Collins also missed a year with a cruciate injury which should be borne in mind when considering his caps total

Well done Collins someone acting like an adult and putting the country first.
Collins has missed a few games but people forget he has represented his country at u16,17, 18, 19, 20 & 21s and I believe he is the only Welsh player to do so.
Those appearances would take him to 59 in total and if he had been picked ahead of inferior players like Ricketts and Blake(where is he now!) his cap count would be higher
We need him badly to have any chance of beating Macedonia and avoiding a hammering in Belgium.
I think this puts to bed the fact he doesn't care about his country.
Maybe Giggs will call tomorrow lol

His caps are a handful fewer than Gabbidon, who has had much worse injuries but is three or four years older.
Don't know the ins and outs though or what his frame of mind has been.

Gunter has 48 caps. Has he missed a game?!

Good news.not that it matters, but if Collins initiated the call, does that mean he was in the wrong and did indeed refuse to join the squad? Either that or he will score an own goal to ensure cookie gets the boot! Ha ha!

My theory is he will come back into the squad and Coleman will put him on the bench and play OTJ lol

Collins deserves credit for this regardless whether his version is true or not, it shows a commitment to wales. A lot of the stuff of here is tabloid bollox and we don't actually know his version of events. Lets get behind him as much as we would any other. Hey, I can even see a draw on Friday now............lol

Agreed. Lets hope he uses his brain a bit more than in our opening game.

If he scores an own goal or gets sent off, I'm going to start a Collins Out campaign to test whether the success of my Collins In campaign had a direct effect on him coming back or not.

Whatever you think of him, he has stood up for Wales this week! After being overlooked for defensively suspect players playing out of position and falling out with the manager, I would never in a million years have expected him to contact Coleman this week, especially when he was effectively helping out Coleman from a hole.
He was the only one of the back four you felt confident in defending their ground. The others were committed but somewhat passive at times. It is so ironic that he may well have saved Coleman's job! Think after the events of this week, no one can accuse him of not caring for Wales!
All the players showed commitment. I feel sorry for Myhill. He has been playing well lately and I hope he continues to show up for us given how quickly he has been shunted aside for Hennessy (I think that must be his first clean sheet since he has come back from injury!).
Unless we have a clearly superior candidate then Coleman probably deserves one more shot, as we were missing at least 6 to 7 first team players tonight. Would love to see someone like Ryan Giggs involved with the U21s (instead of Williams)/senior coaching team. Think he would be inspirational for the U21s!

I really don't think Coleman deserves another campaign. We just aren't defensively organised, and that is probably mostly the manager's fault. You can bring together decent individuals but you need good coaching - this is no less true at international level than at club level. If you offered me Pulis (out of work now) or Coleman, I'd take Pulis. That's assuming we can't afford Trapattoni.

Lets be fair though, he owed us and Coleman that after that sending off vs Belgium which put us on our arse before the campaign even got a chance to get going.
That being said, he could have taken the path of least resistance and stayed at home tonight, but no- he fronted up when the chips were down so I take my hat off to him for that and he also produced the goods on the pitch as well. One particular moment late on where I thought he would track the runner instead of challenging the player with the ball. He stood his ground and won the ball. I hope he is on form on Tuesday as he will be a very important player for us,
I also hope that he puts aside the negatives of this campaign and from now on we see some desire and commitment from him allied with a bit of thought when out on the pitch. He obviously did what he had to to be involved tonight so I hope that by being involved and part of a winning team that he wants to continue to be involved no matter who the manager is.

Well lets be clear - he should be first choice with Williams. Williams is the elegant player with pace and Collins is the physical player who is very tall and a giant in the air. That is a well balanced pairing. He makes bad challenges sometimes, but that's because he is a very physical player. Wales definitely lack physicality and need him. No more short full backs playing centre back (like Blake!) please!
Just wish we had more of a physical presence in midfield.

Yes, thats not a popular viewpoint on here but I agree, I wish we had more bite in midfield. I think teams have it to too easy against us sometimes in that respect.

I have to credit Collins for seeking out Coleman and sorting out their issues maturely. I have been critical of him in the past but he was an important factor in our win tonight, so chwarae teg James.

Just wish we had more of a physical presence in midfield. I thought Vaughan was very physical tonight. Ledley has done it in the last few games

Collins return is massive for us. His actions before and during the game are the biggest plus for us as far as the next campaign is concerned, second to a good shot at forth place now.

Collins has redeemed himself somewhat but its hard to have a higher estimation of him after this sorry saga: - cant be arsed to show up for games, refuses call up, then blatantly lies about it. Still he made some important contributions tonight, but I think he owed that to everyone

Here's a thought, do you think Collins was tempted back by Bellamy for his last few matches? I know they are both good mates from their west ham days and always spoke highly of each other. A call from Bellamy first perhaps?

So as it seems that Collins was the one doing the wrangling anyone going to actually cut Coleman some slack? There were calls on here for enquiries and all sorts into Colemans behaviour....all gone a bit quiet now hasn't it?

Damn right there should have been an enquiry when a senior pro issues a statement accusing the manager of being a liar. The people above all that have been made to look like idiots are those who had been conducting an irrational anti Collins hate campaign. Oh, that includes you doesn't it? Had you had your way, Collins wouldn't have played, and we would have lost that match.

But that can't be because Collins loves playing for Wales-he told us so himself!!!!11 So why isn't there more stick from you for him calling Coleman a liar? Let's be fair you lot were baying for blood before, surely that should be inverted and appropriate stick dished out to Collins? But no, it's all gone quiet on that front, Collins is back in, Coleman is on his way out and everything is tickety-boo. As I said at the time, it was just an excuse to try and force Coleman out.

Errrr..... This just confirms that Collins made the first move to come back, the opposite of what you've come on here spouting about?
