Find this pretty staggering. King, Gallas, Dawson, Bassong...Collins?

Yeah, forgot about him - really don't see why this move would happen.

Definitely better off at Villa. Wouldn't get much football at Spurs.

Collins has been linked to Newcastle, Sunderland and QPR also.

The three above would all be better than Spurs - he'd have more chance of a game, and all three have(or will have) defensively minded managers.

O'Neill signed him before (for Villa) and Pardew might have worked with him at West Ham (though Curbishley signed him). And Hughes obviously capped him several times. So leescratchpele's list seems credible.....
....or it's just join-the-dots, tabloid tittle tattle

Newcastle and Sunderland have managers Collins has played well under before. QPR are soon to be managed by someone else he knows well, and he'd be reunited with his mate Danny Gabbidon. All three would make much more sense than Spurs. I find it hard to imagine Collins in a Spurs shirt. Its not a move that makes much sense to me.

its a move that would surprise me but i think a move to spurs MIGHT give him a new lease of life,he moves to sunderland, qpr, newcastle then i fear were just going to get the same old james collins
that said he could quite as easily rot in the spurs reserves for ages
he seems to be stuck in a rut at the moment

Newcastle are bigger club than any he's played for before, and they've got some quality players now. He played well under Pardew at WHU, they need reinforcements in defence. If I was Collins I'd be pushing for a move up there.

why are newcastle a big club?isnt this a bit of a myth?
they arent regular champions league qualifiers, they dont have a history of winning trophies, infact west ham who collins has played for have far more in the trophy cabinet than they do
is it because the have a decent sized stadium?is it because they have fans who like to take their shoes and tops off??they dont have a nationwide or worldwide following so it cant be that either

Average crowds of around 50,000- 15,000 or so more than Villa. Been in the champions league - unlike Villa or West Ham.

I think the difference between them is that Newcastle have greater potential to be an elite club. 50+ thousand for a mediocre epl side? That's pretty incredible. I'm sure they could add 10,000 to that were there to become Champions Leagues regulars...it's just getting there that's the problem. No one really knows precisely what Ashley's true Idea is yet.

obviously they have the greater potential but the reality is they will never be champs league regulars, they spent years in the wilderness until keegan took over, had a few years in the sun and then went back into the hole from which they came and they wont add 10k to their regular crowd as the stadium only holds 52k

Ha, true enough. But Im pretty sure there would be an option to add seats. If they have a Manchester City-esque takeover, they have every chance of getting in the top four, but under this regime, that seems unlikely (although, like I said, no one really knows what Ashely wants.)

idiot- I never said Newcastle are an elite club, or a champions league club or anything like that. I just said they are a bigger club than Villa, WHU or Cardiff. And yeah, thats mainly down to their massive crowds. Or do you really think that because Villa and WHU won a few trophies over 30 years ago they are bigger? And how far back do we have to go? Because Preston North end won shitloads at the end of the 19th century. Are they a bigger club than Newcastle?

Blackburn or Wigan, for example, could never get 65,000 fans, irrespective of how successful they were.

Where was he last night not even on the bench.
Despite his obvious mistakes I still think he's the best option we have.
We also need Neil Taylor or at least a left footer playing left back

The best option we have!!!
Sorry don't think so, he has cost us qualification for Euro 2012 IMO and we have improved vastly since his omission - with hopefully Ben Turner on board soon i hope we have seen the last of Collins.

Whoever put out that team last night, what were they thinking? We need Taylor playing alongside williams, we need collins on the bench.
Why taylor never even came on i don't know, i'm sure he was warming up? and for mathews to play out of position in his place. Very strange! especially when Gunter and Ricketts can cover left back if taylor was carrying a knock.
Also price over jason brown?

I can only imagine Taylor wasn't 100% - the decision not to play him would be bizarre otherwise.

For all the people complaining about Matthews playing at left back, it should be pointed out that he played there- and played very well there- in our last game vs Norway.
I'm a huge Neil Taylor fan though - disappointed he didn't play last night ...for whatever reason.

he didn't do a good job last night though and was expecting him to be replaced at half time.
