What's he up to these days? Always impressed me whenever I've seen him play live! But I don't think he's ever been capped?! Suppose there's a lot of luck in football too, right place right time... Doubt there's much of a gulf in quality between him and RND. His best position would be LCB I think, like Ben Davies good defender and ok at attacking. Pretty tall (6'1) so handy at CB too. Played last game of the season but didn't get much of look in, played quite a bit for the U23's. We've got a few left sided centre halves - Ben Davies starting with RND as the understudy. Then James Lawrence seems to get the nod ahead of anyone else if those two were ever injured. But I'd say the likes of Andrew Hughes probably on par with him if not slightly better in all honesty. Not watched much of Fox.

Zac Williams looks a good prospect for the LCB role long term.

I'll never forget him and Vaulks starting away in Croatia in the scorching heat, they were dreadful! I'd like to know what drugs Giggs was taking when he landed on that line up

One to watch Yeah, it doesn’t exactly strike a lot of confidence seeing as though he has just been relegated to League 2. But, he’s not long turned 18 and has 20+ appearances under his belt and has apparently done well. Seems destined to play at a higher level. Apparently Brighton have been sniffing around him, so he must have something about him!

Can't see him ever getting a cap. Stoke are dreadful, and he's been in and out of the team. He's shown no sign of progressing beyond a mediocre championship defender

Motm tonight according to FotMob, stoke fans happy with his performance on twitter!
Has had a career at Championship level, plays LCB or LB… he’s the obvious replacement for RND.
Although Lockyer would be unlucky not to get in now, but not sure he’s great cover as LB/LWB.

Yeah James Lawrence was a strange one. Fox certainly doesn't look like the answer though

Who is? We're desperately short of LCBs and don't have a single serviceable left back at all. Even Neco at LWB is very flawed.

Cabango plays as a LCB every week (twice a week actually) and Ampadu played a lot there for Sheffield United and Venezia. Neco, Roberts, sand Gunter are the options at LB/LWB. Not ideal at all that they're all right footers, but that's what I imagine Page will do. I suspect Andrew Hughes might be closer than the other two

Not convinced about Ampadu on the left though. Having Neco and James on our left stymied our attack against Poland. We really need a left footer there for balance. I'd wouldn't like to see Roberts play LWB and if we see Gunter there something really bad has happened.

Ah yes Cabango is decent back up as LCB. As for left wing back I guess Burns / Dan James can fill in there. Of course, Fox won’t make the squad, but worth a look for the next campaign, same for Hughes too.

Has recorded an assist for Stoke’s opening goal against Nathan Jones Luton

Both goals came from his crosses. The first, headed in. The second, headed in but by an unfortunate Lockyer. Doubt yesterday's games mattered too much but it's a bit of a shame. Would be nice to have a proper LB in the squad.

Give him a call up

I think we have no choice now, I've rather stupidly overlooked him in the past as an option just because I thought we had enough but we clearly haven't and a lot of youngsters haven't done enough yet like I thought one or two of them might have by now. This isn't the same as the Toshack era anymore, he had nothing to lose, we have to pick the better player, not the one who might, might being a massively key word, go on to be better.

To be fair I think Ed Turns may already be close to being a Championship level defender, I wouldn't be against bringing him in, but also not against the use of Fox or Hughes

Wasn't he in the Euros 2016 sticker book?
A reward for having a decent Championship season and real opportunity for him. Pob lwc, Morgan.

I hope he impresses, having another Championship level CB and one who is left footed, would be a great thing for the squad imo
If him and Bradshaw do well it might also open Page out to the idea of including other older Championship players like Hughes and Hedges

Released by Stoke

Don't think I would have said it in any previous season, but a 30 year old Morgan Fox who has just played 40 league games (35 starts) and without transfer fee makes some sense for Cardiff City.
Final year before the new EFL deal comes through. I wonder if that will have any impact on how many players are released - clubs not being able to afford new deals before extra money comes in - because I can't see Fox looking for a big contract really.

Yet another example of a name often being brought up to disparage selection decisions and fuel complaints of a 'closed shop' - he can't be rated that highly if they're prepared to release him. Strange though, given he started so many games last season.

So that's 40 games played last season? if i played that many i'd be thinking i'm very much part of the team,to get released seems weird. I guess he didn't contribute much and they had no other options in his position, bizarre though.

The last two posts have inferred that Fox wasn't rated, or shouldn't be rated, because he's being released. I think it's more likely to be combination of i) Fox didn't do much until last season so no history of good performances, ii) Championship clubs are all really poor and looking to cost cut before new EFL deal comes through.
Looking at his season last year from statistics viewpoint only, he definitely deserves another Championship club.

It's probably just that he's approaching 30 and they want to plan for the future. He probably wouldn't command a fee so it's unlikely that it would be a good financial move to re-sign him when they can bring in a 23 year old defender to do a long term job
When both Davies & RND are out we need players like Fox/Hughes to be able to come in imo. I think he'd be good for someone like Cardiff as previously mentioned

At least he’s staying in the same division.
