They have beaten ROI last year as well as beating Iceland and Romania the year before. They beat North Macedonia twice in the last four years. They will not be a pushover. 1-0 will make me happy. Me too mate 👍

Although, I would also be content with 1-0 let's not big-up Armenia too much. In addition to the good resuls you mention they have also been hammered by the the likes of Scotland, Ukraine, North Macedonia and Norway (9-0, no less) over the last year or two. They might be more potent going forward than Latvia but the latter are a more organised side defensively on the basis of their respective records. Given that we have a clutch of premier league forwards up against them, you'd expect us to score.

How are people feeling for this one, I'm personally hoping we go a bit more attacking than the Latvia game, I think we might need two goals to win this one as Armenia are a level above Latvia Ward Connor-Rodon-Mepham-Davies Ampadu-Ramsey Brennan-Wilson-DJ Moore I'm not sure if we've ever tried the Ramsey-Ampadu combo, so it's difficult to tell how well it would work. With Ampadu playing on Sunday, I imagine he won't be training with us until tomorrow, so there's little time for them to form an understanding. Personally I would start with Morrell in place of Wilson. That then gives us the scope to go a bit more attacking and bring Wilson off the bench should we need it. If we start with all our trump cards, we have little room to change things in-game.

I’m expecting Ward/Hennessy (depending who’s fitter) Connor Mepham Rodon Davies Morell Ampadu Rambo Wilson James Brennan Seeing Davies in lineups as one of two centre backs is a real pet hate of mine. I think it would be a crazy thing to do given he's barely played there, and every time Mourinho did experiment with that it was disastrous. It will be a Meps-Rodon pairing and rightly so.

I'd have four at the back and the same four against Turkey with Neco coming on if necessary to change the shape. If we come out of these games unbeaten and with four more points we've got one foot in the Euros, Croatia will beat Turkey again.

This is the game to take the bull by the horns, get a lead and then bring Morrell on to tighten things up in my opinion I think the other way around and start more conservatively is a little risky against a side that will be better than Latvia going forward and equally difficult to break down. Having Brennan & Davies back makes me confident enough to want to try Ramsey-Ampadu

I agree I don't think we should be putting him there. But to be fair to Davies I remember the games he played at CB in a 4 and for one of them he was good, and for the other he mis-placed a pass which led to a goal, which obviously was taken as a mistake, but in my opinion not a reason to say he can't play the role. If he was caught out positionally or something then I'd completely rule out his ability to do it, but a mis-placed pass isn't necessarily a reason against him in that position in my opinion I actually think in the future that will end up being his position for us, but he does need to play there more at club level before it becomes an option for us

We very rarely convincingly put away 'inferior' sides, and it's often when we line up with the most attacking of formations that we end up looking disjointed and, counterintuitively, much poorer going forward. It's all about striking the right balance. I just fear Armenia are going to present similar challenges to when we were lucky to get away with the 1-1 draw against Georgia or when we lost heavily to Slovakia. That they're going to be a stubborn opposition with much more technical ability than their results and personnel would suggest. I had no idea who any of the Georgian players were, but they were technically very decent and outplayed us by a mile. Our attitude needs to be spot on going into this.

You obviously under rate our players, we have a decent side and on our day we can give anyone a game. What I an worried about is pages lack of management skills, we should have hammered Latvia but let them have a go at us by not making substitutions when they were needed, if substitutions are managed correctly we can win this game comfortably, we just cannot afford to balls this one up.

I don't believe we will win by any considerable margin - 2-0 the max I'd say. A draw wouldn't be surprising either.
What I do want to see though, is us being braver on the ball, and more ambitious going forward.
The Latvia performance was very underwhelming, and we could/should be doing better than clinging on to a 1-0 win at home to a side like that. However Armenia are a better team, so who knows what will happen.
Most of all, I'm interested in seeing how Page performs rather than the players, because I still think he is the weak link in the current setup.

Read my previous posts on this, I've been saying this whole time that we need to be very careful against Armenia and that I don't expect an easy game. But that doesn't mean we shouldn't be attacking In my opinion, whenever we have gone more attacking and looked disjointed in recent times, that has almost always been against opposition that are on a par or better than us. I don't actually recall us doing it against any of the lesser sides we've played, where we've usually played it safe Because Armenia will let us have the ball and sit in, that's why we need to be more creative in the midfield

We were lucky to win out there and created very little opportunities. I just don't think it's as simple as: the more attack-minded players we cram in, the better attacking performance we'll see. We need to have the right base to build form and having established partnerships etc. is an important factor.

