Back 4 with protection from Allen and Ledley
I don't think Belgium have much width

Massive loss. We could really do with his size and strength when dealing with Fellaini on set pieces.
Must be a back four now. Playing a back five with someone like Dummett, Ricketts etc to partner Williams and Chester will just be a major weakness.

Given that it's impossible to know in advance whether Collins' performance will be the sublime or the ridiculous I have mixed feelings about this. However, we will certainly be a lot more vulnerable in the air without his presence, up against the likes of Benteke and Fellaini. It puts the onus on us to starve the Belgians of possession - no mean feat. But if we have 5 in midfield to Belgium's three this is by no means impossible.

What makes the Collins loss all the worse is that we have already lost Ben Davies. Collins did not play out in Belgium and neither did Ben Davies but I do feel that one of them would be deployed at the home fixture for the reasons given above.
Lets hope that Ash & Chester are both fit.

For me, its only a loss if we have anymore CB injuries. Even with the injuries I think we'd have gone with a back 4 and Chester starts ahead of Collins in my opinion.

James Collins injury and with-drawl is a blow firstly because he is in form and no-one knows what will happen between now and the game but as importantly during the game. Lets keep every thing crossed. We are blessed with Chester and Williams but James Collins would equally have had a positive contribution to give in training. As they say we are where we are and the squad so far has been able to absorb the loses to date. When I saw the Belgium squad announced you begin to realise what strength in depth really is, though I still think we will shade it in June.

With injury issues like this shows shortsightedness of not having friendly ahead of Belgium match.People in squad who could be important now like Dummett & Fon-Williams are desperately lacking in international experience/gametime.Heard all arguments about WC seeding but NOT INTERESTED-its Euros and present that is important.A friendly appearance could also give Tom Lawrence a confidence boost and again help towards Belgium.

Northern Ireland are playing the ROI behind closed doors, so no doubt this means it is 'unofficial' and thus doesn't count towards the rankings? Why didn't we do this if this is the case? I agree that not having a friendly might cost us in this game, the result ultimately will decide that.

We have not qualified since '58 for anything-surely getting a warm up game/chance to try new players or Plan B comes ahead of ranking points for World Cup draw ! Ireland have 2 June qualifiers and still have a friendly. We have not have had a friendly for 12 months ! This leads to players for e.g.Adam Mathews not playing for us for over 12 months and others just not getting any international experience whatsoever.

James Collins out. Great news in my opinion Silly comment. Why does losing an experienced premiership regular please you so much? He may not have started the game but we need all the depth we can get, if anything happens to Chester or Ashley now we are in the shit. You are supporting Wales aren't you?

Must admit i was sceptical before the Israel game but his performances this year for West Ham have been sublime. Many calling him their POTY. Big blow for us but we have Chester and Ash and i'm confident we can get something out if this game. Hazard and De Bruyne are the ones to keep tabs on.

Some of the criticism here is very harsh especially as he pulled up in a game whilst playing for West Ham.
We need as many top players as possible. With Ben Davies out as well are now struggling at centre back which more or less forces our hand to play 4 at the back

Yes a very silly comment by me because we could get more injuries. But out in Israel whenever he got the ball we all panicked and winced. Forget the balls up for his tap-in, that guy is a known liability. I emigrated 10 years ago to a land, far far away from Wales so the last game home game i saw was when we played England and Collins still gives me nightmares about the way he gave that penalty away. I still don´t trust him. West Ham is one thing, International football is another. THE PREMIER LEAGUE IS SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

West Ham is one thing, International football is another. THE PREMIER LEAGUE IS SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Are you suggesting that Wales' side is of a higher standard than the Premiership? Or are you even suggesting that 'international football' is of a higher standard than the Premiership?! That's absolute crazy talk. 'International quality' is a myth. International football is merely football between nations. Most of those nations are quite shit. In fact, of the 209 FIFA nations, the mid-way line is straddled by Macedonia and Jordan, so if such a thing exists, that's your average 'international standard'. Or, by another definiton, be good enough for Anguilla and you're 'international standard'. James Collins would walk into 80% of the world's international squads, and you're not making sense.

Wales would thrash West Ham and so would Bosnia and Belgium. Even if that were true (which I highly doubt), it does nothing to clarify your previous comments. We're talking the cream of international football here, a sport in which Wales are currently in the top 10% (Well, 10.1%...!) in the world. That is not representative of an 'international quality' any more than the Champions League is a measure of 'professional quality'. The Premier League is so far above any notion of international standard that I can't see what on earth the point is you're trying to make. These days we are mostly a team of Premiership players, so of course it's conceivable we could could beat Premier League opposition, but "West Ham is one thing, International football is another" is easily the most baffling statement I've read on this forum.

FFS are you telling me that the Premier is the same standard as the Champions league? ? Look the premier league as lost its way over the last 4 or 5 years. Was Hazard the best player? wow i thought he had an ok season with Chelsea. The Premier could comeback but at the moment its lost. Homegrown scene is not happening. The glitter has well and truly gone

And i never compared international football against club football in Spain, Germany or Italy or the Champions League. Anyone who supports a premier league apart from Swansea is a tosser and should be shot!!!!!

On top of that, the Premier League have teams that compete with the Champions League's elite. And this STILL doesn't tie in with the nonsensical comments before.

That why 'international standard' is a myth and why "West Ham is one thing, International football is another" is such a stupid nonsense. James Collins, without a shadow of a doubt, is good enough to play international football. He is also good enough to play for us.
