Alot of the criticism on here is overtly harsh, if we had taken one of our chances in the first half it could have been a very different outcome. I thought we played well on the whole but reading alot of these comments you'd think i saw a different game.

Surely we should fire the goalkeeping coach then? What is he going through with Hennessey all week? Positioning and footwork should be basic goalkeeper qualities. It is unfair, I think, to blame the failings of a 31 year old player on a coach who only gets a few week a year to work with him. So then should the coach be arguing with Giggs to put Ward in? Hennessey is playing the matches cause he’s the best we’ve got.

I disagree, we created a lot of good chances but I never felt like we were in control of the game. They just looked so much better set up. Everytime we had the ball they pressed us well and we looked rushed. Every time they had the ball they had as much time as they wanted and were able to easily get the ball into dangerous positions. They then sat deep to protect their lead after their goal which is why the possession stats makes us look like we were more in control than we actually were.

Hennessey is playing the matches cause he’s the best we’ve got. As I said before, I agree that he might be the best we’ve got. That’s not my point. The coach could perhaps that Hennessey adopt a deeper starting position if he’s unwilling to rush out of his box as he could have done to prevent the first goal. Of course, that then has the knock-on effect of affecting how high you can play your defensive line.

I will still consider that if we had scored we may have gone onto win it may have been very different comments on here, although tbh even then you guys will still be picking at the bones.

We can take a lot from this match, namely it has shown us that we need an anchor behind Allen and Ramsey, (Smith or Ampadu) from the start home or away. We also desperately need an out and out striker and at the moment Tyler doesn't fit the bill. He is only 19 and may get better but at the moment he does not start in future games. Vokes may have to come back in, or we play Bale up top. Chester and Williams do not have the pace to deal with counter attacks when we lose the ball and Mepham has to start when fit, with Rodon blooded in at some point.
Giggs has no desire to play for draws which is admirable but come with problems. Our win ratio could increase if done right but we cannot afford to miss goal opportunities. It's refreshing to watch such open games but is filled with risk and can look utterly reckless at times.
