The poor effort is we are strugling to sell out. Compared to 5 yrs ago it's an amazing effort but if you compare to last attendance it's poor. Think this game would of got 50,000 at millennium, whether that is better or worse is a different argument Anyway really looking forward to it We had sold roughly the same amount of tickets by this point for the Spain game. A late surge took it over 50k.

Personally, I feel a full 32k stadium is great, whoever the opponent / type of game.
Nonetheless, I would have liked to have seen them sell out a month ago ... or even better, to have sold more than 11,500 TT this time around. Maybe after we lift the cup in Wembley in 2020 - Rambo scoring the winner, of course ;-)

I dont think so. Tickets were selling very slowly on the WRU website before the FAW stopped selling them. It wasnt until the last 4 or 5 days that they picked up dramatically. Some people just like to leave these things to the last minute I guess.

I have to admit that I'm really disappointed that this game hasn't been more in-demand. It will be a sell-out, but given what's at stake it should have been a sell-out immediately after the Ireland win.
The question of whether a 32k turnout is a good turnout depends on what you benchmark it against. As others have said, if you benchmark it against 10 years ago then it's brilliant. However, if you benchmark it against the rugby, then it's really disappointing. Statistics show that there is more interest in football than rugby in Wales and yet we struggle to get a 32k turnout for a massive match in football while we easily get twice as much in rugby against teams we play every year (Scotland) or the likes of Tonga. I know the event junkies are a large part of it, but I also know anecdotally that there are a lot of footie fans from all over Wales who don't show any interest in the national team. I can't pretend that that doesn't get to me.

During Euro 2016 I met a lot of event junkies or let's be honest 'Rugby types' who will be on board once again in 2012. I listen to Radio Wales on a regular basis as I am driving around North Wales due to my my work, or en route to Cardiff for the home matches. The Tonga and and Scotland rugby matches are mentioned consistently whereas the Denmark home match gets a whisper.Historically, it does feel that that the Welsh sporting press are overwhelmingly biased towards rugby, and yes,as the previous post mentions we are more of a football nation rather than rugby geographically but the media PR/SPIN machine seems biased towards the egg,or am I being cynical and old ?

To be fair Toffeeman I assumed the Everton fan at Lyon was an "event junkie" as Everton had been seen into his Welsh flag in such a way it meant the dragon was facing the wrong way!!

I’m not a fan of the Millennium but I’d reluctantly accept it If supply and demand meant the Cardiff City stadium isn’t big enough anymore, wouldn’t be so keen if it was a case of moving because people will only go if it’s at Millennium but won’t buy tickets to non-sold out games at CCS.

It’s a Friday night in Cardiff, is it the opposition the causal fans don’t fancy or is it because it Novemeberfest for these guys with the rugby?

I can't pretend that that doesn't get to me. I don't get the whole 'IT'S A MASSIVE MATCH'. It's a nothing game really, it might be beneficial in the future but we won't know that for another 12 months. Promotion to League A in the grand scheme of things doesn't really matter. Also, it is near enough a sell out now with just three rows in the whole stadium having more than single seats only, and extra tickets have been released from the Denmark end. We have sold more tickets for this than what watched Leicester's win yesterday. Rugby in Wales is an event, why you get women in their 20s down the pub for it, they don't give a sod about the sport.

to have sold more than 11,500 TT this time around.
The FAW messed up by including the first 4 home games next year in it really. I am sure they will put the tournament ticket on sale again in the New Year, or maybe in time for Christmas.

I'm indifferent on a return to the millennium although I'd love to be in the position where the demand dictated it. We're not there and as this nations league develops credibility then the additional tournament reduces the likelihood I think. Next year we'll could have 5 home games with 4 probably against modest opposition.
5 home games in a calendar year must be closed to saturation. By and large football fans are not eventers, they've other football to follow Cardiff, Swansea, County, Wrexham, the non leagues and Everton apparently. So from that point of view the CCS should be fine for next year. Promotion in the nations league would bring a couple of attractive fixtures the following year. That's post the next euros, anything could have happened by then.
The next 12 / 13 months will be the year of the draws. Euro qualification in Dec. 2022 world cup qualification in July. Euro play off draws in Nov, Euro finals in Dec and the next nations league in Jan 2020.

Yes, the stadium is itself is still a massive draw as the Spain game showed (wouldnt have had much more than 25k if we had played it at the CCS).

I agree with you - only think we should return if the demand is there. It shows the only way to get he south east wales football fans out of their seats is to okay a big name at the millennium so it’s more of an event like the rugby.
