It was strange the way he left Leeds considering his age and the fact he was already making their matchday squad at times. Hopefully it was him that decided not to renew his contract in search for first team football

Played the full 90 in Sunderland's thrashing of Cheltenham, as did Broadhead. That was on the back of really good performances from both in the league cup. Hopefully it means they're breaking into the first team. Huggins played at LWB and is just 20. Sunderland are very likely to go up to the championship, so it's a good place for him to be

Seems more attacking than RND, and I think he's ultimately a better prospect with better potential too

Starting for Sunderland tonight, has he played anymore games this season? Don't know much about him tbh.

He’s been out with a long term injury, I think tonight was his first game back.

Good player, hasn't taken him long to get straight back in the side with a new manager. If he hadn't been injured for so long prior to the world cup I think he would've been on the plane in replacement of RND.
He's a full back that covers either side. Right footed. Good technically. Will be one we'll definitely see more of after the world cup alongside Cooper and Vale

He has been back playing for a month or so (4/5 games i think before last night), gradually getting minutes under his belt in the under 21s - as reported well ahead of after Christmas return
Only been training with the senior squad this week as well, manager showing faith, he has the versatility which suits the welsh way, and that 5 yard of pace, which looks like is still there

He’s been out with a long term injury, I think tonight was his first game back. Ah right fair enough. Wasn't sure if he was being chucked in the first team. Had a good game I thought, looked pretty feisty. If he continues as a first team player there, surely won't be long before he gets called up. I wonder how he'd fare as WB.

On for just his third appearance of the season in the play-off semi-final vs Luton.

Was really excited about him when he was getting the odd game for Leeds under Bielsa, but injuries seem to have really stalled his career. He's 22 now and only 9 senior appearances to his name, which isn't enough. If Sunderland end up going up I'd like to see him loaned out to League One to get a full season under his belt and see how he does

I think League 1 would be a good move for him as well, he needs competitive football under his belt.

But you'd hope his talent would be good enough to be a starter at League One level

Severe back injury from the end of 2021 (October i think), foot injury as well, he returned early this year. Then suffered a hamstring injury around March time, easily to pick up after a long time out. Hopefully a good pre-season injury free will do him good

Good to hear. Think he was subbed off to make a formation change at half time.
If he can play regularly could be a shoo in for the next round of games. We need cover at left back.

He turns out to be a pretty solid wing back in Football Manager, and can also play with both feet.

Starting for Sunderland tonight, has he played anymore games this season? Don't know much about him tbh. Can't believe it's been nearly as year since I watched him in this match and thought he was absolutely class and one of the best players on the pitch. Another very promising players deal with typical injury bad luck.

He's one of those players who I'm always surprised to see is getting Championship minutes, as I remember him dropping down to L1 then getting a big injury. So it is surprising but it's a good surprise. If he's regular he should be in the squad as LWB competition in RND's absence

Becoming a regular in the Sunderland team now and looked very comfortable v Cardiff today. With RND out, should we not call Niall in?

Started the last three games now. He was taken off at half time in the first game, was getting slagged off in the only tweets I could find on him in the second game, but the Radio Cymru commentators were very complimentary about his performance today. That's the extent of my insight into his performances so far (would be interested in Cardiff fans' view of his performance today). Sounds like he's building up some form after a long spell out, hopefully it continues and, if so, he definitely has a strong case for a call-up
