Absolutely delighted for him.
I take this as confirmation that Bale is 100% out now.

Good to see Gwion involved as in think he will be a decent player.
Not sure where he would fit into the Welsh team though.

Arguably could have been more of a threat up front today.

Arguably could have been more of a threat up front today. past 12-18 months he has played RB/RWB/LW/RW - playing on the right in a front 3 last month or so.

Sad thing is Giggs seems to like his kids who aren't playing regularly. I think he's trying to be like Toshack in that sense.
Issue is Ramsey, Bale, Gunter, Ledley were all playing in the championship at 17.

He's clearly talented, but he's had one stint in the championship and that wasn't particularly successful. From recollection, his greatest issue is his inconsistency. He's a bit of a maverick and can produce moments of magic, but is not nearly consistent enough at a high level. He's way off our squad for me, he would need to earn a championship move and impress at that level before challenging the likes of lawrence, matondo and wilson for those backup forward options.
Every time there's a poor performance, the players who don't play get massively hyped beyond their ability, just because they weren't involved in the shitfest. A lot of that has gone on today - some people are more guilty of it than others (dai I'm looking at you). I think it would be very naïve to think that someone like Gwion Edwards (or hedges for that matter) would have made the slightest bit of difference today.

The fact that Gwion Edwards plays in League 1 is hardly an excuse not to pick him as we have plenty of players who are probably at the same standard (Woodburn, Matthew Smith, Morrell etc) and then players who already play in League 1 (Jonny, Levitt, Gunter).

The only valid comparison there is woodburn, as all the others play in other positions. I think we can all agree that wide forward is the one position where we do have significant depth, whilst cm is where we're most lacking. Also, it's different being an up and comer in a L1 side than a mid-twenty something who's failed to make the grade at a higher level

Signed for Morecambe today after being released by Wigan at the end of last season. Joins Eli King and James Connolly as part of our Welsh contingent.
Have to admit I know very little about him. Reading through this thread it seems like he had some promise in his earlier years and even made a few senior squads. Could anyone give an idea of what he's like?

Looks like James Connolly has gone back to Bristol Rovers due to their injury crisis. Of course I found the link via Dragon Soccer's website: www.bristolrovers.co.uk/news/20242/january/3.1.24-james-connolly-recalled/

Hopefully we can keep hold of Eli but it's looking unlikely.

I was at that game, Gwion played really well, Newport really struggled to contain him and he caused the half decent Adam Lewis a number of problems. Shame his career never hit the heights it probably should have for someone who possesses the talent that he has.

We’ve been easing him into fitness so has only really been ready to play 90 mins in the last couple of weeks but looks very good. Can tell he’s one of those players that is probably technically too good for league two so if he can get a good run of games under him I wouldn’t be surprised if he moved back up a league in the summer
