Sorry I'm just getting back to you, my wife just had our 3rd child and I'm in my mid 40's........this is harder than when I was younger. Yes, I miss the food in New Orleans. It is some of the best you would find in the States. Copeland's, started by Al Copeland, is the founder of Popeyes. He opened up the first Popeyes on the Westbank of the Mississippi River across the River from the famous French Quarter area. Houston is an ok city to visit; San Antonio is a better visiting destination in my opinion. Many congratulations on your new arrival. The only part of Texas I have been to is Fort Worth. Thank you! Not much sleep these days but it allows me to watch more football.

Noticed that the US appear to have had a number of positive transfers in this window, with quite a few players who weren't playing much last year finding new clubs. The main one is Tyler Adams going to Leeds for just under £20m. I hadn't understood how highly rated Brenden Aaronson is - he must be having gone to Leeds for about £25m. There's also a couple of moves with their goalkeepers -Turner to Arsenal for £8m and Steffen on loan to Middlesbrough. Cameron Carter-Vickers has also moved from spurs to celtic - Swans fans will remember that he's a very decent player. So they should be in a much better position going into the world cup. On the plus side, so are we thanks to the moves for Bale and Neco, and to a lesser extent Matondo, Lawrence and Levitt. Just need Ramsey, Rodon, and Ampadu to get moves now.

We did have a good bit of movement. Chris Richards is signing for Palace for up to €20 million and Jordan Siebatcheu signed for Union Berlin as well.

Aaronson looks like a quality player. He set up 3 or 4 goals for Leeds today, some of them really quality too. Definitely one of the dangermen to look out for. The other concern is he could limit Dan James' gametime. Leeds played with a front 4 of Bamford, Aaronson, Rodrigo and Harrison today, scoring 6 goals with the first three responsible for all of them.
On a brighter note, I saw bits of Nottingham Forest's friendly against Valencia yesterday and noticed Neco was up against Yunus Musah a few times - their other top prospect who regularly starts for them. Neco had a great game and seemed to have the better of Musah

Aaronson still needs to add some weight/muscle but he's a good young player. Good option coming off of the bench for us.
Musah is being played in the middle by Gattuso which is his natural position. He's had a good preseason. The Valencia fans want him starting in the middle instead of out wide; good progress at 19 years old.

We just played Japan in a friendly and the US looked horrible. We were missing a lot of starting players but the usual 1st team players that played looked so poor. McKennie looks so poor right now at Juventus and he carried that same form into this match.
The gaffer refuses to call in Jordan Pefok of Union Berlin who has looked great because he doesn't fit our style of play. The manager is one of the worst we've had and that's quite a statement. I really don't see any chance of us advancing. It's a real shame as the team has a good bit of quality. Hopefully the manager will get sacked after the WC and that his replacement can lead this young, talented team into 2026.

Yep, heard it was none too good a performance. No shots on target? Iran currently nil nil v Uruguay in Austria after about 20 minutes play.

So where are we on likely team to face the USA then? Injuries and form allowing. My view on Page is that he wants his best eleven on the pitch and will tinker with formation around that.
If everyone's fit therefore. Reckon it'll be 5-3-2
Hennessey
Roberts/Thomas Ampadu Rodon Davies Williams
Wilson Allen Ramsey
James/Johnson Bale
but if Wilson and Ramsey don't make it..
5-2-3
with Allen and Ampadu as the 2 and Mepham coming into the back 3. James,Bale and Johnson up front.

I fancy 2-1 for us. Johnson to score 2 in the first ten minutes And then goes on to win the golden boot and then signs for Bayern Munich.
Positive vibe Tuesday today

For me, our best XI is now as follows;
Ward/Wayne Connor-Ampadu-Rodon-Davies-Neco Allen Ramsey-Wilson Bale-Brennan
Harsh on Moore/James but both are good options to have. I just think the 4 man attack of Ramsey/Wilson/Bale/Brennan possesses the most quality. Against England I'd happily bring DJ or Moore into the XI

Even then, the RCB for them was basically playing RB with Sorba very high as basically a RW anyway. Frankly, if he isn't allowed to put in every set-piece delivery whenever he is on the pitch, he frankly shouldn't be in the squad.

