I wonder if we will see Coleman sign up any of his favourite Welsh boys, either this month or in the summer.
I'm talking the likes of Simon Church, David Vaughan, Andy Crofts, Fon Williams, Shaun MacDonald, George Williams, even Hennessey.

If I was Coleman I probably would to be honest. With Sunderland struggling he needs people he can rely on, when they bring in players they need to think can Coleman get the best out of them? Will they adapt to his ideas? I think Gunter might at some point but not this year. What's Cotterill up to these days? King and Lockyer maybe.

Think Cotterill is a free agent so could happen (not sure how much of a favourite he was though?)

Out of the players mentioned above, I cant see the Sunderland fans being happy with any of them other than King and Hennessey.

They should trust him, i think some of the other players are not glamorous. But with a short space of time to turn things around, going for safety in players he has already worked with makes sense. Cotterill would be a good signing until summer, extra bodies, good delivery, will work hard for Coleman.

Instead of working hard and keeping his fitness up for a potential new club this month, he's going on feckin holidays with his missus. It's January ffs, middle of a season. I don't know, if the portrayal he puts of himself on social media is anything to go by, looks like he can't be bothered. Same with George Williams to be honest.

Big shame, especially George Williams, he has a lot of talent, with the right attitude could of been a player.

Both of their girlfriends are pregnant, fair enough really if they wants to spend more time with their missus over the next few months, I'm sure they're looking after themselves.

Yeah agree with that but Cotterill has been acting similarly for about 18 months. Maybe its me. Don't think he will get any other caps mind.

He hasn’t scored a club goal for over 2 years, over 3 at Championship level. I can’t see him being the man to get them the goals to get out of trouble.

He never scored for Wales either and was thrown on to be the answer 2 goals down against Portugal. But being serious Colemam has a picture of how he wants Sunderland to play. If he's setting them up and it's not working, maybe the strikers are not working hard enough, not making the movements he wants to. He knows Church can play that way, he's coached him that way in the past, would it be a bad idea to bring him in? I'm just using Church as an example but there's only so long you can coach people to try to play the role Andy King played for Wales until you think why don't I just bring in Andy King?

Can't see the Sunderland board or fan base being impressed by Church.

One of those moments where everyone remembers what they were doing when Simon Church scored for Wales.

Didn't Church also score that critical goal against Macedonia that probably saved Coleman's job? Might explain the bromance...

Am I right in thinking he backed Giggs for the job today?

Sorry but you have to question his decision making on and off the field - i think he jumped into the first club job he could get which was always going to be a poisoned chalice!! - you would think Premiership clubs would have been chomping at the bit to appoint him (seven managers gone already this season) but they have realised that deep down he wasn't the manager everybody thought he was - no offence and avoiding the "Crap Cookie" posts on here but was he really the genius of our Euro 2016 campaign? - his missing passport (Macedonia) "don't care about Wales" comment whilst with Coventry still fresh in the memory - everyone "rightly so" applauded his decision to take over from Speed in tragic circumstances but did he have the tactical nous? - i posted a few months ago how the qualifiying campaign for Euro 2016 was piss easy and he would struggle in WC Qualifiers and it happened!!!

Qualifying may well have been easy. Making the semi finals was not.

Qualifying may have looked easy because UEFA added teams and gave the third place team a chance in the play-offs but we finished lower than third in just about every group for the previous 10 qualifying campaigns over the previous 20 years.
Other than the 2004 campaign when we lost the playoff to Russia,we wouldn't have even made the playoffs if they had the same criteria, many times we finished bottom or second to bottom.
Also,as the last poster said, getting to the semis definable wasn't easy.

On the back of that showing against Cardiff, I hope none of our youngsters go on loan there. What a mess.

In the past we have had much weaker teams to be honest, I don't know why people are comparing the current generation to Toshack's teams or the early Speed era. Coleman did finish 5th in his first campaign but we came out of 6th seeds and were in a group with Belgium, Croatia, Serbia, Scotland and Macedonia. Now that was a tough group.

What striker doesn't dream of a goal every 12 games?
