Somehow Panevezys aren't down to 10 men. One of their players jumps into a tackle about 4 feet off the ground leading with both feet in a stamping motion, makes contact with the TNS player and after VAR review it is deemed not to be a red. Have absolutely no idea what the ref is watching - a red card 10 times out of 10

Congrats to TNS. Finally did themselves justice with an excellent performance throughout. Second and third goals were excellent.
I wonder how much they will make out of making the group stages of the Conference?

When the Vaughans took over at Bangor it would have been a massive catalyst if it would have been anyone else but those crooks. They did pump money in and created a very exciting side under Andy Legg, the only problem was where the money actually was coming from and the club being used as a launderette. But TNS were clearly shaken by it all and were comprehensively beaten on the opening day of the season at Nantporth. it just shows that TNS could be knocked off their perch under the right circumstances. The problem you have is that the money men usually take over a small side and artificially promote it above its usual level. But that growth is finite, be it an apathetic or low populated catchment area. All due respect but Connah’s Quay Nomads in its usual guise would not be a ‘Super 12’ side and Bala may well still be in the recreational leagues without the backing of Nigel Aykroyd. I do wonder what would have been achieved if Gary Dewhurt had decided to invest in a club with actual upside rather than Connah’s Quay Nomads, without even a ground of their own and with no apparent upside. Investment is one thing but you need a buzz about the place too. Nomads’ crowds remained as flat as ever despite winning the league twice in a row.. 100% agree with this. One club with no fans you can get away but these clubs like TNS, Nomads, Bala, Cardiff Met we're talking almost half the league here. People see empty grounds either attending or watching the highlights, clips etc. Just makes it look tinpot. We need businesses to invest in well supported clubs something like the Stockport County owner. Mega rich local lad who only wants the best for the club Is there an argument for having less restrictions on ground criteria? If to have a tier 1 licence you need a ground with a minimum of 2,000 (not sure the exact amount) then surely the problem is the criteria.

Amazing from TNS. I know some won't agree, but this'll be a big step forward for Welsh football.

A chance for quite a few Welsh players to play at quite a high level too.
Even based where they are, TNS have more Welsh players in their usual starting XI than any professional club based in Wales.
For instance all three goal-scorers tonight were Welsh.

If they make the group stages of the Conference League TNS are guaranteed a minimum of 3.17 million Euros. Serious money.
Wrexham, Swansea and Cardiff would be stupid not to consider taking a Cymru Premier club over as a feeder club with this sort of money available. With proper competition for TNS this could be the making of the Cymru Premier as a meaningful competition. It would mirror the Celtic / Rangers duopoly, albeit obviously at a lower level.

With money from the qualification rounds TNS are guaranteed a minimum 3.87 million Euros should they make the Conference League stage. They may also play Chelsea. Tasty.
We really need one of Wrexham, Swansea or Cardiff to take over a Cymru Premier club as a feeder, and give TNS a run for their money. Otherwise the Cymru Premier will become even more ridiculously uncompetitive than it is already.
For context Caernarfon only made 350,000 Euros for making it through the first qualification round - less than a tenth of TNSs earnings if they make it past the Lithuanian champions.

Can you explain the breakdown? My understanding it's 175,000 per qualification round. Unless there's extra money from elsewhere?

There's a Bonus for dropping out in the second qualifying round of 350,000 Euros, which added to the 175,000 for participating in each of the 2 knockout rounds comes to 700K.

Hopefully TNS qualifying wakes up teams to the potential the Cymru Premier has and there are more interested parties who start to see Europe as a viable thing within reaching distance rather than a pipe dream

Trouble is the money TNS are likely to make from this year's success is only going to make the Cymru Premier even more hopelessly uncompetitive than it already is, in the short to medium term at least. It really needs a rich business person or the aforementioned clubs to fully understand the opportunity that exists for a full time Llanelli or Bangor.

At least the rest of the league will get solidarity payments from UEFA as a result (something I only learned about yesterday). But I have no idea how much that is, and doubt it gets near to the £3m+ winnings that TNS can expect.

Assuming they finish the job and qualify, what's the next step? Keeping 4 teams in the qualifiers is a must so the goal needs to be to stay inside the top 50 league coefficient going forward but can we kick on further from there?
You feel there would need to be serious investment in at least 1 more team in the league for that to happen.

Given that Vincent Tan already owns several clubs I can see him buying out a Cymru Premier side with a view to getting his hands on the European money. It's easy money at the end of the day.

Payments to non-participating clubs through their national associations from the total projected gross revenues of the three European cups
Total amount to be distributed € 308 M Source: uefa.com
If every association gets the same amount that would be £5.6 million divided amongst the clubs that haven't qualified for Europe. My guess is that the money isn't divided equally. I also seem to recall that the money has to be spent on youth programs.

Correct - (In the group stages) Two points are awarded for each win by a club, and one for a draw (points are halved in the qualifying rounds).

Correct - (In the group stages) Two points are awarded for each win by a club, and one for a draw (points are halved in the qualifying rounds). So if they make it a win is worth 0.5 for the coefficient and a draw 0.25 For those interested, you can see here how Cymru Premier clubs are doing against our rival leagues. We've got to accrue the coefficient points ourselves but also do better than nations around us if we are to move up. www.football-coefficient.eu/coefficient/#table-country-coefficientsCymru are in position 52 out of 55 based on the previous 5 years of results. So far this season we've gotten 1.375 points (TNS have won 2 games and drawn 2, CQN and Caernarfon won one each, Bala drew once. Each victory is worth a point, and each draw is worth half a point. So TNS have gathered just over half the 5.5 points. But this is divided by 4 (clubs) to give us that 1.375 average so far). Interestingly, out of the countries ranked 42-55 only four of them still have clubs in Europe. TNS beat Lithuanian (ranked 44th) champions Panevezys last night. Another win in the home match would add another 0.25 to the Cymru coefficient. The other clubs of interest are Gibraltar (ranked 54th) with their Red Imps who beat Northern Ireland's (ranked 42nd) Larne this week in the same round as TNS. I'm torn as to which of those two I'd want to do well in the second leg. The other thing to mention to those asking how many chances TNS get this season?, is that if they had lost their first tie in the champions league qualifying, they'd have dropped into the conference league immediately rather than the Europa league. I think TNS have been very lucky to have drawn Panevezys since the Lithuanian team have self-destructed since winning the league there last season. I'm with the majority here who really don't like TNS's dominance domestically, but am happy for them to bump up the coefficient. Should they reach the group stages, I'm hoping that will provide a distraction that other teams in the league can capitalise upon. No more postponements if they reach the group phase.

With being in pot 4 TNS would have a decent chance of a couple of wins and another 800K Euros.
