Out of contract this June. Could be a great freebie for Swansea or Cardiff ... or dare I say, Bournmouth?

Assist in tonight’s game. Clearly useful in the final third of the pitch.

Morgan Fox has signed for Stoke.
Fox, Allen, Davies and Vokes, we'll (gulp) have to start supporting Stoke. Especially if they sign Chester as well.

I believe he's been playing regularly for Stoke, primarily as a LCB in a back 3?
With doubts over RND's fitness surely Fox deserves a chance now.
Probably our best player not to be capped yet?

Don’t let the Doidge fans see that comment! Good point! I might disagree with myself and agree that Doidge is the best without a cap 🤣 Feels like Fox has been around for ages though, guess he's been a bit unlucky as he'd have been a regular in our squad 10 years ago!

Agree that he should be called up if RND is out. We can see what he has to offer against the yanks

Call up with Cabango out?

If we're going for the wing back formation I think he has to be called up. As it stands, either B Davies or N-Davies will have to play three games in a row because they are the only dedicated left sided defenders.

Only thing I can think of is they perhaps see some potential in someone like Dan James to play left wing-back. Or they feel they can use Connor Roberts their, who has played on the left for the Swans. If not, then yes, he should come in for Cabango.

Yeah I mentioned that in the USA game thread, but I cannot really see them trying D James in that role - I don't think he has the discipline or the temperament for a defensive role either.

I think he does, he's a defensive winger and I don't think he'd be much different to someone like Neco in that regard, only that he's less used to the role. Left-back would be a stretch, but left wing-back is as much of an attacking position then a defensive one. We'll see anyway. Morgan himself probably isn't all that suited to a left wing-back role either, and has been playing as the left sided centre-back in a back five for Stoke.

There's been a clear pattern over the last decade of wingers that are not quite effective enough attacking-wise, transitioning to wb/fb. I would never have though Antonio Valencia or Ashley young would make decent full backs, but they did. Lots of young FBs also started off as wingers, including Bellerin and our very own Neco. It's definitely worth testing it

My only issue with Dan James at LWB is that he's right footed, making him less effective on the overlap. We tend to play with inverted wide forwards, so if James is playing LWB he's going to be wanting to cut in and getting in the way of whoever is playing on the left up front.
I think he'd be a great RWB, but unfortunately for him we're already sorted in that position.

We should be considering Brooks or Wilson or dare I say it a return for Bale to his original position?

We should be considering Brooks or Wilson or dare I say it a return for Bale to his original position? No to all three for me. Bale hasn't got the pace anymore. Wilson, again isn't really a pacey player and too weak physically. And Brooks......well, I think he'll be way out of position there.

The conversion from winger to wingback is far more likely to be successful with athletic wingers, as opposed to technical ones. Wilson and brooks definitely don't fit the bill

Why would anyone even consider converting two goal scoring 10s to wing backs? Fair play that’s given me a laugh.
The Dan James thing is a stretch but could work with the right coaching but I’d rather try Fox in the friendly to see what he can do. We may need him if there are injuries in March and before the Euros.

In the Euros Neil Taylor ended up with more goalscoring opportunities than most of the squad playing LWB so it depends how you play the position - like Brehme or Lahm in the past. Just getting the conversation going - as I said 'consider'. Dan James being right footed is also not ideal but worth 'considering'. It's also difficult to get 3 '10s' on the field at the same time (as well as Ramsey and Johnny etc.) with 3 at the back so it can be an attacking option to 'consider' when we are chasing games etc.
Ben Davies is probably our best left footed crosser so makes sense as a LWB although as said previously I think they may well use him as an Full back who can move in to release the right back when needed as Spurs have often done with Aurier.

Valencia, Young, Traore, Moses, Albrighton are all examples of wingers who have done the transition effectively

Valencia, Young, Traore, Moses, Albrighton are all examples of wingers who have done the transition effectively Regardless, why take two of our most creative players (who will be our star players in 2/3 years when Ramsey and Bale officially retire) and put them LWB when we don’t need them there. If you think David Brooks or Harry Wilson should be LWB then I’m sorry but you really don’t know a lot about football.

On Morgan Fox, with the team already meeting up last night, it looks unlikely that he's going to be called up.
Could COVID protocols allow us to call someone like Fox up more easily, than in the last round of fixtures where we had three away games and lots of travel protocols to follow?

What's he up to these days? Always impressed me whenever I've seen him play live! But I don't think he's ever been capped?!
Suppose there's a lot of luck in football too, right place right time...
Doubt there's much of a gulf in quality between him and RND.
His best position would be LCB I think, like Ben Davies good defender and ok at attacking. Pretty tall (6'1) so handy at CB too.
