Nathan Shephard is playing at Dundalk isn't he? That's a decent level Very true. But if we’re going to pick a fourth choice keeper that’s not going to play anyway, I’d rather see the Cymru Premier get the rub if the League of Ireland is the alternative. The lad has 9 U21 caps and is only 22 so he’s no scrub. Playing really well too. Must have made 5 or 6 cracking saves against TNS and almost singlehandedly got them a point. Seems to make a couple of great saves every match going by the highlights. He looks to be a cut above the usual Cymru Prem standard of goalkeeper.

Many poor teams over the years have done a lot more than expected with a good manager. Unfortunately we have a very very limited manager that has been exposed by his opposition on numerous times. We may not have the likes of Bale to win us games anymore BUT having such an average manager certainly isn’t/ hasn’t helped us. Name one welsh team that has? We haven’t got a decent side we need younger players making their mark at club level and being brought through the system. At the moment there is no exciting talent like your bale, Allen, Ramsey, Hennessy look what those guys did at under 21 level. Less so bale as he was too good. Even more of a reason to have a Wiley old fox of a manager!!

Matondo called up.
Good to see that a short run of form, albeit for barely over a week, has meant a late call up.

Good for him, but Matondo over Hedges is just ridiculous.

Not sure if it should have it's own thread but, with credit to dragonsoccer.co.uk, "New coach for September 2023 camp, FA Wales to confirm."
Assuming all I's dotted, T's crossed, I wonder if that will be a permanent deal or just for this camp?

One is a regular championship footballer of around 3 years, and the other has had a few decent games after a long spell of doing nothing at all of note. Please, make it make sense?

How much longer will Tom be out injured, I feel sure Page will be itching to ignore him!

An in and out Championship footballer, who is 28 and still isn't commanding a starting berth at that level, and the other has been in and out for one of the big two in Scotland but is only 22 with time on his side Hardly a ridiculous call

Matondo's probably more the profile you'd want for an impact sub / someone who can change the dynamics. Definitely a close call and daft to describ it as ridiculous to select one over the other

Well I criticise him enough and so I am very happy than he has now picked Matando for the squad as we need a rapid impact forward.
If he reads this then I do not hate you Robert! I just want to see signs that things are improving and that you are developing as a coach and taking responsibility / making decision when things are not happening on the pitch. All of us should be capable of developing / improving ourselves in the job - you need to quickly start doing the same. We all know the squad is mediocre but managers of small nations outsmarting and humiliating us, especially on our home ground, should not be happening given our resources.

Hopefully there'll be a replacement called up, just the 3 proper centre backs without him in the squad

I'd call in Regan Poole, however I expect it to be one of the U21s. If I was picking from the U21s I'd go for Ed Turns, although Joe Low could be favoured given he's been involved before (albeit Turns was injured then)

Replacement for Eric Ramsay who is thinking longer term with a second child (see you in your own thread in about 16 years, kid!!) and growing influence at Man United. Jack Lester who is first team coach at Sheffield United and speaks well: www.youtube.com/watch?v=hTpa4O7JeuU(you can youtube search: "Jack Lester | New Sheffield United role | SUTV Interview" if you want to find it independently)

What's everyone think re: lineups for this? I'm expecting;
Ward Connor-Mepham-Rodon-Davies Ampadu-JJ Wilson-Ramsey-Broadhead Brennan
What I' hoping for;
Ward Neco-Cabango-Rodon-Davies Ampadu-Sheehan Brooks-Ramsey-Broadhead Brennan

Davies Mepham Rodon Davies Roberts Ampadu Neco Wilson Ramsey Brooks Brennan
Yes im trying to shoe horn in all the players who are playing. Problem with the goalkeeper and Davies seems closest to starting 11 in a the premiership

We have a real issue about who is playing alongside Ampadu. Jordan James has been playing further upfield this season for Birmingham, and Sheehan's barely been involved with our camp for years.

I think it will be a midfield pairing of Ampadu and Ramsey again, I just can't see him starting Sheehan or James. I think he will change it though by going with a back 5. My prediction:
Ward Mepham Rodon Davies Roberts Ampadu Ramsey Neco Wilson Johnson Brooks
Personally I'd probably go with a back 4, and bring in Sheehan ahead of Roberts or Neco. If we do go with a Ampadu-Rambo combo again and get overrun in midfield, Page will rightly get pelters for it.

I think he might be inclined to give Sheehan a good run out against Korea and if he impresses he'll go straight in next to Ampadu for the Latvia game. I'm assuming Sheehan plays a sort of Allen/Morrell role but don't know what kind of player he is if I'm honest

I think under 21s were meeting today so likely reason Colwill and Crew were training with the firsts yesterday. Assume they'll probably be linking up the rest of U21s today.

But he will receive, control and protect the ball in tight situations, switch play and find the right, simple and sensible pass. He looks fitter than he has been in recent years, recovered and doesn't seem preoccupied with the serious injury he received a couple of seasons ago. This is probably his best and last chance, with Morrell being out for Latvia, to get regular international exposure. Really hope Josh gets his chance in the friendly to go big or bust.
