This news about Davies is honestly the best news we could possibly have for our World Cup chances. Our most important player in my opinion

Starting to become squeeky bum time now every time a player steps over the white line....I'll be surprised if we don't have a major casualty....hope I'm completely wrong...

I would say that a few of our senior players missing a couple of weeks action now is not the worse thing that could happen to us.
Anybody getting injured in October is a nightmare. As things stand, Harry Wilson is our most doubtful participant.

He’s not in the squad for Spurs today. A good thing that he’s not being rushed back.

Save some for Qatar Daddy Davies

75th cap tonight. Hopefully he will be on at least 78 by the end of this tournament. Then you'd expect him to rack up another 7 or so by the end of the Euro 24 qualifiers. If we qualify you'd expect him to be looking to join the 100 club late 2024-early 2025

If we qualify you'd expect him to be looking to join the 100 club late 2024-early 2025 He will certainly reach 100, but I wonder if he is going to another major tournament TBO. Had to rely on the individual brilliance of Bale (mostly), Ramsey (by the end of a qualifying cycle usually when he finally was healthy), and Hennessey (Ukraine) to qualify to the 3 major tournaments. Hope we can at least be on the same level with Hungary led by Szobozalai which is a marginal Euros team. Hope at least he gets to play one more tournament in Euro26

Starting as a LWB for Spurs against West Ham today, first time I've seen him play there in a long time!

MOTM today, he was excellent as a LWB and had an assist, probably the most underrated player there is , certainly not appreciated enough.

It has to be someone who is likely to be available for the vast majority of games and is going to be a permanent pick throughout the campaign.
That mean Ben Davies or if you wanted to look forward Ethan Ampadu.
Its highly likely to be Ben. If you pick Ramsey then that is just based on him being one of our two best players in the last decade as his track record suggest he may miss most of our games. Also Ben is more consistent and looks the more obvious captain - just look at how he leads on the field

Given that the feeling is that we should resort to a back four, is there any way he could play as one of 2 centre halves? Would be able to Marshall the defence from there and we'd improve our distribution from the back. Would also see RND as decent shout as left back.

Would love to see Davies given the captaincy.
having watched the highlights on MoTD2 there was very little mention of him apart from the assist, but the main credit was for the through ball to him. Highlights can always be misleading of course... but what did he do to get player of the match (genuine question).
if we stick with 5 at the back i still see him as the left-sided centre back rather than a wing-back.

Ramsey was made vice captain by Giggs, captain seems the natural next step. He seems to be keeping himself fit atm with a good run of games (touch wood) 🤞
He was captain previously at a young age, and I think he’ll thrive being the main man for one more campaign, using his experience over the years with Arsenal, Juventus and now in France + all the years with Wales, he’s the best man for the job imo.
Davies having a better history of being fit and available is a fair point. He’d be my vice, and captain then for the 2026 wc qualifiers, with Ampadu becoming vice captain.

LCB in a back 3 is more similar to LB than CB in a back 4. For me I'd be playing Mepham-Rodon as CBs and Davies at LB As he gets older and the legs start to go I can see him converting to an out and out CB, however, he's not at that point yet, and neither is our need RND will miss the next camp, so we need Davies at LB imo
