You could drive up north, go over to Stranraer and have a look from Scottish airports as they won't be busy with people going to France. I would usually find that very funny but at the moment I don't funny man
Apologies if you were upset by the post, it was actually a genuine post trying to give you an alternative route to the tournament.

Using scotland airport isnt as bad an idea as its sounds also would be the case with irish airports and ferry ports if we are still in and ireland are out both north and republic mind for knockout stage

Out on Saturday 11th Gatwick 6.30am to Bordeaux back on the Sunday afternoon to Luton.
Out on the Thursday 6.45am Eurostar back around 1pm on the Friday.
Fly to Toulouse from Gatwick 8.30 on Monday morning, back Tuesday afternoon.
Managed to get all of the above for around £400.
Bit of a mistake with going home from Lille on the Friday to travel back on the Monday. Was only looking at dates rather than days and struggling a little for leave as off to the Dominican for a fortnight in July!!!!
Also didn't really account for getting to some of these early morning flights/trains from Cardiff!

Nothing booked yet, looks like fly out to Bordeaux on 9th then to Toulouse on 17th until 21st then go back home...
Anyone have any recommendations about accommodation in these cities? Airbnb looks good just a bit cautious and camping looks a bit spread out

Airbnb looks good just a bit cautious and camping looks a bit spread out Ibis budget hotels via the ibis website very reasonable, flexible option available for a little extra which allows you to cancel until day of arrival free of charge. They have hotels in pretty much every town/city in France.

Just looked at potential for where we'll have to head after the groups, if we go through.
We can only play: If we win the group: 25 June Paris Second: 27 June Nice Third: 25 June Lens or 26 June Lille
All routes to the final mean that we will have had to have cross the country up and down between every game except once, too! (Obviously not imagining that for one second but what a ridiculous system!)

Booked a campervan months ago for the duration of the group stage. Just got to finalise the ferry and campsites now. Looking at sailing from Portsmouth to Caen overnight on the Thursday (9th) with a 5.5 hour drive down to Bordeaux on the Friday morning, giving us a few hours to relax before hitting Bordeaux city centre for what should be an incredible night on the eve of Wales' Euro's debut.
After the Slovakia game, it all depends on whether we get tickets for the England game. If we do, we'll head up to Lens on the Tuesday or Wednesday. If not, and I wouldn't be too disappointed at all, we will stay in the south slowly making our way between Bordeaux and Toulouse during the course of the week. The south of France in the middle of June can't be too bad! In any case, whether we go to Lille or not, we will aim to be in Toulouse by the Friday evening (17th) ready for the weekend festivities ahead of the game on Monday.
After the Russia game on the Monday night, we will spend the next couple of days relaxing and exploring before heading back up towards Caen on the Wednesday night/Thursday morning ahead of a return ferry to Portsmouth overnight Thursday, on a massive downer that we're leaving behind those lucky enough to stay for the last 16 and beyond...

If you do not go to Lens then make a detour via San Sebastian. Also on the border with Spain there is a train to the highest corner of the north corner of the Pyrenees. Great view of the bottom corner of the Bay of Biscay in the distance. On and Biarritz is not bad, but it is expensive. By the way the overnight ferry from Portsmouth doubles in price for the Thursday night. Thinking of going over a night earlier so that I can fit in La Rochelle on the way to Bordeaux.

Long time reader of this forum so about time I jumped in.
Leaving on June the 9th. Eurotunnel and long drive to a campsite near Biarritz for a fortnight. That's where my family will be based while my son and myself travel to the match. Got hotels booked in Bordeaux, Toulouse and Paris. Flying to Paris and back and have a train ticket booked from Lens to Paris after the match but strangely can't book one for before it. Haven't booked train tickets for Bordeaux or Toulouse yet as the football specials that they have released tickets for seem a bit limited. I think I'll leave it until they all go on sale three months before. Going home on the 23rd so once we qualify I might have to throw a sickie!

Hi guys, it's been a hectic trying to arrange this but now sorted, I think.
I've decided to to swerve the Slovakia game and decided to get a one way euro star to Paris and intend on staying for as long we remain in the competition.
15th-17th staying in pairs with the intention of getting a train to lens to watch us against the enemy. (Praying for tickets)
Flying to Montpellier just over an hour
17th-20th staying in Montpelier
Train to Toulouse about 2 hrs
20th-21st staying in Toulouse for Russia game (preying for tickets again)
My optimism has got the better of me so I've booked hotels with cancellations in Nice and Paris for the last 16.
Can anybody offer any advice or see any holes in this other than the traveling? Before the draw I didn't want to get England or Russia because I feel they, along with France would be the biggest terrorist targets but the excitement has got the better of me and cannot wait for this trip!

My itinerary plans so far is travel with paganella logistics over to France with a tent & take it from there. No need for finding these camping sites and wasting euros plenty of rural land in France & it's going to be hot anyway. Had my access code but may struggle to get tickets as I have no credit card. Get your dad to apply for your tickets. Then take his credit card with you. It's against his religion bro.

