Wow. A Liverpool coach spilling banal platitudes about one of his lads, didn't see that coming. Patrick Viera did much the same about Emyr Huws and look where he ended up. Fair comment Storm, but articles like this are lifeblood of this forum without these we would have nothing to talk/discuss about and either agree or disagree on a players future potential. Wasn't having a go at you, but I actually do get a bit pissed off about articles like that because it does feel like the reader is being treated like an idiot- especially having seen how other youngsters fade into obscurity. So I'm not sure how much that contributes positively to discussion because it tells us little and comes from such a biased source. Its like the Daily Mail telling us the Tories are doing a brilliant job of running the country.

The smear campaign against Corbyn shows they are doing a brilliant job of stopping other people doing a brilliant job of running the country....but lets not mix sport and politics, its heated enough when we talk purely about football!

Nice article here about Danny Ward: www.fourfourtwo.com/features/danny-ward-liverpool-shot-stopper-thriving-loan-aberdeen#:il3OfjRWTTn3RAJourneyman midfielder Willo Flood was quick to heap praise on Ward after he pulled off a point-blank save from Dundee United’s Mario Bilate on the opening day of the league season. “For me, he’s the best I’ve played with. When I was at Manchester City there was David James and Nicky Weaver, who were top goalkeepers. But Wardy, for his age, his stature, everything about him - he’s up there with the best. He has all the makings of a Premier League player in England. We’re just happy we have him for the season.”

I bet he'll be our #1 for the next campaign. I don't think he'll get the nod as soon as the Euros though but in terms of ability there probably isn't much between him and Hennessey.

Bit hyperbolic for the first game of the season - but to be fair to Ward he has backed that up with the clean sheets and reviews he has been getting since. Its not like Aberdeen's defence is giving him nothing to do. He sounds like quite the player now, amazing to think that he will most likely improve. Could be a Southall for us.

Would be great to see him oust Mignolet one day and become the Liverpool no.1 It's all well and good doing it in Scotland, the English Premier will be a totally different story but I don't see why not.

Recalled by Liverpool
Let's hope he sees some playing time, I suspect he's going to spend the rest of the season on the bench though

I imagine his recall is down to the fact that Bogdan has failed to impress. Good chance of a place on the bench at least. Could he feature in the replay against Exeter I wonder?

I agree it's a shame he'll probably be on the bench now, but I expect he'll start in their replay against Exeter..

What have Liverpool got to lose by playing him in the replay?

FA Cup rules state that if you can't play in the original game, you can't play in the replay, so as he was out on loan on Friday he won't be able to play in the replay.

He'll be first choice in a few weeks. Mignolet is shit!

Saw some quotes from Jürgen about the fact he disagrees to a large extent with the loan system and believes it is better for them to play together in the under 21's to make them more attuned to the clubs way of playing and it helps them transition to the first team better.
That is probably why Ward, Wilson and the dozens of others that Liverpool have out on loan are being recalled.

A shame for Ward and a shame for Wales, unless Klopp is planning to play him

I don't rate the standard in Scotland, BUT he was playing (very well indeed) for a team contending for the league. Seems mad to recall him now just for him to play no part in the rest of the season.
He does sound like a very good keeper. It is a pity that a club of Liverpool's stature will always go for the tried and tested keeper because if given a chance he could surprise a few people. I hope he gets a first team break somewhere soon- he seems too good to spend his early career warming a bench like a lot of average young keepers.

I'm happy with him being on the bench, it won't be too long before he's No.1 I'm sure.

Unless he can break into the first team at liverpool this season he will never ever be able to establish himself there because in the summer they will go looking for an experienced international player. His only chance is to play and impress.

It's no coincidence that this has happened after Bogdans hapless display against Exeter. I imagine he will be number two and will probably be asked to be number two after they move Mignolet on and sign a better keeper.

Mignolet made a few errors in the first half. Ward just been name checked by Macca in the BT studio whose a big Liverpool fan, perhaps he will get a chance?

If Ward is now 2nd choice then he'll get a chance to show what he can do in FA cup and Europa league, and with Mignolet being unconvincing, who knows...
