My Welsh isn't up to it. Why was his goal disallowed? Rodon offside? Impeding the keeper I think. I wasn’t wholly convinced it had crossed the line either! Rodon offside was the explanation. And to be fair I think a born and bred Welsh speaker would struggle with some of the words Nic Parry uses 😊

My Welsh isn't up to it. Why was his goal disallowed? Rodon offside? Rodon offside and allegedly impeding the goalkeeper. I think that was an incorrect call - Rodon's position made no difference whatsoever to the keeper's attempt to save the header - but, thankfully, it didn't matter. (There's one angle that clearly shows he wasn't in the keeper's way.)

Brennan was flagged offside, which he was under the old rules, but he was well to the right hand side of the penalty area, not in the keepers line of sight of the ball nor interfering with play.

After the Turkey game I was hoping that we'd get some luck with a ref, as usual it looks like we're constantly having to make out own luck. I'm not looking forward to the Polish gamesmanship on Tuesday, we need a strong referee to deal with that.

Daniele Orsini of Italy appointed to ref on Tues night. Always considered him to be quite solid.
He's ref'd a Champions League Final, and games at the World Cup Finals.
Still, wouldn't bet against him booking Kieffer if he thinks his arms are flaying around in the air. We don't really need another yellow card for Kieffer (or anyone else for that matter).

Daniele ORSATO - sorry, ref!

P.S. Ben to be skipper again on Tuesday - presumably no starting return for Rambo?

Hahaha Cookie taking Church aside before the first Euros game to let him know Bale was starting ahead of him just to get a laugh out of him, that's brilliant

Makes me proud that he's Welsh. Excellent game personally, led by example and volunteered for first penalty.
That huddle at the end also.
Consummate professional.

Ben Davies awarded UEFA A Licence: faw.cymru/news/ben-davies-awarded-uefa-a-licence/I found the link via the Coys (Spurs themed) Reddit page. Interestingly there was also the following comment about a spurs podcast he recently was on: "He was just talking about working on this on the gab and jules podcast released this week, very casual about the whole thing wouldn’t have thought he was nearly done. Interestingly he said in that interview that he isn’t fully set on being a manager yet - he’s also apparently quite interested in the business side of the game too and might go into that post retirement but said he wants to get all his badges done while he’s still a player so if he does choose to manage he won’t have to take a break from the game to do his licenses for a couple years after playing. Seemed a very smart guy in general and very interestingly talked about knowing from a young age he wasn’t the best player even at academy level and saw better players not make it because he had a better mentality towards it. I was kinda surprised he wasn’t made a captain this summer, based purely on seniority and evident leadership and communication skills I would have thought he’d be considered."

Great to see him fulfill that promise of play as a LCB in a back 4 finally. Think him and Rodon can be a very effective pairing and I don't really see Mepham starting ahead of either. Neco is a good option at LB, Beck hopefully fulfills his promise this season, and Jay Dasilva is always there as well - thought he did a good job in the summer. RND is also on the comeback trail, so plenty of options
Mepham & Cabango is then plenty to cover for Rodon & Davies

LCB is specifically the left player in a back three. But yes, he did well there- I haven’t seem him play much as a CB, and it was good to see.

Would he be an option further forward with someone else Beck,N-D, Da Silva being the LB?

As a manager I would always specify which CB was LCB and RCB in a back 4, partially because I always wanted the better footballer on the left side as it's easier to pressurise them. So yeah I call it LCB and RCB whether it's a back four or a back 5

So yeah I call it LCB and RCB whether it's a back four or a back 5 Yeah, I get that even in a back four the CBs have a designated side. But I'm pretty sure 'RCB' and 'LCB' is specifically used to describe the outer two in a back three, as it's a different position/role to a CB in a back 4. What I mean is, 'LCB' is a different position to 'left sided CB', much in the same way 'DM', 'CM' and 'CAM' are specifically different positions. I may well be wrong, but that's what I've always thought!

Although, CM, DM & CAM describe very different things, LCB is just the LCB in either a 3 or 4 - not much distinction in my opinion so I personally just call it LCB

Deserves to, he's been a rock for us. www.sofascore.com/football/match/wales-turkiye/aUbscUb#tab:lineups107 passes against Turkey with 93% accuracy. (Rodon equally impressive). Given Spurs' current defensive inconsistencies, wouldn't rule out an Ange re-think on Ben either but if not, he'll still get plenty of European games for them.

He's such a legend, just one one those players who flies under the radar despite being consistently great. He's never normally a 9/10 or 10/10, but he's usually an 8/10 and at the very least 7/10
Will probably have the most or joint most number of tournaments, and possibly the most tournament appearances when he retires. Can go on for several more years if he moves to CB in a back 4 imo

Ben is one of the most underrated players I have ever seen, especially at club level, this year he celebrates 10 years at Tottenham , every manager at the club during that time has seen the value of him not only as a player, but also his undoubted professionalism and being a thoroughly decent man, which is why he's still there.

Wouldn't be surprised if Spurs extend his contract but if not could see maybe Brighton? Not afraid of the over thirties and Crofts having seen him at 4 or 5 Wales camps by then.

Wouldn't be surprised if Spurs extend his contract I read Spurs are not offering him a new deal but didn’t want to sell this summer as he’s a good cover player, well respected there and they have European matches again.

Ben is already looking to the future by taking his badges, very intelligent lad who could take any route in the game, whether it's club management or being involved in the business side.
