Side note from Group G. The Netherlands drew in Montenegro and Norway drew at home to Latvia. So both lost ground to Turkey who play Montenegro last - where a win puts them on 21 pts
Netherlands play Norway in the final game, with Netherlands on 20 pts and Norway on 18 pts. A draw would mean Netherlands in the play off. Norway looking likely to miss out unless they can beat the Dutch, in which case Turkey winning too would knock the Dutch out and put Turkey in the playoffs

So I think I want Scotland to draw 0-0 or 1 - 1 with Denmark. We 'll need 15 points to get into the seeded section in any event and if we don't make it then its probably better they do and we have a small chance of drawing them. No score draw and we take it on goals scored and if we have draw with 1 less goal then their game then we take it on the away goal rule. Any higher than that and they take it on goals scored. All assumes we get a draw against Belgium though.
This must be the best end of a qualifying tournament in living memory. Just today we've got Croatia v Russia - winner takes all. Portugal v Serbia - winner takes all. Spain v Sweden - winner takes all. Lets hope we're not pondering Portugal and Spain in the play offs at the end of tonight.
I didn't realise how close Italy are to the play offs. Level on points with Switzerland but with a 2 goal advantage. They're away to NI while the Swiss are home to Bulgaria. Could easily see that swing.
And Holland, probably ok but they need a draw at home to Norway. Should get it but if they were to lose they could be out altogether.

I think there are a lot of assumptions that Scotland won't beat Denmark. Depends how seriously the Danes take it, qualified, do they try out fringe players etc.

In case nobody has recently added this info - dates for your diary...
Teams that have advanced to the play-offs will be drawn into three paths of four teams on Friday 26 November.
The twelve teams will be split into three play-off paths, each containing four teams. Each play-off path will feature two single-leg semi-finals on 24–25 March, and one single-leg final on 28–29 March 2022. The winner of the final in each play-off path will then qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Thanks for that welshowl.
I didn't realise that we'd know our potential final opponents before the semi finals.

Croatia playing Russia in some pretty terrible conditions, who do we want to win that one?

A Russia win would have helped us get a home playoff I think though, a draw against Belgium would have seen us overtake Croatia

I would put my mortgage on us playing Russia at some stage in these play-offs, probably away & probably with the shortest notice to be able to sort out visas.

Romania winning in Liechtenstein, North Macedonia 2-1 up at home to Iceland. Romania/North Macedonia would definitely be unseeded

I would put my mortgage on us playing Russia at some stage in these play-offs, probably away & probably with the shortest notice to be able to sort out visas. When the play-off draw is made we will know who we will play in the semi-final and should we progress which two of the other semi-finalist we will play and whether that game will be home or away. So by the end of this month we will know whether there is at least a chance of playing Russia. I'm sure that there will be some submitting their visa application at that point (mortgage permitting).

Where will the finals be? If its neutral venues could they choose Russia and Baku like they usually do?

Serbia have some quality players. I really don't get how they've struggles so much in recent years, they've massively underperformed, but look like they're starting to get their act together. I wouldn't fancy them

Could do with Spain sticking a few past Sweden, still 0-0 at the minute
I really wouldn't fancy our chances away in Serbia, much less Portugal who could still end up in the playoffs!
