For me we have 2 choices 1. Coleman to stay, with a new assistant 2. An experienced international manager All we need is to be tight and organised at the back and let Ramsey & Bale win the games. Simples. Trappatoni or Sven anyone Thats exactly why I would favour Pulis - if we can tighten up at the back and be tough to beat then Bale and Ramsey should be able to nick us the goals that march us on. I can see us being a Greece far more than I can us being a Spain. Either way works for me, so long as we qualify

If you're going to play football, why not do it properly based on a robust system? A system of keeping it tight at the back is great but then what? hoof it up to Bale and Ramsey? There are 11 players in a football team. What if Bale & Ramsey are unavailable through injuries (in Bale's case) and suspensions in Rambo's?

The emperor's new clothes this is - Keane was a laughing stock as a manager a few months back and now all of a sudden hes a credible appointment? . Perhaps you didn't notice, but Keane is assistant manager to MON. "MON seems to have got progressively worse as a manager" MON finished 6th with Villa in both his last two seasons. A huge success. Sunderland went badly, but one rainy day doesnt make a winter. "having Keane as his assistant is pretty bizarre given the kind of character that he is" It's exactly because he is the kind of character he is that makes the appointment so exciting. "given Keane's history with the FAI, walking out of world cups I am surprised he has been welcomed back." He was already welcomed back as a player after Mick McCarthy left. And while even Keane probably regrets walking out of the squad, everyone agrees the reasons why he was pissed off were right. "The equivalent for us would be Hughes or Pulis with Giggs as assistant - a journeyman manager with an understudy who has treated his country like shit." But this is an insult to both MON and Keane. Neither Hughes/Pulis can hold a candle to the experience of MON, and sadly Giggs may have treated his country like shit, but Keane's crime was a result of caring too much. "I would not be too overwhelmed by MON and Keane for Wales, we should be aiming higher. " If you really believe this, you are living in a fantasy world.
True, but both O'Neil and Keane are coming off failures. Can they work together? Has O'Neil still got it? Neither are trainers/coaches, who will do the coaching? A lot of questions to be answered on this one.
Lots of questions indeed - that's why it's so exciting.
The thing about this appointment is that it dares to dream - it has ambition written all over it. Pairing two huge characters with contrasting styles, bags of experience, huge passion. While it could implode, it's could also be a stratospheric project.

The trajectory we are on is the right one. The above is why I see the merits of Paulo Sausa replacing Coleman if he were to go. As per his time at Swansea, he made them much harder to beat without decreasing possession football (not quite as Total Football as Martinez but players still needed to be comfortable with the ball). Unfortunately, inter-club rivalry could get in the way of such an appointment.

Gotta be honest, the suspense of waiting for what's happening next with our management is doing my head in.

Press conference to announce Wales squad for Friendly v Finland, has been cancelled That's it, he must be gone, expect an announcement anytime now in that case. I'd expect the FAW to play out the Finland match under a caretaker then spend the next couple of months mulling over a replacement in time for the Feb friendly.

I don't know why people are so down on Pulis. Is it because of the style of football he played at Stoke? Every good manager uses the best strategy with the tools at their disposal. I'm sure we'd see attacking football from Pulis where appropriate, but against the top teams he would rightly focus on making us hard to beat first. And I remind people that under Coleman we had a poor defensive record, conceding over 2 goals per game. That was why we didn't contest 3rd place, if we had picked up draws against Serbia and Macedonia away rather than two hammerings and poor defeat we'd have been up there in the mix behind the top 2.
I would be delighted if Pulis got the job, he is the best Welsh candidate by far and one of the best realistic candidates.

You don't cancel a press conference by the manager before an international because you don't want to answer any questions. Smells like bullshit to me. And are we really saying that Coleman has been given the brush off by Palace but because he is a man in such high demand we need to secure his services asap? Then again this is the FAW we are talking about - a group of shifty unaccountable lying, self-serving, odious sell-outs.

The likes of Texan could do my line of argument justice better than I but we are on a trajectory that must not be disturbed in a major way. Yes, we need to be tighter at the back but this can be done without an unsustainable return to up and at em football. Sousa would be considerably better for international football than Pulis. If the FAW were to insist on a Welshman, I would consider that a mistake. Best person irrespective of nationality. If not Sousa, Gullit and Di Matteo are very appealing. Previous suggestions of Hoddle and Clough are no longer options.
