It gets overlooked how important his absence against Portugal was because of Rambo’s suspension, but we missed him just as much. He is one of our most important players and barely puts a foot wrong.

He will go down as this generations' Mark Pembridge (although a better player and prospect).
Always there, always reliable, an understated talent.
He seriously needs to be played at LB or LWB going forward, he is 10 times the player Taylor is.

He's playing really well at the moment. It'll be interesting to see what happens when Rose is fit, as in my opinion Ben's a better allround player .

Great article this: www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2017/10/01/ben-davies-showing-spurs-benefits-danish-education/Didn't know about his three years living in Denmark and playing for a Danish academy. Might explain his cultured style of play. I particularly like this quote from Pochettino: “For me, he is one of the best full-backs in the Premier League,” Pochettino said. “The performance was fantastic. OK, Harry Kane, but Ben was also one of the best on the pitch in defending and attacking. His energy is fantastic.”

Super Ben Davies would work just fine. Especially now Starman has another little ditty dedicated to him.

Just think, our wing backs system might actually work if we played one who can actually attack and put a cross in! He seems to be getting into goalscoring positions too given the nature of his recent Spurs goal and his slight mis control when through on goal against Moldova. Problem is it wasnt hard enough finding a 3rd centre back we will probably have to find a 2nd AND 3rd one after this campaign as Williams looks shot to bits on current form. I can see an interim period of Davies and Chester as centre backs in a back 4 as we don't seem to have anyone of Prem or Championship quality coming through in the CB position and Williams and Collins are fast approaching international retirement. Dummett is as close as it gets and given his career history I doubt we will see him in a Wales shirt.

No offence to the guy but the one time he played centre back was as good as any game he has had at full/wing back. There has to be a very good reason why that selection was not persevered with like it was with Davies. He certainly didn't look out of place there and against Belgium's attack too!

There has been such a focus by the media on Ben Davies over the last two weeks.
To be fair when one of ours players emerges / is playing exceptionally well - the media are aware of it and focuses on the players.
The amount of attention our players get nowadays actually highlights how good we are now and how poor we were in the not too distant past!
I really hope the boys can do it. I just think the team aided by the two or three youngsters breaking through could help light up the world cup a little.

Flynn on record years ago saying centre half was Chinup's best position A top defender who can occupy both full back and centre back positions. Do we have a Sergio Ramos on our hands here?

Maybe John's loan spell will do him the world of good, which then means Davies can stay as one of the three CB's. The right WB spot I am worried about. We need a 'Mark Delaney' type from somewhere but I can't think of many young Welsh right sided defenders: Connor Roberts but he was loaned to Mboro and plays for their U21's, a strange move indeed. I would also speak to Dummett about coming back as once Ash and Ginge are gone we will need him.

Davies needs to stay at LB in a back four. He's done enough already to prove he's one of the best around.
No doubt his versatility will come in handy if things get desperate but hopefully it won't come to that.

Ben should be first choice for Spurs every week if fit. Not that impressed with Danny Rose but he is English, so will probably be in very soon.

Flynn on record years ago saying centre half was Chinup's best position A top defender who can occupy both full back and centre back positions. Do we have a Sergio Ramos on our hands here? Yes - I was waiting for our player of the year to turn up and save us versus Ireland, just like Ramos typically does for Real Madrid ...... Think Gunter could be a stop gap but would obviously be a weakness given that is not his position, his height, etc. However, at least it would allow us to replace him at full back with a more attacking alternative. Think we probably move to four at the back if all these attacking options come through and we have limited cover at centre back? I guess in that scenario then using Gunter/Davies is not really as effective? You can fake it as pact of a trio of centre backs but not in a two?

Big result and a big night for Ben on his 101st appearance for Spurs, through to the last 16 already in a tough group they may yet win.
He's a class act.

Didn't pull up any trees tonight but decent enough. He might need to do more to keep his place ahead of Rose.
I really dislike how well Kane and Alli are playing though!
