For the record Romania 93 should never go down as ‘bottling it’. We lost the first game in Romania 5-1. 5-0 down at half time. We were played off the park in Cardiff by a technicality better team. Southall lets a grass cutter from Hagi in. I thought it was bloody heroic how we clawed our way back into the game. Bodin’s gone for power down the middle. Jimmy Greaves wrote in The Sun the next day that Ian Rush bottled it, very harsh in my option because Rush never took penalties for club or country. Bodin was our penalty taker. Romania were brilliant in USA 94. Wales 0 Russia 1 2003 Euro playoff. Now that’s a bottle job!!!! Agreed. Didn't Romania do really well in USA 94 too? They deserved to go. They were amazing! One of the teams of the tournament.

Sister lived in Texas at the time, and got me a ticket to watch Bulgaria v Argentina. Got to see two of my favourite players ever. Batistuta, and one of my personal favourites Fernando Redondo in the flesh

Any news on who is to ref Sunday's match, or will that not be known until after the Scotland-v-Ukraine eliminator is decided?

I recall staying up late as a nipper to watch Argentina v Romania. 2026 in north America would have been amazing if only they had kept the 32 team format

Qatar 2022 will be pretty good if we're in it. Rubbish if we're not.

Note what you say. Trouble is major tournaments don't come around too often and we're actually so much closer to Qatar 2022 than to say e.g. the Euros in Germany 2024 (which will be class).

There were some memorable moments in '94 but I recall there being a lot of very dull games in the latter knockout stages. On the Romania point... they were a terrific side, no shame losing to them. They should have actually gone further in the tournament. A Brazil/Romania semi-final would have been tasty.

Listening to Podcast Coleman had a dream. They’ve both dropped Harry Wilson for Morrell in the World Cup Play Off. Theory being that we could be 2-0 after 10 mins if Wilson plays. They’re saying our midfield too lightweight.

They’re saying our midfield too lightweight. That front foot approach is what helped us play Austria off the park last time. I feel if we'd dropped off them by picking Morrell we'd have been under more pressure

Does anyone else not like the 5pm kick off? I've never been a fan of afternoon or early evening international football, lacks the sense of occasion that evening games have.

Agree, should be 8pm kick offs Imo it’s an advantage playing away from home at an afternoon summer KO, a night game always is more inspiring. Saying that it didn’t really help us for the ROI game, maybe 5pm might be a blessing!

Hi there. I’m convinced we’ll win the game now. Driving to Guatemala City today. It’s an hour from where I live. So I’m thinking about the game and a Guatemalan standing in the middle of nowhere next to dual carriage way with black t-shirt with Welsh flag 🏴 on front and Cymru in writing under the flag. I’ve been here 18 years. I ain’t seen that. Fly over tomorrow. I’ve seen the sign!!! CYMRU AM BYTH

This is complete speculation, but will Ukraine sell their full allocation? I know they did tonight, but doing it again a few days later is a big ask.
I might be way off the mark, but could there be an additional release of tickets for Cymru fans?

I think Sunday will be a bridge too far for Ukraine, I don't think we get Denmarked in this one, I think we deplete and destroy.

I might be way off the mark, but could there be an additional release of tickets for Cymru fans? The country is starting to fill up with refugees - they’ve got a huge audience now to sell to. Worst comes to the worst they’ll surely give them away to Ukraine communities for free? In other words I very much doubt that Ukraine has any intention of returning any tickets they are given, in the current climate.

Just watched the highlights, Ukraine were quite sloppy at the back and I don't rate the keeper, I fancy our pace and guile to undo them, throw the muscle and hustle of the big man into the mix and that keeper is going to have a horrible evening.

We need to put Ukraine's tragic issue to one side and fight for our lives from the first second
Ukraine appeared astonishing with the accuracy of their play BUT you only look that good when something is distracting or holding back the opposition.
For the first 50 mins the Scottish players and fans were not themselves and I think its the psychology of who they were playing. We just need to get ourselves pumped up as a collective from the first second.
You saw Scotland when they at last allowed themselves to get aggressive - they put the Ukraine under significant pressure playing very basic but aggressive football.
Does anyone know energy wise what advantage there is in terms of being fresh versus playing a game 4 days later? Are there any scientific studies out on it?
On the other hand - 4/5 of our first team - Bale, Ramsey, Rodon, (Mepham - may be sub?) and Ward have hardly played any first team football this year! Then most of the rest will not have played for 3-4 weeks. I guess that's a disadvantage in itself

Ukraine's first competitive game since the war is now out the way. It's no longer a landmark occasion in that sense. That's great for us. It must have played a part in why Scotland were shell shocked for 3 quarters of that game. Plus the fact that they are generally woeful in big games at home.

I hope we don't give Ukraine the same reception the Scots gave them. The Scots weren't on the Ukrainian players backs and this allowed them to get a good start. I am hoping that it's a hostile atmosphere where every mistake is cheered. There can be no sentiment. After the game I will applaud Ukraine win or lose but until then bollocks to them.

Absolutely spot on. This is our time and our moment after 64 years of hurt. I hope everyone remembers that on Sunday. This might be the only time any of us sees Wales at a world cup in our lifetimes. Just let that sink in for how huge this moment is. Full respect to Ukraine at full time whatever happens.

Off course, that's a given.Anything less would be an insult to Ukraine really.Theyll want a proper game.Theyll get one. 2 proud countries really going for it for 90 minutes (or 120 minutes!) Mutual respect hopefully, and support for them in their struggle, after the game. Yma o hyd!

Cringe.
These boys are coming from a war zone, a few coked up Wales fans booing them and chanting in put on (or not) English accents, won't intimidate them.