You're right, we decided to cling on to the 1-0 win rather than going for the second, which was completely the wrong way of approaching it imo. Hopefully, with Eric Ramsey and other coaches having more time to settle in, we'll see more of their stamp on how we play - particularly from an attacking perspective. We saw some of it in the last fixtures, but hopefully that will go up another level.

Against Estonia we were playing an asymmetric 3-5-2 with Sorba as a LWB in his first start, DJ upfront, no ball winning midfielder, and Wilson as an 8. That really was a case of cramming in attackers The lineup I've suggested is not cramming players in. Everyone is playing in the natural positions, round pegs in round holes, and Ramsey who you're suggesting is being crammed into an unfamiliar role has actually been playing that same role for Nice this season as a number 8

I've probably seen about half of Nice's games this season where Ramsey has played in quite a few different roles. You're right that he's played quite a bit in a deeper midfield role, and been very good, but in quite a different system and dynamic to what you're suggesting. For Nice, he often played almost on his own at the base, in a deep playmaker type of role, and crucially he had young midfielders either side of him to do all the running for him (most notably Thuram, who's likely moving to Liverpool). Ampadu isn't someone who will run all day in the same way, he's also better suited playing at the base (potentially on his own) where he can sweep things up and distribute. I may be completely wrong, but I just think we would have a better base to build from (and thus better going forward too) with Morrell in there. Then we would have Wilson to come off the bench to add something different should we need it, like he did out in Prague.

I know this is a fuckup on my part for not reading properly, realized the number associated to my account is badly out of date from when I singed up so I still havent recieved my ticket to my phone, I emailed the FAW ticket office yesterday evening but was wondering if anyone on here has an idea for how to go about this. I.E is there a number I can call or can I go to the ticket office as a last resort? Don't really care about cost at the end of the day.
Edit All sorted, panic over

Maybe we did look sharp and positive for the first 45-60mins, but I personally didn't find us playing at a very high tempo at all. Even in the first half it was all quite pedestrian like for my liking. It looked like we were giving Latvia too much respect and were taking a win for granted. Or maybe the gameplan was to not go all out? I wasn't too far from the dugout, and I saw Page gesturing at Neco to stay back a few times in the second half. Quite frustrating to see a manager behave in such a negative way when we have players who like going forward. I would also like to see us bringing on fresh players earlier in this game. Obviously we know that Page doesn't have much self confidence in his managerial abilities, but he needs to realise that making changes can affect a game positively. The Broadhead sub vs Croatia was a complete fluke imo, as he was only chucking on players to save legs for Latvia. He needs to be braver and more progressive. But we've been saying that for almost two years now........

Tom King, Joe Low and Oli Cooper out of the matchday squad Why do we keep calling up King as a 4th keeper? Probably training. If they wanted to do small sided games and have four teams. Or use him with the outfield players doing a function and have the rest of the keepers doing individual specific keeper training. Striker practice and stick him in net. Scott Carson of Wales basically.

Yeah I was surprised to see that he was called up. Suspect the Lockyer call up would have gone to Turns had Ed not been injured. I’d wager Poole is a better player too. Perhaps Low’s left footed, and that was the key reason?

Low was obviously the pick of the bunch from the EFL/U21 camp in that position, but was always very unlikely he'd get on the pitch this time around - still good experience for the lad tho!
Agree with other posters, Turns is a left footed CB who had been in great form at the top end of League One so I'd be shocked if he isn't included as soon as he's fit. Think he'll be due a Championship loan next season now
Involving him might free up Ben Davies to be our LWB in a back 5. Or if we continue with the 4-2-3-1 I can see Turns overtaking Rodon in the next few years, particularly because he's left footed

On this Low selection, what happened with that Denham kid from Cardiff that Page chose for a few squads last year? Another victim of the managerial/structural circus at Cardiff. Had a couple of promising cup appearances, particularly away to Liverpool. Was involved in a few match day squads with the thinking that he, along with King, Colwill & Isaak Davies would form the basis of the side under Steve Morison the following season Then all of a sudden Morison signs about 15 players, Colwill & Davies get injured through pre-season and King gets shipped out on loan. Denham was probably the roast likely to get minutes out of those 4, as CB is such an important position. He hasn't had a look in since and needs a loan now
