I know our management are averse to strikers for some reason, but surely a guy who's got 5 in 7 in League 1 is up for consideration?

Anyone know why this lads not a decent run with the U21’s? Seems a good prospect but difficult to be excited when he’s young enough but not standing out in the U21’s.

He’s had a run with the u21s of late, and was involved in the last u19 campaign I believe. Tbf he did only come to first team prominence at the start of the year. He may have been considered a tad too young at the start of the u21 campaign just gone. He’s 2000 born so in a good place to be a staple for the upcoming u21 campaign.

Good to see he's doing well, but you get the feeling he's not quite close to displacing Moore or Hal. Maybe he's worth looking at in a squad if either get injured. If he keeps scoring at his current rate though, you'd expect better clubs to take a look at him as well

If he keeps scoring at his current rate though, you'd expect better clubs to take a look at him as well I think we're at the stage where we could probably field a B team. This could act as a transitional space from U21's for players like Jephcott before being a fully fledged first teamer.

If we get a 6 team group this afternoon friendlies will be thin on the ground and a B team would be great. I can imagine the reaction of some club managers however!

Off the bench to score another.
That’s 10 goals in 16 games.

Off the bench to score another. That’s 10 goals in 16 games. As a cautionary note he missed an absolute sitter on Saturday when through on goal. The commentary team made is sound like it was harder to miss. Overall he was hardly in the game despite Rovers defence leaking goals for fun this season.

Is he a kind of Jamie Vardy style player? Thanks for the thread, cadno
Not got the pace of Vardy and reckoned to be more of a Robbie Fowler / Teddy Sheringham type player ;-)
Not sure if that is what our Ryan fancies, tho ;-(

Surely the only way he makes our euro squad is if he moves to a championship club next month and continues to score regularly.
Glad to see him doing so well, hopefully he's not a flash in the pan!

I agree. Sadly, it looks like George Williams and (as things now stand) George Thomas are not quite cutting it. It looks like Luke and Mark Harris might be that elusive number 9. Time will tell

It only needs a few injuries and we’ll be giving him a call I reckon. Vokes isn’t in favour,Doidge obviously isn’t fancied and don’t forget that we barely had any strikers in the last squad after HRK got injured and Woodburn got COVID-19.

"This is contentious. Jephcott needs IMO to be playing in a formation which is out of fashion. 4-4-2. He needs a partner, a foil. He is a finisher. A natural one. Not a lot else. That knack is priceless but it won't fit into many modern set ups. So that narrows the field. If we go down then a move is inevitable thus why I say our success and development as a club is key to players like him staying with us."
There's a certain Championship club in South East Wales in need of a proper finisher to go alongside someone in a 4-4-2....

Even Kieffer Moore had 2 assists this season - tho still 2 less goals than Luke ;-)

Plymouth fans see him as a goalscorer but little else (a pretty handy attribute in a striker to be fair). He will need to develop his all-round game if he's to challenge for a place in the senior side.

Yes, when you watch the highlights programmes on TV, albeit only a few minutes, he does seem to do very little but score. But back when I started watching football every team appeared to have such a player, hang around the box and get the short range shots and tap ins.

Typical fox in the box finish, first time half volley from pretty much the penalty spot.
