I love the fact that the biggest debate on here leading up to the Euros is which lower division player we take to be our reserve striker. This is what the internet was invented for! Personally, I loves it.

Wes Burns was man of the match for Fleetwood last night, scoring again. He now has 5 goals in 10 games playing for a side at the bottom of the league, compare that with Bradshaw 6 in last 17 ( including penalties) He also has a far better scoring record than Bradshaw playing for the U21s 6 goals in 16 games compared to Bradshaw who got 1 in 8 games Maybe this is a player who if his form continues could be an outsider for France as he can play wide or through the middle. He is getting more game time than George Williams and making a bigger impact in the same league Given George Williams cannot stay in a L1 starting line up nor score, fair argument for including Wes Burns instead who has scored in Championship and L1 this season.

If Ian Rush was born in the 90's we wouldn't even be in this mess. Its all his fault.

I've mentioned this on another thread a few years back but is there a big black hole in NE Wales, swallowing up any potential football stars??? What the hell is going on up there?

Interesting how kids of great players never seen to pull through in this country unless it's outright nepotism, whereas countries like Spain and Italy it's the norm for Juniors to be popping up.

Sam Vokes just named championship player of the month. Interesting how a player in such form for club can look so dire for country. He wasn't great but I think the criticism of him has been harsh. The service he got was dreadful. First 5 mins of Northern Ireland game, we put a few crosses in and with one he made a good move to the near post and nearly got on the end of it.. and after that we just stopped putting the ball in. Even with the pitch as wet as it was, and not being in a great condition, he held the ball up well a few times. Same against Ukraine when he came on, very little service - although him and Bradshaw did nearly link up a couple of times. I think he'd be much more effective if we had Bale and HRK either side and of course Ramsey supplying him as well as Allen. Seeing as he was injured during almost all of the qualifying games, you'd think that it would also take him a bit of time to adjust to playing with Wales. He does always play with Gray up front for Burnley, so maybe there's also a case for saying he's better with a partner up front, something he's unlikely to get playing for us. A lot of people totally writing him off on here but as his stats and this award shows, there's no doubting his talent.

It's unrealistic to expect a lone striker to get much joy against three centre backs - let alone three Premier League ones, as NI had at their disposal. Vokes probably has most to offer by winning the knock-downs for the likes of Bale and Ramsey to feed off - a bit like the header Bale won to give us the lead away to Israel.

They closed maternity hospitals along the Welsh borders (Mancot where Speed, Ratcliffe etc were born) consequently a lot of people who live Hawarden, Buckley Shotton etc areas are now born in Chester and therefore think of themselves as English despite being raised and schooled in Wales (Owen, Shawcross etc)

Lots of parents cannot afford the money or time to travel down to South Wales & if we miss out in the future on a world class player it will be the fault of a short sighted FAW policy

Coleman has already indicated this.

Yes mate you are correct, the problem now is that NE Wales is becoming so anglicised that we now have a large percentage of second / third generation English living in the local. It is only going to get worse as more and more of this part of the country becomes scouse overspill.

ALL maternity hospitals? That's a shame but yes surely the parents would have some influence if they were just born in England to go back over the border to Wales after the birth?

Not sure where to put this but wondered what everyone thinks of this? "Tom Bradshaw has today submitted a written transfer request outlining his desire to leave Walsall Football Club. The 23 year-old signed an improved two-year contract last summer and the club have attempted to renegotiate a further enhanced contract in order to keep Tom at the Banks’s Stadium beyond next season. However, Tom has made his desire to leave abundantly clear rejecting any offer of a new contract, which expires in June 2017, stating that he seeks Championship football in order to enhance his International career. Whilst the Club is disappointed with Tom’s stance given that it has played an instrumental part in his development, which has culminated in him achieving full Welsh honours during his time here, the Club have reluctantly accepted his request but have reiterated to Tom and his representatives that no player will leave Walsall FC unless the Club’s valuation is met. The Club will be making no further comment." www.saddlers.co.uk/news/article/2016-17/club-statement-tom-bradshaw-3183357.aspxHopefully a championship team will pick him up and give him a chance.

I'm with Bradshaw on this one. Careers in football are short so he has to look out for number 1, especially as Walsall didn't get promoted.
Just because Walsall helped with his development doesn't mean he should be stuck with them for life. If that was the case, then Ronaldo would still be playing at Sporting Lisbon.

Not a glamorous move but it's another step up in standard for him. Making slow but steady progress.

His commitment to Wales was questioned following his withdrawal from the U21 squad for a double header back in 2013, preferring to concentrate on his Shrewsbury career which seemingly drew the ire of Geraint Williams. Some also felt this may have been one of the reasons Coleman/Roberts delayed calling Bradshaw up last season.
Its good to see therefore the tables now being turned and Bradshaw unequivocally putting Wales and his international ambitions first, shows there's a hunger there from him to do well for us.

Not a glamorous move but it's another step up in standard for him. Making slow but steady progress. The thing is, given the type of player Bradshaw is, he's not going to have endless choices of where he can play. Traditionally players like Bradshaw - a smaller pacey no.9 - need to play for a team that plays two strikers and with a traget man for a strike partner. Not many teams in the top two tiers have been playing this way over the past few years. Maybe the trend to do so will return?
