What I would say is that Evans' performance last night was fully consistent with his highlights reel on YOUTUBE for the 2022/23 season when he played mainly as a left wingback. He shows a lot of deft touches and good close control which suggests he has a high ceiling. So, I don't think last night was a one off, but I can't be 100% confident, given I've seen so little of him.
Interesting that on a couple of Newport forums only one chose him as POTM. To me he was clearly their best player, even though the likes of Delaney played well.
Al-Hamadi looks as if he's going to Ipswich from Wimbledon for £1 million plus add-ons. He has a similar profile to Evans, so it wouldn't be surprising if Evans leaves for the Championship before the end of the window.

What's gutting is that Bala Town wouldn't benefit at all due to being out of contract when he left, so no sell on fee

iot that's a good stat, although I do question why a team's number 9 isn't taking their penalties? Or is it just that Newport haven't had any? Yeah it is promising to hear, who knows maybe he could surprise a few and step up and do well. Hope his form continues

Magnificent goal. Created the chance himself then found the top corner from a tight angle. Shame no Championship side signed him.

I'm over the moon that Newport have him at least until the end of the season. Four league wins on the spin and three points off the play offs.

For now I'm just going to enjoy the fact he's playing for us and enjoy watching him for the last 16 games of the season. If we carry on like this we'll make the play offs at a canter. I'm sure it'll fall flat at some point, but it's so nice to be looking up instead of down for once.

I like Wil Evans and think he has what it takes to be a good championship striker. It wouldn't surprise me that if we qualify for Germany he sneaks into the squad. He has a great physique and his confidence is sky high. Someone like a Preston or Blackburn would be a good move for him in the Summer. I bet the new owner at Newport is already counting the £1m they will make if he continues scoring. He could easily end up with 30 goals. When was the last Welsh striker in the football league that did that? Earnie?

Coming round to the idea of him being in the squad next month. I think it's not the worst idea to include a player who is just in really good form. Throwing him on if we're chasing a goal could be the catalyst we need in certain situations

He may well get called up, but I can’t see him being involved on matchday as we have a lot of goals in our squad currently. Broadhead won’t start & he is banging them in at the top of the Championship. Johnson has been contributing for Spurs, but likewise will probably be on the bench.

Newport are getting closer to the play offs, if they keep up their 2024 form they'll make the play offs and I wouldn't bet against them going up. If they went up, Evans stayed and his form continued you'd have to seriously consider having a look at him because his style of play is a little different to other options.

Making a very strong case for being a wildcard for the squad. His background of coming from the Cymru Leagues also might turn the FAW's head. At his current rate I wouldn't mind seeing him ahead of some of the fringe players

His form is certainly better than Mullin's is, so on balance I think you have to give Evans the edge atm

107 appearances in two seasons at Newport, starting 84 with 71 league starts and 20 from the bench, meaning he played in all but 1 of their league games over the past two seasons. On top of this he scored 25 goals in all competitions this season despite playing some of it at left wing back. I hope he stays on for next season but my gut feeling is that someone from League One or the Championship will take him.

Definitely deserves a chance at a higher level. Would like to see him at Swansea.

I love his enthusiasm and I think in a better team where there are other threats on the field he could really thrive, he's a real handful and a pain for defenders. I've only seen him live in the flesh once and that was against Morecombe where Newport scored 5 and none of them were from Evans but he was a nightmare for their defence and they were doubling and tripling up on him at times and constantly fouling him. Cardiff could do a lot worse than take a punt on him.

Swansea desperately need a striker. Links to Macaulay Langstaff from League 2 too. Should look closer to home
