Sorry, if it's been raised before now, but just read over on goal.com transfers that Wrexham have a home grown defender in Cleworth🤔 His wiki bio says born over in Chester, and I don't think I remember his name mentioned in the Cymru youth thread. Ineligible

Nelson Sanca starting for Newport today. 17 years old, born in Portugal. Has played for our schoolboys, so has spent sometime here, at the very least. Is he eligible for us?

Just bought a copy of FM 24. Name that has cropped up on the game as eligible for Wales is a goalkeeper for Notts County called Aidan Stone. Made a few appearances for them this season only 24/25 years old. Any ideas if he's actually eligible? @dragonsoccer

Robert Earnshaw’s son, Silva Mexes (14 years old) , plays for Ipswich and may sign for Man Utd. Might be worth checking out, but I doubt he’s eligible. He's officially signed now, and according to following article he's a part of Wales' under-14s squad. www.bbc.co.uk/cymrufyw/erthyglau/c6pp643x4kzo

Or that the eligibility rules are not the same for u14s as it is for older age groups, so he may still not be eligible? Actually, can't remember when exactly Earnie went out to America / Canada, but he may be eligible through the 5-year eligibility rule if Earnie never moved his family from Cardiff while playing in the UK. Looking at his wiki and doing a bit of amateur detective work, Earnie had a second stint with Cardiff between 2011-13 before moving to Toronto. His family may have stayed in Cardiff at that time, which I believe happens quite often in football during international transfers. As a side note - is his son really only 14? He must be massive for that age - already looks a good foot taller than Earnie (which doesn't say much, I know!).

Looks like earnshaw qualified for Wales under the 1993 agreement, passport rule
Been told he does not qualify by sources, so good knows where the news on the U14 squad came from
Wales u14s are cymru Cup age group and have had camps this season, in fact one this week at colliers as well

That's a shame, especially given his dad comes from Caerphilly and is a passionate Welshman!
Crazy when you compare this to the mockery of eligibility rules in rugby where Ireland can go scouting for New Zealanders to fill their backline, Scotland for South Africans and now England, who have 20x our population, >20x as many players and vast resources, are joining in on this and even through contract conditions (i.e. money) trying to turn young Welshmen to the rose, all in the name of residency (used to be just 3 years, now 5 years), in addition to many from the Southern hemisphere

We picked players like Eric Young and Pat Van Den Hauwe who had neither Welsh bloodline or ever lived there so I'm not sure it was taken too seriously by the FAW!

so in theory Earnshaw in 2002 should have only represented Zambia / England somehow or other the FAW got around it in 2002 I can only assume that the "passport" rule was used in someway or other and somehow got around it using the Home Nations agreement

An example I can think of is Antonee Robinson at Fulham. Born and raised in England. His dad however was born in England but raised in America and got American citizenship. Antonee eligible and has made several appearances for the US because of his dad citizenship so maybe that's a way round it?

Was looking at random age grade youth squads found one in 2022.
We called up a lad called Cai Rees who played in the Swiss 7th tier.
Then a lad called Codey Phoenix playing in the New Zealand 3rd tier.
Trying to think of anymore obscure age grade call ups over the years.

He made a big thing about being Canadian until the big bucks lured him to England. I may be wrong with my facts, a lot of beer drunk since then, but I think Bobby Ghoul called him up for Wales before the English intervention.

I see Angel Rangel (presumably the son of) is playing in the Cymru Cup.
Was he born here then or did Angel senior marry a Welsh girl?

Hat trick for Jake Bickerstaff in Wrexham's reserve game today against Stoke. From Liverpool, but anything tying him to Wales?
22 years old, and probably moving on this summer but with more regular starts, who knows what he'll do.
