed better and Eli King gets further chances.
I'm just not wholly convinced by style or tone of any of our managers this season. Reading fans said that relegation has been developing for 5 years and I fear that whoever the manager we'll be making similar comments this time next year unless things seriously improved.

Don’t forget Lamouchi was having to manage the crap players that Morrison brought to the Club.

Lamouchi ends with 20 points from potential 54, 1.11 points per game (ppg).
A greater number of wins and defeats than Hudson, a marginally better ppg than Morison this season albeit in Autumn of the season onwards with a squad low on confidence.
I dread to think who else would be wanting the job though.
We go into the summer with: 2xGK, 4xCB, 2xRB, 1xLB, 5xCM, 1xAM, 2xRM, 1xLM, 3xST. 17 players so a bit of wiggle room to get up to minimum of 22 players ready for senior football. RB, LB, RM, LM obvious needs for us but first to sort out i) who manager will be and ii) potential transfer embargo rulings.

Colwill and Davies got a half each .

Disappointed to see that Colwill failed to take his chance today after being given a start. Iwan Roberts was scathing of him and Cardiff as a whole at half time, saying that Colwill basically did nothing apart from messing up Cardiff's best chance of the half. He was then replaced by Davies at half time. This is getting concerning now. I have faith in his ability, but the lower leagues are littered with players who have the ability but were never able to make it for whatever reason (injuries, luck, confidence and attitude etc.). Next season is make or break for him.

If I was held at gunpoint and asked if I think he'll make it I'd have to say no but he's shown glimpses of pure genius and I've clung to that in the hope that they will become more regular and define him.

Would’ve been in League One had it not been for Reading’s six point deduction late on this season.

Also if I am not mistaken Wigan also had points deducted. Wigan deducted 3 points. Reading won 3 league games since Christmas Day and picked up 18 points (later reduced to 12) with their final win of the season on 25/02/23. City picked up 23 points in same time period with additional pressure of playing 8 games in April.

Another relegation scrap beckons and, with the strength of teams coming from League 1, I'd be surprised if Cardiff stay up
One hell of a summer is needed to sort out that mess of a squad

City's u21s conclude the season with an all-Welsh squad and a 4-2 win over Crewe. Several of the players off to Hungary with the u17s involved today

Would’ve been in League One had it not been for Reading’s six point deduction late on this season. Reading deducted 6 points and Cardiff finished 5 points above them. Had they needed a point from the last 2 games I believe they would have got it. A point would have likely sufficed as a much better goal difference heading in to last 2 games. It was a crap season no doubt but think we'd have stayed up even if Reading hadn't been deducted points.

Am aware Wigan finished some way behind but they had the points deduction just when they were on a run of form and were closing the gap. Hard to quantify what affect that had on subsequent performances.

Am aware Wigan finished some way behind but they had the points deduction just when they were on a run of form and were closing the gap. Hard to quantify what affect that had on subsequent performances. I imagine that not being paid on time multiple times in a season (the reason for points deduction) had large impact on performances than taking a knock to points total. The "Reading were 5 points behind and lost 6 points" comment is a bit like when Aston Villa stayed up due to one goal when there had been an instance of goal-line technology failure go in their favour two years back in premier league. The final table positions are decided over a full season rather than one moment, but it does create a bit of pressure for next year with risk of what a 'delayed relegation' means. A way too early read suggests that there isn't a Blackpool, Reading or Wigan on the cards next year. Every side will be experienced in the Championship and more able to weather the long season. Am I right in saying in all but one of the last ten years that 49 points would see survival in that league? My early prediction is that next year will be one of the outliers and higher points total needed.

Looks like Lamouchi is gone
If he plays a game next season then Rubin Colwill will have played under 6 different managers since making his first team debut in February 2021
Hardly ideal circumstances for youth development
