Three points is imperative at home against Latvia and, from an eventual 'goal difference' perspective in the table, a 3-0 win would also hit the spot. Goal difference v Latvia isn’t going to matter. It’s head to head points first, then goal difference between countries in question.

It’s head to head points first, then goal difference between countries in question. At least a draw away to Turkey and then beat them at home. That's always been the formula when we've looked to qualify for tournaments, we did it against the Czechs and we can do it again

OK, but still no harm in putting three past them!

That's always been the formula when we've looked to qualify for tournaments, we did it against the Czechs and we can do it again We also did it v Slovakia in the last euro campaign. We drew with Croatia just after but we could’ve afforded a loss as we had 4 points off the Slovaks. World Cup qualifying is overall GD so while you are right about getting 4 off Czechia, it’s not the same as in the euro qualifiers.

I just can't see Neco working as a Left-back. He struggles enough as an orthodox RB in a four at Forest let alone of the wrong side. Wing-back is ok, not Full-back off the wrong side. For all the talk about going 'after' a team like Latvia, I would at least consider the defensive structure as we know that goals might be an issue going forward so we can't risk making our own job harder by being overly loose at the wrong and and gifting one away to make things harder.

Does anyone know what the current ticket sales are?

Does anyone know what the current ticket sales are? It is tricky to ascertain exactly how many tickets have been sold because it’s impossible to tell how many tickets have been put on sale, but the sales look to have been decent so far. I’m guessing that over 27,000 have been sold, with only the corner of Ninian & Grange having more than singles available in the bowl. Partial blocks of the Ninian Upper have been put on sale, so I think the attendance may nudge 30,000, which for a Tuesday night against Latvia would be excellent.

Yet another reason we should never use the Principality Stadium. 27000 would look very sparse. TBF I think Noel gets it now. When he first got in, he threw out a few ‘ maximize opportunity to create revenue to put money back into the game ‘ but quickly realized the best way to make money is qualify for tournaments. I still think something is off in Wales. These games should be sell outs after our decade of decent results

People get their kicks from the sofa these days, plenty of ‘die-hard’ Man Utd & Liverpool fans in South Wales who’ve never set foot in any stadium anywhere.
And before anyone mentions the rugby, that has the day out element attached. Latvia on a Tuesday night is plainly not a social event.

He's had some experience playing left back at Liverpool, Forest, and with our younger age groups. It wouldn't be new to him. I think we can trust him there against Latvia where hopefully we will be on the front foot. With Eric Ramsey coming in, it looks like we're going to attempt to transition into a more possession-based team and we should be able to play in that way against Latvia. Our only other options are Morgan Fox or playing a back 5.

Latvia are playing a friendly against ROI tonight. Be nice if the Irish could kick lumps out of them - they’re good at that.

I've looked at the stadium map and don't think it's 27k sold. Bottom tier holds 28k and there's still a couple of thousand to shift near the away end and maybe another block which hasn't yet gone on sale. Top deck has only had the front half of a couple of sections gone on sale yet. I'd guess about 22k sold so far, expect 25k on the night.

I think 25k would be a good result for Latvia on a Tuesday night.

It’s not cheap to watch us now either, minimum of £34 for an adult going alone. I think the ticket sales have been positive, I didn’t expect the upper red tier to be open. It wasn’t for Netherlands or Belgium just days after qualifying for the WC!!!

Agree & what’s more it’s also Cardiff v Swansea the following weekend, not to mention Cardiff Rugby’s European Challenge Cup tie, so there is plenty of demand on people’s resources. Outside of 2 Six Nations games, these three events are the biggest to happen in Wales so far this year & they are all within 5 days of each other in the same city.

We have to remember that despite qualifying for the WC our fan base is smaller than many English clubs. I don't think we are helped by the midweek matches or the opposition either.

Cost of living like someone said earlier. I’m astonished people don’t want to be independent from the UK

Thanks for the offer that is very kind of you. I am going to ask maybe a stupid question but how would you download the tickets to your phone if they haven`t been sent to me.? How do i get them directed to another phone? Or do I go via the FAW help line? I'm not sure who you've already asked but when I had a "computer says no" experience a few years back, I emailed tickets@faw.co.uk to explain and someone kindly sorted it for me. If you're happy to pay for physical tickets and have simply clicked the wrong option when ordering, I'd hope they'd be as accommodating

They've scored a screamer from thirty yards and our track record of goals from distance is absolutely shocking. I'm quite concerned right now, we have to be really on it, Latvia look like they're going to be a banana skin for someone and I don't want it being us.

Kenny and the other Liverpool players thought Rush was a dud when he joined from Chester

Draw incoming next Tuesday, it's going to be a tough watch.
Historically, Ireland usually have a good defence so for Latvia to score 2 is a worry.
On another note, Ireland look to have overtaken us in terms of squad quality sadly.

On another note, Ireland look to have overtaken us in terms of squad quality sadly. I was actually quite underwhelmed when looking at that Irish squad. Might be my own ignorance, but they looked fairly average across the board. Having said that, if you compared out squads name by name I guess a case could be made for them edging it. They seem to have experimented a fair bit tonight so I don't think there's too much you can read into Latvia's performance. If anything, it should be a good warning sign for us going into the game and ensure there's no complacency. I just hope Saturday night won't have taken too much out of us!