Feels wrong to leave Brannan and Moore out, but I don't think we can afford to play a 523 or without James' workrate/press in the 532 against sides that are better / similar to us, which will be every side we face in the WC.
Hennessey Connor-Ampadu-Rodon-Davies-Neco
Allen
Ramsey-Wilson
Bale-James

I woke up this morning and said to the Mrs "the next game of football Wales (mens) play will be at world cup"!
i'm buzzing for it.
i'd go with the team above as well. think allen, rambo and wilson will have enough to control the midfield. and what an impact off the bench with Brennan and Moore

You should really take a moment every now and then over the next weeks and focus on that buzz. Enjoy yourself. When Nov 21 rolls around make sure you especially enjoy the anthems at 6:55. The good feelings are going to be gone by 7:15. You've waited your whole life for this. Enjoy it while you can.

I don’t think there’s much between us and I’d put Iran just ahead of us. England are the clear favourites in our group, so the first game is huge for us two, 22 days to go!!

USA a bit above us but v close I think Iran are very well organised and will want to sit deep - and we struggle more against teams that do that. As long as Kieffer Moore is available for that game then I think we'll be okay, as it will be the perfect game to swing crosses in towards him. If Kieffer isn't available for any reason I think we'll make hard work of that one The USA game I feel a lot more confident about despite them having a better "calibre" of player. I think we're set up to beat a team like them

We (US) announced our squad tonight. We are missing 2 of our top 3 CB's and the coach didn't call up 2 of our best Forwards. He chose a couple of players that shouldn't be anywhere near the team.
GOALKEEPERS (3) Ethan Horvath - Luton Town Sean Johnson - New York City FC Matt Turner -Arsenal
DEFENDERS (9) Cameron Carter-Vickers - Celtic Sergiño Dest - AC Milan Aaron Long - New York Red Bulls Shaq Moore - Nashville SC Tim Ream - Fulham Antonee "Jedi" Robinson - Fulham Joe Scally - Borussia Mönchengladbach DeAndre Yedlin - Inter Miami CF Walker Zimmerman - Nashville SC
MIDFIELDERS (7) Brenden Aaronson - Leeds United Kellyn Acosta - LAFC Tyler Adams - Leeds United Luca de la Torre - Celta de Vigo Weston McKennie - Juventus Yunus Musah - Valencia Cristian Roldan - Seattle Sounders FC
FORWARDS (7) Jesús Ferreira - FC Dallas Jordan Morris - Seattle Sounders FC Christian Pulisic - Chelsea Gio Reyna - Borussia Dortmund Josh Sargent - Norwich City Tim Weah - Lille Haji Wright - Antalyaspor
My guess who will start vs Wales
Turner
Dest. Zimmerman. Ream. Robinson
Adams
McKennie. Musah
Weah. Pulisic
Ferreira
Our CB pair is so slow that I would put a rapid forward playing on the shoulder of those two all game long. Zimmerman is dominate in the air but so slow.

That's a very strong starting xi quality wise. Even your defence looks capable enough, although is there a particular reason you would play zimmerman over Carter-Vickers? CCV was very good in his loan spells with Cardiff and Swansea, and is a Celtic regular

Carter-Vickers has never played for Cardiff
They have a good midfield, it's essential that we go with a midfield 3 rather than a 2

Embarrassing, I completely mixed him up with Steve Caulker! They do look very similar and play in the same position to be fair, and CVV did play for Swansea.
Agree with you on the midfield. Their main weaknesses seem to be threefold:
1. A mediocre centre-back pairing, although not terrible at all by our standards 2. No quality centre forwards and a lack of a goal threat 3. Lack of cohesion / poorly set up
They have much higher quality players and will dominate much of the game imo. We just need to hope our strength in the two boxes and greater team chemistry will top the better individuals they have at their disposal.

I'm not sure on "much higher quality". I think our defence is pretty strong for international football and we have X factor that other teams don't possess in Bale and (potentially) Ramsey.
Ramsey is key for us, I doubt Allen will be fit so we'll need Ramsey to produce the all action displays he has in the past. I think a midfield 3 of Ampadu, Wilson and Ramsey is pretty solid tbh. I think we have plenty of quality in our first 15 or 16 players, beyond that it's a bit of a struggle
Ward
Roberts Mepham Rodon Davies Williams
Ampadu Wilson Ramsey
Bale James
I think that's a very solid team with some able replacements in Johnson, Moore, Allen and Hennessey. Beyond that we're getting into unproven/lesser quality players
I must say I think the US will be a real force in a few years