Wow..where to begin. Retired so no problems with work so I can stay as long as I like. Brother and one mate definitely coming out for group games. One other may be joining us. Flying from East Mids to Limoges. Pick up hire car and drive 60 miles to hotel booked in Perigueux ( about 90 minutes from Bordeaux). Slovakia game Saturday 11th and check out Sunday. Make our way slowly up north. Probably stop in Tours overnight before getting to Amiens on the 15th. england game on Thursday and leave Friday 17th. Again work our way south and stop en route overnight before getting to Montauban 30 miles from Toulouse. Game day on 20th and will drive straight to Limoges airport after the game for the others to catch their return flight.
I will decide what to do after the final game. Might extend the car hire or get train to either Nice, Lens or Lille. Happy in my own company so the drive won't bother me if I DO keep the car.
We are using Formule1 hotels & costs per person are Flights return for £135, Car hire £55 Hotels £190 for the lot (I kid you not) and fuel + tolls £55 TOTAL £445 each plus food and drink. Will get a bit cheaper if the other lad can get time off work.
Will be watching this board to see if anyone fancies car sharing from Toulouse to the initial knockout game.

I ve just booked another hotel in bordeaux (i have one very close to the stadium for match day) for the 10th as i agree it will be a great party. There is a big screen outside bordeaux town hall ready for the first game that night. It will be great to have loads of welsh fans there and will feel like we've arrived.

Two of us flying from Luton to Bordeaux on June 8th (£100 return) then staying in the coastal resort of Lacanau, about 50 miles from the city - £135 for six nights in a studio. No idea how we're going to get in and out of town yet (public transport looks sparse, especially for the return trip). May have to pull an all nighter in Bordeaux after the game and catch a bus "home" in the morning!

May have to pull an all nighter in Bordeaux after the game and catch a bus "home" in the morning! Slovakia game is a 6pm ko, so shouldn't be too bad getting public transport I would assume. The Youth Hostel is very central in Bordeaux (400m from main train station) and they still have doubles rooms (one bunk-bed). This is their email resa@bxaj.eu - her name is Anaïs (For your information:The price is 24€ per person per night, including breakfast (which is served from 7:30 am to 10:30 am) and bed-linen. Payment will be made upon arrival by bank card or cash.) As for my itinerary: KLM flight from Cardiff at 10am via Amsterdam to Bordeaux on Thursday the 9th. Stay Bordeaux Youth Hostel 4 nights in double (48€ a night) Ryan Air from Bordeaux to Brussels on Monday 13 Jun • 14:35 - 16:10 • was still 37€ yesterday! Stay 2 night in double room at Ghent youth hostel (48€) Then move to Lille Youth Hostel on Wednesday for five nights - they still have beds in 2 and 3 bed-rooms for €23 each. Fly from Brussels to Carcassonne, stay two nights in this gorgeous town (again, youth hostel with 50 euro doubles - only 2 rooms were available as of yesterday!). No accommodation booked for Toulouse yet - I can't imagine getting much sleep anyway... I count on a 2nd place finish, so booked Nice Hostel for 3 night, but I also booked one night in Paris on 25 June + 3 July) just in case... Fly Brussels to Marseille on 28 June (if we are really unlucky and play Spain as 3rd place) - was 56€ yesterday Fly EasyJet from Lille to Nice on 1 July and then fly Bordeaux to Nice for SEMIS! Was 58€ yesterday. Booked the Hostel in Paris for three nights from 9th as well as hostel again in Bordeaux from 1 to 5 July - in case I need it... Think I have most things covered. KLM tickets out of Cardiff were a steal at £150 on the 13th. All Youth hostel booking only have a 10% deposit. All in all I am only about £300 spent on these all non-refundable flights ;-) Bring it on! Bring it on!

My Itinerary finally a bit more up to date now.
Wednesday 15th June Drive to Dover early morning. Ferry then about 11:00 I think it was to Calais. Then head down to somewhere above lens. Possibly looking at an Ibis hotel at saint-Omer or heading further down towards Béthune. Hotel over night hit the pub for one or two.
Thursday 16th June. Early checkout and then head down past lens to Inter-Hotel L'Aquarium which is between The town of Areas where a few other Welsh are staying and lens. Hopefully meet some fellow fans for a few beers then in areas before heading into Lens for the game / Fanzone.
Friday 16th. late Checkout to recover before driving back towards Calais and ferry back to Dover and stay at a hotel there before heading home to south Wales on the Saturday

Despite the form speaking of 'dorm beds' at 22 euro each. Rooms still plentiful for June and you only need to put down a 10% deposit (as long as you cancel with more than 24 hours notice!). Boulogne-sur-mer has some very nice sea food restaurants as well. www.hihostels.com/hostels/boulogne-sur-mer/prices#hostel-tabs

Only a short stay for me for the England game, 12 of us are gonna catch the Eurotunnel about 10am on the 15th with a mini bus, staying in Bray Dunes just past Dunkirk, going to catch the train down early on the day of the England game hopefully with tickets and catch the train back up after the game then, probably go over into Belguim for the nightlife as I don't think there is any in Bray Dunes or in Dunkirk for that matter. Either way should be a good trip, them back home on the 17th. Can't wait!
