I much prefer his story and rise to Paul Mullin's tbh. A pure product of the FAW/Welsh football. It's a great story for sure. I do think Mullin is just one of those players who has that special something about him, which is why I'd personally favour calling him up over Evans However, it would be great to see Evans get a call up given his pathway hope he can continue his rise

Rumours circulating that Swansea and Huddersfield are sniffing around, probably just agent talk but I guess if he makes a move to that level he'll immediately be deemed good enough.

I'd like him to see out the season with Newport, hopefully bang in a load more goals and push on and get them some decent money for his signature.

Oh no, I did wonder that, Newport seem hamstrung by their financial situation when it comes to contracts, losing Telford and Baker-Richardson after being so close to the playoffs was a massive blow

Two the other day and scores again tonight, 15 in 25 league games

Swansea desperately need a target man up front, and he could fit the bill. Has been linked already, although so has Al Hamadi, who's scoring for fun for Wimbledon (goal and assist tonight), and was previously with Swansea youth.

Has to be a Championship club that comes in for him in January for sure. I bet he's been watched a few times by a number of clubs already

It's difficult to appraise Evans. He does the one thing you need, and that's put it in the net. Right place, right time kinda thing. That's enough for County in league two, we're more than happy with him.
He's got bags of energy and chases everything down too. This isn't a skill though. Some players give 120% like Evans but all fit players should be able to do this.
On the negative side of things. He's not technically gifted (his control is hit and miss, and sometimes snatches at chances), and he isn't an overt aerial threat. League One or Two may be his level. If a Championship side picks him up it will be interesting to see how he does.
He's a big favourite with his tireless effort. It depends on who's available but I don't ever see him as an international.
I think he will get better rather than stand still.

There was a deflection on this goal too but it was going in even without the deflection....unlike the first goal.
A better goal for the positives of the build up (including smart run from Evans across the goal) than the first hit.

I’d imagine he’s jumping ahead of Mullin in the queue.
More goals in the league, playing for a club where he’ll be getting a lot less chances. Scored against premier league opposition and 3 years younger.

Hopefully a move to the Championship will happen (no pun intended) before the transfer window closes. Swansea could do with Evans' qualities.

Every chance of that happening after today’s performance

He’s definitely a good player, hopefully today has shown what he can do to those who were unsure about him. Can’t see Swansea and Newport doing business though now that Huw Jenkins is involved, which is a shame for Welsh football.

I can't see there being a problem on that front, in fact I see Jenkins leveraging his connections with Swansea to the clubs' mutual interest. Perhaps allowing Josh Thomas to go on loan to Newport could sweeten the deal. Thomas should thrive at League Two level.

True, but that's quite a while ago, it would be pretty stupid on both sides if that were to prevent a deal from being struck that would benefit both clubs.

He was really good today, didn't look at all out of place up against two World Cup winners who both played in the the 2022 final. Newport were brilliant today and Will personified everything that was good about them, my gut feeling is that he'll stay until the end of the season and they'll go from there. If you follow him on Social media you'll see that he's got a great bond with the club.

He did well today but was it really "jump up to Championship" well or just enough to catch attention of top sides in L1 or L1 bound?

He did well today but was it really "jump up to Championship" well or just enough to catch attention of top sides in L1 or L1 bound? Look at his highlights reel from the 2022/23 season which he played mainly as a left wingback. Very impressive, especially his close control and deft touch. He showed that again today against quality opposition, so yes I think he has what it takes, in terms of all round capability, to do well at Championship level.

He did well today but was it really "jump up to Championship" well or just enough to catch attention of top sides in L1 or L1 bound? He did a lot of the simple things very well today, his movement, ability to find space and continually find a player when in advanced positions made Varane and Martinez really earn their money. It's his willingness to do the stuff a lot of players don't that makes him stand out. He's never going to be in line for the Ballon D'or but he definitely has something about him.

Danny Murphy was saying on commentary that he thinks a few sides higher up the pyramid will take a look at him based on that performance. I mean I know Danny Murphy is an awful pundit, but that's still a good indication of how well he played. I haven't watched the game myself yet, but glad to hear that he's doing well. Could definitely be in with a shout of the squad soon and would like to see him join a good L1 club next season

Scored against premier league opposition and 3 years younger. Arguable, because Mullin has a higher goal contribution per game at the moment, Evans just has more contributions overall because he's played the full season and therefore more games Although I'm not against an Evans call up, I've just seen less of him so it's difficult to compare honestly

Arguable, because Mullin has a higher goal contribution per game at the moment, Evans just has more contributions overall because he's played the full season and therefore more games Although I'm not against an Evans call up, I've just seen less of him so it's difficult to compare honestly I'm not sure what their respective goals per games stats are, but this tweet shows no one in the English pyramid has scored more non-penalty goals than Evans - think Mullin has scored a couple of penalties which will have inflated his numbers. I have to admit, I was surprised at how well Evans did against that calibre of opposition - I would argue it probably eclipses what Mullin did against the Championship clubs last season because he was up against two central defenders who were playing in the World Cup final last year. I liked how he would come out wide to get the ball and his movement generally created all sorts of issues for them. I haven't watched much of him play, but had always been under the under the impression from what I read (including from Newport fans) that he works his socks off and can do a job at L2, but lacks the technical attributes to play at a higher level. I don't think he should be close to the Welsh squad yet for the same reasons I've said about Mullin - he needs to prove himself over a large chunk of games at a higher level. But he has a few years on Mullin and might be jumping up the leagues before him, so he's probably in with a better shot of making it. Saying all that, it's always a mistake to put too much weight on one off games - I expect his form to tail off a bit in the last few months and wouldn't be surprised if Mullin (who I still suspect is the better player) outscores him.
