Why is Chris Maxwell continually overlooked & looking at the list of appearances above playing at a higher level than anyone else.
Has he upset someone at the FAW?

Sheffield United have just spent a couple of million on a young keeper, coming back from injury, from Plymouth.
Not the best day to concede two, Adam, but keep going and keep hold of those gloves!

If Davies plays another couple of games but is then dropped, who do we think should start for us, Davies or Ward?
I'd be tempted to lean towards Davies just for the freshness of minutes. It also sends a message

It also sends a message Don't think Ward should be anywhere near it. Wouldn't even call him up. He's barely played any footy and probably won't even make their match day squad. My 3 for September would probably be Adam Davies Callum Burton Owen Evans

It also sends a message Id maybe call up Ward for continuity of players, but he would be 2nd or 3rd choice. As his performances have proved we need a keeper who is playing and is sharp, im not sure whether the level matters.

If Davies keeps playing up until the game on the 6th September then it's hard to argue for anyone but him to start in the nations league. Got to send that message.

So I think I'd still have him in the squad ahead of Burton, but I'd be starting Davies for sure

Ward on the bench last night for Leicester, also looks to have got a bit of game time during pre season and should be expected to start against Tranmere in the Carabao cup next week.

Leicester number 1 from last season Jakub Stolarczyk got an ankle injury during end of July out for 6 months.
I would expect once he returns Ward will be back to 3rd choice by the new year or sooner.
I'd say make the most of it. Hopefully, Leicester can get a bit of a cup run going so he can get minutes.

I wouldn't even expect him to get a start in the cup either tbh. If their number 1 is currently out then I expect that they will just let the number 2 get as many games as possible, including the cup, and Ward is essentially just there in case there is an injury crisis

Hermansen is the number one goalkeeper, played almost all of their games last season. Very much a Maresca type of keeper. Ward is temporarily number 2.
I recall an insightful Leicester fan making the observation during Leicester’s relegation season to the effect of Ward looking like a man who had had his bluff called and that seems spot on the more time passes. Ward just wants to get paid and not be put in a situation where he has to show some ability to earn it.

Beach started this evening for Crawley in the EFL Trophy. Do worry with him being at Chelsea. Same issues of Ampadu getting lost in it all there. Now it's gone to next level.
Weird to be sending a promising young goalkeeper to sit on the bench in League One.

Karl Darlow called up according to Alan Nixon (and reposted by ds so I assume it's true?) x.com/reluctantnicko/status/1827600909339177324Surprising if true. I know we're desperate but he's another one that barely plays, and he'll be 34 soon so is hardly one for the future either. He obviously turned us down in the past too, so can't say I'm too enthused about this one. Would have preferred Owen Evans or David Harrington if we were calling someone new up.

I’d like the widest player pool possible, but how many approaches does he need? Bit annoyed if true. The one eligible player I wouldn’t touch with a barge pole. And he’s another bloody back-up! Also I’m surprised Bellars of everyone would even entertain such a stomach-churning prospect! I’m finding it hard to get behind Jay DaSilva - but at least he’s 1998 born with several years ahead of him.

Wonder if Darlow had played for a club team with as many Welsh lads as Leeds have now, he might have been convinced? 33 now though so no real point. Promising to see Davies get a game at least Shit did I make this happen

Leicester lining up Kaminski from Luton for £10 million. Surely it makes sense for all parties that Ward leaves, if only on loan?

Leicester lining up Kaminski from Luton for £10 million. Surely it makes sense for all parties that Ward leaves, if only on loan? You'd think so. Think only time they'd offload, is either a permanent deal at a cut price, or a loan with the club paying his wages or a good proportion of it instead of Leicester. Given only 1 year left of his current contract I just can't see teams any higher than League One wanting to sign him where he's currently priced out of.

Preston’s third choice keeper is a James Pradic. 19 year old.
Another one to add to the future potentials.

Danny Ward not even in today's squad Thought he might go for a loan you cant blame him picking up the wages he gets for being 3 rd choice really, but he needs to drop down a division and be a regular starter once his contract ends[think he is in last year now] not join another EPL club as 3 rd choice, he is still only 31

17 year old Lewys Benjamin seems to be first choice for Wolves Under-21's this season so that's an encouraging one for the future.
