Yes born in 95, tomorrow is my 20th anniversary of my first game v Azerbaijan and been to every home competitive game since, other than covid. Page is clueless. He talks a load of rubbish. Get him out. You must have felt like this before then. Or worse. I’ve never felt like the manager needs to show some more ambition in his tactics and game plan, no.

You started watching in 2003, maybe you were too young to appreciate the latter Hughes or Toshack years, but there were many tactical stinkers that lacked ambition in there.

Moving forward to the June games there’s a few things I hope Page and his staff consider.
1. Add depth to the midfield, Sheehan, Lowery, Savage and others need to be looked at. Yes it will be throwing them into the deep end but we haven’t got much choice, bring them in and trust them.
2. Can the squad be more balanced, how about a couple more midfielders and left footed players, Ryan Hedges should be looked at, he can run all day and has a great left foot, he’s happy to defend as well.
3. Put trust in players, have a plan B without Kieffer Moore up top. Yes Bradshaw is a different type of player, but we’re under utilising him if he’s just there to be in the squad. Instead of seeing out a 1-0, trust the likes of Cooper & Bradshaw to come on and make an impact, playing with attacking freedom. Give them a licence to thrill!
4. Continue with the work put in over the last 2 games and improve on it. We looked more solid, and at times we passed the ball around well. Now it’s time to work on that and take it to another level. Having the likes of Brooks, Brennan & Davies back will obviously help.
5. Rob Page needs to loosen up, bring clarity to the media, and communicate better with players/media/clubs. We don’t want the silly Brennan / Forest situation happening again. Don’t say what you think everyone wants to hear, just back yourself.
If everyone’s available Vs Armenia? Ward CR Meps Rodon Davies Ampadu Morrell Wilson Rambo Neco Brennan

March ratings-
Ward- 8- made some important saves that prevented us getting into real trouble Roberts- 3- honestly so bad. I don’t know if it was a team instruction to not go forward, but my god he was terrible. Terrible distribution and poor all round Mepham + Rodon- both 7- solid display. Their number 20 impressed me. Neco- 7.5- much better performance from Neco
Morell-7- safe performance and kept the ball moving. Just wish he tried moving it forward more, his first instinct is backwards Ampadu- 8- solid as ever- can’t remember the time he had a poor game for us? Such an important player for the future. Think CDM suits him best
Ramsey- 5- another poor performance from Rambo. Whilst he did nothing wrong, he did nothing great either. For this kind of game we needed him to create opportunities which I’m sure bale would have done
Wilson + James- 7- both had moments of good, however distribution was poor on most occasions for both
Moore- 7- great header and match winner. The man is a legend!! Wish he had better service because apart from the goal, was anonymous, however not his fault
Page- I can’t give him a rating, however I don’t get his decisions at all and I don’t know if he knows what he’s doing either. Think 32,000 people at the stadium could see we were shouting out for fresh legs in final 20 mins and nothing. Great we won, however if Latvia had taken one of their chances, I’m sure he couldn’t justify his choices then. I personally don’t think he’s the right man for the job

Read up that the referee last night has only officiated 6 competitive internationals, no wonder he was poor and let Latvia get away with quite a few fouls unpunished.

Having slept on it I definitely feel like last night was a good performance. It could have done with a goal or 2 more but I think it's good seeing us knock it about and watching players like Ampadu, Morrell and Wilson really put a shift, the latter in particular was brilliant at times, was encouraging. Ampadu in midfield is perfect for me, he's comfortable on the ball and improving and a natural leader, I rate him as a footballer and a person. Dan James was good, could have been better but I think he's a lucky break or two away from coming back and being a really dangerous player, say what you want about him but he is nearly always effective in some way, always drawing fouls. As assist last night for him for the Big Man, those two work well together, especially when they're on it. When you consider how many of our eleven start regularly for their clubs at the moment, or even get on, it's a decent result and something to build on. I think we'll draw one or two of the three games we have with Latvia and Armenia but I also think we'll not lose to Turkey and that could be the difference. It's a period of transition for us and if we get through it finishing second Page will have done his job well.

My god, the worst referee I have seen in a long time!! And the refeering standard in the championship at the minute is terrible. He was appalling. How it took 40 mins for the Latvian first yellow card is crazy. He does not deserve to referee another international game

Watched the sexond half back earlier and there was a stamp on Ramsey, which wasnt even a foul!
Then a Latvian took out James while we were attacking on the break and wasnt even a yellow.
Completely inept.

I've seen reds given for the two you mentioned, I can't believe the Ramsey one didn't get anything, it was outrageous. There was a beautiful moment where one of their players tried to shove Moore and Moore didn't move and he realised what he'd done, I enjoyed that. There was a part of me that was worried that Ampadu was going to half someone and let them know who's boss but he kept his head very well and was a very calming influence in the middle of the park, great covering too.

To be fair he was telling them no more. He told their captain about 10 times. Not his fault they didn't listen. But yeah weak ref. Nearly caused a brawl by his dithering.

Should have got his cards out more often. That Ramsey and James tackles I mentioned were blatant yellows, and there were a few more very bad challenges, and to think he carded Wilson for running past a player!

Yes, can anyone tell me what that yellow was for ? I didn't see anything at the time. Their brute no. 5 was kicking, pulling, strangling Kieffer all over the pitch and didn't get a yellow for an hour !

All I saw of him was the arm movements. I think it was too much for him.

Fair enough everyone sees the game differently , I could be wrong but thought both Neco and Connor been really good overall last 2 games , got legs and able to keep possession , get out of tight areas and move forward, a bit more dynamic than Ben Davies … tricky to drop him tho! Mepham and Rodon been good enough too I'm a massive Roberts fan but hes just not been at it for a while for me. I thought his positioning was excellent but then you need to get a cross in and get them sweating. For whatever reason it was slow it down and play neat football with Wilson that allows Latvia to recover, he was doing the fullbacks job for him. I’m also a big Roberts fan and I agree with your view. Didn’t help that there was a lot of sideways stuff going on, I’d like to have seen the ball being played to Roberts earlier because I think he could have done a lot more damage.

Just read the thread, some really good points made. If we can see the shortcomings let’s hope that when Page and the coaching team review the video they identify the same things that we do. We were good value for the win but I’d really have liked to see a second goal. We’ve got form for giving late goals away so I’d like to have seen Page been more positive and brought the subs on earlier because momentum was shifting in their direction. As I’ve said we deserved the 3 points, but they forced Ward in to making a number of saves and they could easily have nicked a point - I’m sure Croatia fans think that's what we did to them on Saturday. I was there in 2016 when we drew with Georgia and Serbia which we could have won but didn’t.
In terms of Page I really want the guy to succeed, but I’m still not convinced with his game management. Denmark in the Euros and the WC were big disappointments for me.
