Don't have any golf bats 🤣 Fantastic courses in Dubai but can be a really expensive hobby so count yourself lucky you don't have any sticks! However, the DP World Golf Tour Championship weekend starts on 17th-20th if you're around then. An absolutely fabulous weekend with some of the world's top golfers, plenty of watering holes and FREE entry all weekend. Dubai 7s, another awesome weekend (forget about the rubgy part!) is 1st-3rd Dec. Otherwise, there is always so much to do at that time of the year in Dubai. Some events come with a cost of course but there will be plenty things to do and see if you're on a budget also. Perhaps the good residents of the UAE on this group eg Dubai Reds! will help to get an itinerary together before hand for you all around that time as a reference point

As I mentioned there’s a gang of us staying in Abu Dhabi as me and the missus have been to Dubai over 15 times and AD is our new go to place as it’s better value and more to do and the cost has gone up massively in Dubai in the 20years we’ve been going and the All Inclusive hotels in AD are a lot batter than in Dubai, IMO.
My mate who’s coming out with us is going the Abu Dhabi F1 Grand Prix on the Sunday 20th, then all of our group games and then either our last 16 match or the Dubai 7’s which is on the same weekend. Not a bad two weeks of sport.

That looks like a list of places I'd pay to avoid.
Sorry to be so negative but there's something uncomfortably plastic about the whole tournament.

I went to Dubai a few years and the Entertainer pass is genuinely worth having if you plan on going to any of the places covered by it. Useful to know they have a 3 month option as when I went it was 12 months only.

Thanks for that. Saudi could well prove to be an interesting place to stay - or at least travel to. They allow visa-free access with a Hayya Card and their national airline also does the (now very expensive match-day shuttle flights: circa £450 return).
Wizz Air has already started flying (super cheaply from Rome) to Saudi and the free shuttle service from the border town of Abu Samra, is aother option to flying

Quick question as I know there’ll be a lot of fans catching th3 shuttles from Dubai, does the requirement to have a negative LFT or PCR still apply or have they relaxed the requirement?

Do not need to pre-book, just turn up at the medical facility to get one done. A bit of a different system to the ones in the UK. Closest drive thru-one is by the QE2 in Deira, but I see there is a hospital nearby too. onboard-clinic.com/?page_id=198

I’ve everything sorted for Dubai apart from my mobile phone connection/app. Been reading a fair bit on the Net about WhatsApp/Messenger etc not in use over there…can anyone suggest a really simple/cheap way to be able to phone home and keep in contact with mates staying across the UAE during the tournament please?

Whatsapp messages in the UAE are absolutely fine but no whatsapp video calls can be done without a VPN. My parents just arrived and they were handed a Du SIM card (UAE version of BT/Vodafone etc) at the airport on arrival and it was a bit of a ballache to register but calls and whatsapps work fine now and it cost about 20 quid to set up including data etc. Perhaps someone else has other options that they can suggest though?

Anyone else staying at Hampton by Hilton Marjan Island or close by already booked or sourced their Pcr tests for the match day shuttle flights?
I’ve had no response from the hotel, I know you can do drive through at the hospital.
We think we’ve sorted someone to come to the hotel.
If anyone else has something sorted or wants details of who we’re hoping to use then get in touch.👍

Who said they won’t let you check in? It’s advised that you arrive 3 hours before departure, that’s standard. Surely people will check in online anyway to save the hassle, you’d be seriously daft not to

So it's the same state of play for these shuttle flights as it would be with any other flight? But potentially with a need for a little more leeway due to immigration checks?

3 hours is for long haul flights , standard is usually two hours and like was mentioned above you can check in online
