www.thisissouthwales.co.uk/story-16030874-detail/story.htmlI haven't seen Edwards play but this story caught my eye as a) another welsh speaking swan b) a winger and c) a 3 year contract at a premier league club. This last one is significant and i would expect him to go out on loan when he gets a bit of meat on his bones. Any thoughts on his potential as a future international.

Apparently he only signed after a missing out on a berth with Only Boys Aloud but their loss could be our gain. Seriously though the fact that a Premier League club see fit to offer a 19 year old a 3 year contract (thats a long contract) stands out like dog's balls. Let's hope he develops. On that topic what happened to the young lad Huws who mistakenly went to Man City

No idea what happened to Huws but I wonder if he now regrets moving?

Rodgers has cut the english apron strings and the rest will follow. Watching the four championship sides in the semis this week i had to say that Brum and Cardiff were fucking awful, blackpool slightly better and West Ham were comfortable because of the individuals they had and Allardyces basic formula but with respect to the premier league looked canon fodder. Chris Coleman should be watching BR's sessions and learning because the Game is now all about grafting British players into a Dutch/spanish style. The teams that do that best will be succesful and the rest will increasingly look like dinosaurs. Thank Evans that Gwion Edwards is with Rodgers.

Great news that Ceredigion players are finally being given the chance at Swansea. Historically Ceredigion has been ignored by Welsh Football League clubs, and have gravitated towards Shrewsbury and Hereford instead. If Swansea want to grow as a club they have to establish the whole of South-West Wales as their "patch", not just the Swansea Bay area, which has been the historical pattern. So, good news all round.

I agree with you but it's only recently we've had the sort of money to expand on our youth scouting/development, even our scouting within the immediate local area has been third rate. Hopefully we'll see more & more Gwion Edwards's in the future. There's plenty of talented young players in Swansea City's underage teams, many of them from West Wales.
We've also just given a young lad (16) called Alex Samuel a 2 year development contract from Aberystwyth Town.
Regarding Edwards, he must have something about him to be a given a 3 year contract, that's unheard of for us, Rodgers must see big potential in him.

An excellent piece that! Well worth keeping an eye on. Interesting to see that ex Swan, Rory Fallon plays for St Johnstone also.

The quality of that goal could have earned him an opportunity at a higher level yet. He's scored a few crackers during his time at Peterborough so maybe someone in the Championship will take a punt on him before transfer deadline on Thursday.

Gwion scored another goal and bagged two assists tonight. Could be another league 1 player moving up a division in the coming transfer window.

Tend to find that this website is full of it... "Sheffield United and QPR chase Edwards..." www.hitc.com/en-gb/2017/12/18/sheffield-united-and-qpr-chase-edwards/Sheffield United and Queens Park Rangers are eyeing moves for highly-rated Peterborough United winger Gwion Edwards, HITC Sport understands. Edwards has impressed at Peterborough since joining the club from Crawley Town in the summer of 2016. The former Swansea City youngster is regarded as one of the best attackers outside the top two leagues following a string of impressive performances for Peterborough. Edwards has scored six goals and laid on five assists in 26 games in all competitions for Posh so far this term and his displays have not gone unnoticed elsewhere higher up the football pyramid. Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder is looking to add some pace and width to his side in the second half of the season after a mini-slump in form and Edwards is thought to figure highly on his wanted list. Queens Park Rangers are also in the market for attacking reinforcements as they are among the lowest goalscorers in the Championship and Ian Holloway wants to add some creativity to his side as he looks to lift them clear of trouble at the wrong end of the table. Peterborough would be eluctant to lose Edwards in January as they look to maintain their bid for promotion from League One, but they are bracing themselves for interest in Edwards.
