With the the EFL season started. Thought it'd be worth a thread being created to track Welsh goalkeeper involvement within the EFL or a professional standard at least.
Starting
On the bench- Karl Darlow+ (Leeds, Championship)
- Jonathan Bond+ (Watford, Championship)
- Dai Cornell (Preston, Championship)
- Eddie Beach (Crawley, League One)
- Chris Maxwell (Huddersfield, League One)
- Callum Burton+ (Wrexham, League One)
- Dave Richards (Dundee United, SPL)
+ Eligible for Wales but not committed Still a long time to go in the summer. Expect a few young lads to go out on loan or sold.

Still a long way to go. Lots of lads early in their careers. Besides Owen Evans very few keepers playing regularly within their mid 20s.
Dan Barden, Matt Turner, Lewys Benjamin, Jamie Pradic, Evan Watts, Jake Dennis and Josey Casa-Granda all expect them to leave not sure when and at what level but important they're starting and getting minutes

Yeah very true,I was thinking if Davies plays alot he can take wards place, nothing against ward but the fact our international keeper never actually plays is mind boggling

Sheffield United strongly linked with Carl Rushworth on loan from Brighton. Davies will be back on the bench soon...

Wonder if Darlow had played for a club team with as many Welsh lads as Leeds have now, he might have been convinced? 33 now though so no real point.
Promising to see Davies get a game at least

It's the trouble with the nation league games they matter a bit more to experiment with keepers. If we did play them you could call up 3 other keepers have a better look at them.
Part of me would be saying to call up Beach as third choice but at the same time with Crawleys number one being called up to Ghana, it might be beneficial not to so he can get minutes in the league in Wollacots absence.

Connor Roberts is starting for TNS every week and could well end up playing in the group stages of the Europa Conference League if all goes well for them.

Was thinking he wouldn't be a bad shout and was called up years ago wasn't he under Coleman? I thought Kelland Absalom would've got a higher move in the summer from Bala but he's ended up in Weston-super-Mare in Tier 6.

Good to see Davies starting the first game and great if he keeps his place, but I don't think he's the right profile at all for what Bellamy wants to do unfortunately. Can't say I've seen much of him, but he does look like a very old school keeper who's a decent shotstopper, but had no clue what to do with the ball at his feet. The latter is going to become more important under Bellamy. Ward isn't brilliant at it, but probably a fair bit better than Davies. Still, might be worth bringing Davies in as a message is nothing else

Still, might be worth bringing Davies in as a message is nothing else Not sure we have a keeper that matches Bellamy and I do wonder if it's just a case of playing whoever is actually getting games. We're not really in a position to be too picky about style. Ward has been complacent about his place in the XI and I'd lack to see that used against him to select a playing GK I accept that may mean Davies who isn't the most gifted may be under a bit of pressure to do better with his feet. But hopefully the team as a whole makes up for that by using the ball better. It wouldn't completely surprise me to see a young ball playing keeper tried. Left field and risky but perhaps that would make us better at keeping the ball, and could many keepers do worse than Ward in the last game? I'm not sure!

Eddie Beach started out as an outfield player and has spoken about his confidence with his feet, that's why I have so much hope!

Thought the EFL cup games would give us a chance to see more Welsh keepers in action. Unfortunately doesn't look like the case...I've taken Jonathan Bond off the list. I'll do the same for Karl Darlow.
Starting
Chris Maxwell (Huddersfield, League One) Callum Burton+ (Wrexham, League One)
On the bench
Adam Davies (Sheffield United, Championship) Matt Turner (Cardiff, Championship) Dai Cornell (Preston, Championship) David Harrington+ (Fleetwood, League Two) Eddie Beach (Crawley, League One)
+ Eligible for Wales but not committed

Josh Griffiths 22, on loan from WBA to Bristol Rovers playing tonight against Cardiff. Has played England U21. Born in Hereford and with a name like Griffiths any chance he has eligibility for us ?

Yes he's ineligible. All players on the "confirmed ineligible" thread have been confirmed by Dragon Soccer, who always shares when the FAW check a player

Sheff Utd have signed Cooper from Plymouth. So he's definitely gone back to 2nd or 3rd choice.
Was looking at other countries who struggled with goalkeepers. Came across an article about Nigeria's ongoing struggles. It's still a work in progress for them but they had to call up keepers playing in Israel, South Africa and even in their own domestic league. They valued a keeper playing regularly over ones sitting on the bench.
I think if we did the same you'd be looking at the likes of League 2 goalkeepers or Cymru Prem

Not saying he should start or anything, but he is far more deserving of a place than King and Davies in my opinion

I think so. We can't keep rewarding lads who aren't playing with caps and call ups.
The quality between Ward, Davies and King is on par with a League 1 or 2 keeper anyway. It's not as if any of them are streets ahead of the Welsh keepers not being called up.
