Slovakia squad seems unbalanced. Pekarik at RB with 85 caps the most experienced defender. Skriniar the star CB. Other than that none of their CB options have more than 6 caps. The only LB in the squad is uncapped and apparently a surprise inclusion in the squad. The midfield is their strong point, plenty of experience. We all know Hamsik, but Duda the one to watch out for. Scored against us in the Euros, has 9 goals in 17 games in the Bundesliga this season. They'll almost certainly play 5 across the midfield. Up front they're light, with Zrelak out injured. Likely that Duris will start (5 goals in 41 caps). Has 8 goals this season in the Cypriot first division. Excellent research. I'm curious where you got your info from on the current squad, as I've struggled to find out info on their squad for their double-header against Hungary and ourselves. I think it's on wiki - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slovakia_national_football_team
They do have pretty dire options up front. At least we have Bale, Vokes, Roberts, Lawrence, D James who can fill that role for us.

I remember Mak being a good player too...

Their midfield of Hamsik, Duda and Kucka isn't going to be a walk in the park to play against. They have lots of experience and will certainly gear their style of play around getting the best out of these three, so I expect them to try and keep the ball and take the sting out of the game with a lot of slow build up play. Their winger Robert Mak also has 50 caps and plays for Zenit so he could be a threat too. The midfield battle will be crucial, but I do think that our ability to break on them when we win possession is something they won't be able to match. An early goal for us could really make it difficult for them for the rest of the 90. Apart from Allen and Ramsey we haven't really got much experience in midfield, it could prove to be difficult to move the ball around and win that midfield battle... I'm hopeful that we'll be alright.

I'm going to go 4-2-3-1.
Hennessey Roberts-Mepham-Williams-Davies Allen-Ampadu Brooks-Ramsey-James Bale
Ramsey making it a 3 in midfield when out of possession. I think the game against Man City was Dan James's opportunity to move above Wilson/Lawrence in the pecking order, and I think he took that opportunity with both hands. I'm more inclined to judge James's inclusion based on that game rather than the Albania game. Partly because Albania were dropping deep leaving no space in behind, and I don't think Slovakia will be dropping off like that. The pace of Brooks-Bale-James just seems so 'Giggs-like' to me, and it will make their defence a lot more nervy.
Subs to come on would be Smith for Ampadu around 60 mins. Wilson for James around 70. And depending on whether we need a goal, or are holding on to a result possibly Gunter for Roberts, or one of Vokes/Lawrence/T.Roberts/Matondo depending on what we need.

I think they are likely to dominate most of the midfield, we have only controlled the midfield in two matches and that's against Ireland. I'm just hoping Ramsey and Allen remain fit because losing one of them would be a nightmare.

Its annoying having to move for late comers when you're trying to sing and build an atmosphere as well. Pain in the arse.

Only in Welsh football you can have 6 drop outs just before the international break, what the absolute hell is going on?

That would put Slovakia level on paper with us, if not a tad better. Balls.

Ramsey owes Arsenal nothing so I hope if it is very minor he just ignores any club advice

I've probably jinxed it, posted an hour ago saying losing Allen or Ramsey would be a nightmare. Looks like it may be true.
Hopefully Ramsey just rested for Trinidad.
Will be gutting to lose Brooks, Ampadu and Lawrence. I think we need Brooks desperately right now.

How is Ampadu even injured? He hasn't even played for Chelsea for weeks.
And I bet T Lawrence will be back for Derby next week, a joke. A big miss for us.
When will this injury record stop? Just seems relentless every time there's an international fixture.

Combination of wikipedia and articles in the Slovak press. I think a lot depends on how confident Slovakia are. We've seen a lot of teams come to Cardiff in recent years and sit deep, make us try and break them down. In that situation our pace isn't much use. Just seen on Sky Sports that Ramsey is out for T&T, but will play on Sunday.

If Giggs selects the right starting eleven and formation we’ll win, 2 or 3 to 1.
Bale is coming into form and has a point to prove and Ramsey is playing well with his move to look forward to. The young startlets, especially Brooks will be keen to impress. The squad has all the ingredients to be successful and with the disappointment of the last campaign their nerve will be strengthened. They'll be desperate to get off to a good start at home and the crowd will be right behind them.

When was the last time we had Bale, Ramsey, and Allen all fit?
Given the tales we've been told in the past about players, I'm expecting Ramsey to be out on Sunday.
1-1.
2-1 if Ramsey plays.
