Very strange decision. Tan is an odd one. Nathan Jones would be the only appointment I could see that would make me feel any sort of confidence going into the season

I wouldn't say that Lamouchi was an exciting prospect but I can't see anyone being better than him for next year given our circumstances.
Can't remember if Malky was hired under Tan or not (was it TG as owner but Tan on the scene as money man?) but the series of managerial hires since haven't been good.
I reckon only Slade and Neil Harris were successes in terms of being brought in at the right time and being let go at the right time. Everyone else was either disaster from the start or good but kept on far too long and without plan for their successor until too late so always playing catch-up.

It seems like a lifetime ago now but Dean Smith never gets the credit he deserves for the work and foundations he laid at Brentford, he'll almost certainly be available this summer and maybe Cardiff represent the kind of challenge his managerial career needs right now to get back on track?

Nathan Jones would be the only appointment I could see that would make me feel any sort of confidence going into the season I would agree, but given how highly wound and intense both during the 90mins and in general, I would generally be worried for his health if he was in charge of his boyhood club.

The club is so down in the dumps I think a bit of passion would actually lift a lot of the fan base, and given he culturally understands the club/area I think fans would be a bit more patient with him than other clubs. So it could go either way I think

Tan has always employed managers with no quality , Warnock was the only one who has proved himself in the role, so it's no surprise the club has struggled since and the financial state of affairs has shown that, it's unqualified people making decisions that effects what happens on the pitch. I would get an old head manager with a young progressive coach, like the guy Selles at Southampton.

Steve Morison linked with a comeback Such a bizarre club Yeah I saw that. Surely this can’t be true? Other than one or two players (at a push) his signings were catastrophically bad.

If things dont go well for Bradford City would it be worth Cardiff making an approach for Mark Hughes, also a suggestion for his number 2 being Rob Earnshaw who has is coaching badges and always comes across as a class act when working as a pundit.

What Cardiff City are looking for is someone willing to work with a team fourth from bottom who are still under a transfer embargo, willing to work under Vincent Tan/willing to work without a football structure away from the pitch and willing to work miles away from London.
That rules out a lot of managers with potential who don't want to risk their career by being sacked after 3 months and it rules out a lot of modern managers who recognise strengths of not having to field all the difficult questions.
It will no doubt attract a lot of chancers.
Arguably Mark Hughes is better off staying at Bradford, getting them promoted and making the mess at Southampton seem a distant memory. And if we're not a obvious choice for a League 2 manager, then you can see why we're in trouble.
What we do have is a decent fanbase, lots of potential for growth as a club and young players who look like they might have good potential.

I don't see why they can't be looking at possible managers from a certain radius within two hours drive of Cardiff, that covers S.Wales, Midlands and Bristol areas, and I think Sparky is based in Cheshire these days, but interesting choice with Ernie.

Strange one. Doesn't have a particularly good record at his former clubs. Tan citing experience as to why he's been chosen, but surely there are managers out there with more than 200 games under their belts who were interested
Feels like a massive throw of the dice

City could easily have gone for the usual merry-go-round manager types like Pulis, Hughton, Pardew etc but I’m glad that they didn’t. It is a gamble mind, no doubt about it, but I’m looking forward to seeing if it comes off.

It's an interesting one, properly came out of nowhere
In fairness, one of the few things the club does very well these days is keeping things quiet. This guy wasn't mentioned at all until about an hour before the club announced the appointment, more professional than the old days when the messageboards knew every appointment before the owners!

But agree it’s a throw of the dice. Hopefully he will bring huge enthusiasm and some hidden gems of unknown players with him.

Can’t help but feel that the Portuguese fella would have been a better option, with all those players at Chaves out of contract and his relative success on a small budget

Definitely not coincidence. He's not been good enough. Hard for him particularly when he's just finding his feet in the men's game, but same goes for any of the players to develop any bit of consistency when there's been three different gaffers in charge in one season.
League 1 move would do him good.

Just want Colwill to have a full season under his belt. If the manager plans on using him then he can stay and he's probably good enough to play at the low end of the Championship in the right system. Just hope the manager wants to use him. If he doesn't then a loan to League One makes sense. Minutes are king!

Any truth in the rumours Ramsey may return to Cardiff? Any hope of him returning is surely over after this recent appointment, it's a race between him and Post...... at Spurs to see who lasts longest, I think they'll both be out of a job by November.

What are you basing your opinion on ? His record is better than most people think. He has been called a great tactician by several Turkish journalists ok he says his teams don’t play tikka takka style football but that’s never been City’s style anyway. he took relatively unknown Turkish sides to European football and also won the Turkish cup. That’s like Dundee winning a trophy in Scotland it rarely happens. There has been talk of Ramsey wanting to “ come home” so who knows. It certainly can’t be any worse than Steve Morrison

Any truth in the rumours Ramsey may return to Cardiff? Incredibly I’ve just seen that the Club are confident of selling out their home allocation of season tickets ( 18,000). That really would be something special considering the crap last few seasons they have had. Current sales are almost 13k Dalman said a very exciting signing will be announced shortly so who knows.
