With so many young players getting caps early, surely we wll have a player reach the 100 club
Who will be first
Hennessey 26 38 caps Gunter 24 48 caps Matthews 21 12 caps Davies 20 8 caps
Ledley 26 49 caps Ramsey 22 28 caps Bale 24 43 caps Williams 19 4 caps Allen 23 14 caps
Maybe Bale and Ramsey if they stay injury free.
Ledley is another strong possibility

My money was on Hennessey but he's missed over a dozen caps due to injury and that's put him back but he's got another 10 years in him and that's another 60-70 caps available to him
Hope Lesley gets a good reception ay the Macedonia game for his 50th cap

Williams has 43 caps and is 29, so could end up with 70+ but not 100

Probably will be the youngest, full list Allchurch Bellamy Simon Davies Dai Davies Earnshaw Flynn Giggs Hartson Horne Hughes L James Cliff Jones Joey Jones Paul Jones Mahoney Nicholas Pembridge Dave Phillips Leighton Phillips Ratcliffe Ricketts Carl Robinson Rush Saunders Southall Speed Micky Thomas Rod Thomas Terry Yorath
Get a decent side from that with Ricketts and Robinson possibly struggling for a game

Good team except for Pembride in defence
How about Jones and Ratcliffe centre halves with Speed at left back
Making room for Cliff Jones who has to play

I think Ramsey is most likely to get to 100 out of all those, for various reasons.

I think Ramsey is most likely to get to 100 out of all those, for various reasons. Can't see it, too prone to injury. Considering he's our most important player Bale doesn't seem to suffer from the injury curse and is our most reliable player. Bale will definitely make it to 100 caps, probably the only one out of the current group of players to do so.

Usually after a broken leg players have many niggling injuries but his injury record since his broken leg is remarkable and I'm sure Bale has missed more games through injury over the last 2 seasons than Ramsey. Also, It's not just injuries that you have to consider. I don't think Bale will be the most likely because there's no doubt in my mind that his move to Madrid will affect the number of times he plays for us. Ramsey has a good history of showing up and will be a starter in our side all his career.

Discussion after the match today in work. We don’t have any yet, we have a few in the mix to achieve it but after Bale it drops off quite significantly.
I can see Neco getting 100. Mepham, Rodon and Cabango will be competing against each other so I’ll go with just Mepham out of the 3 to reach it. Although he’s had a massive head start and part of me thinks I’m crazy for saying it I don’t think Ampadu will, has had a few back problems that I think could cause him issues in a few years. I also don’t think James will, playing as a winger I can see similar to what has happened to Bale and injuries will add up.
What’s are people’s opinions? Any obvious ones you have confidence in or anyone want to throw in a wildcard choice?

None of them. As our squads become increasingly competitive it will become harder to own the shirt through a whole career. Not that some more major tournaments won't help. Very true. We’ve gone over 100 years without getting one so don’t imagine we’ll have too many. Hennessey definitely, Gunter probably. I’d like to think there’s another in our squad who’ll be in that position in 10 years.

If any of them do it, it'll be Ampadu, he's already got 15 and he isn't even 20 yet! His versatility helps as well as his incredible quality. If he stays fit he'll get 100

Neco 100%
Very competitive everywhere else though.
He might be 22 with only 12 so far but I think Dan James will always be a starter so I’ll go for him

Neco and Ethan. Depending on fitness, I'd also put my money on Brooks (all things being well).

Difficult to see any one of them getting close tbh, with the so many injury problems we seem to suffer from. You only have to look at Ramsey and Allen as examples. Both are 29 and 30 now, and are on 60 ish caps. Seeing Ramsey play for us when he was 19/20 you'd have thought he'd gone close to 100 - obviously the leg break took him out for a long time, but other injuries have taken toll.

This time last week I would have said Connor Roberts. However, unless Neco Williams moves into a forward role, then poor Connor may become yesterday’s man very quickly.

Hennessey will be the first.
I can't see Gunter making it now unfortunately. Roberts & Neco are now the established RBs. Gunter obviously covering the left side for Davies. If Ben Williams or anyone else comes through I think Gunter may well drop out the squad.
Bale will be the 2nd. If he plays every NL game & against England he'll be on 90, with friendlies/tournament to come next year, he'll probably hit 100 at some point during the World Cup qualifiers I'd imagine (as long as no serious injuries come along)
Davies I'm almost certain will get there & will be the third centurion.
After that the most likely candidate is Ampadu. I think his back problems can be attributed to growing & I think his injuries will settle down now. He's versatile & will always start when he can.
With the others I think there will be too much competition for places to really nail down a guaranteed spot. Brooks is the most likely to get close, but have a feeling that injuries for him may prevent him from getting there.

Agree, barring any further longterm injuries our Gareth will be the first outfield player to reach 100. As for the new guard, no idea.

Ampadu for me, 15 caps before he turns 20 and his versatility in the middle means he will be a mainstay of this team for at least 10 years barring any long term injuries.

The main thing that throws me off a few is Bale was 16 I think when he won his first and still hasn’t, James was 22 and I think will have a similar path with 6 less years. I think our young players are quality but there’s always the Nyatanga argument, never set in stone.
I think they’ll give Gunter some token friendlies. He’s still in the mix in the squad.

Getting 100 caps will be relatively easy V years ago because there will be lots more games.
Some introduced at 19 and staying relatively injury free would expect to see country play 120 times by time they are 33.

I think Ampadu too. I remember a video in a Chelsea arranged function saying his goal was to be the record caps holder for Cymru, or suchlike.

Meanwhile Ronaldo has just scored his 100th international goal for Portugal. Crazy number!!!
