Get a free European Health Insurance Card - linkGet a postal vote for the European referendum - contact your local council (as long as you are voting STAY!!!) Get a Halifax Clarity credit card - foreign money transactions without any fees/charges - usually takes under a week if done ONLINEGet a THREE Network SIM only to use in France - even pay as you go will be activated immediately and you can make and receive calls to/from any UK number for free (within your minutes) and make calls to French numbers for 5.6p/mins, AND also use your data! Many contract deals, but if you only want a PAYG SIM for 30 days its only £10 for 3000 texts and 100 minutes plus 1GB of internet. If staying in youth hostels ... remember to bring a towel, flip flops, earplugs and maybe also an eye-mask...

Anyone camped in France before?

A wallet full of money to enjoy yourselves
A suitcase full of optimism for what we may achieve
A rucksack full of realism what what we will probably achieve
A washbag full of humility for when we are beaten by a better team.

Jonnylits, There are loads of campsites in France, lots of towns and villages have their own sites which are normally referred to as Municipal sites, standards very though, commercial sites will have better facilities, lots have bars and pools. Get yourself a good guide book, ACSI is one, they also do a discount card which gets you discounted camping on some sites. Another good guide book is the Caravan Club Europe 1 book which covers France and Spain.

Camping in France is great, have done it numerous times and they really set up for camping.
If camping many sites will offer a Hook up service, er electrical that is not the other kind.
If it is valuable then ask at reception for a safe or to put documents in a safe.............. passport and tickets come to mind.
Please and Thank you are a minimum courtesy and don't do it then don't expect to get served quickly.
Remember you are representing your Nation and while you may not remember the tiny campsite that you and a group of fans stayed at, they will remember you................... make that memory good, next Welsh people staying there get judged against you.
Drinking and driving is a NoNo......................don't care what the locals do as caught then expect to get arrested quickly................. goes back to previous point, campsite people may be willing to get involved for a bunch of nice people providing no one hurt.
Get a Laminated sheet with DRIVE ON THE RIGHT and keep it beside steering wheel when starting off after stopping somewhere.
Have prob done 10,000 miles driving on RHS BUT when tired, starting off again or distracted you will revert to normal behaviour.
Be remembered so in 10 yrs time your photo is still on the wall and they remember those nice fans.

Drivers, pack a warning triangle, headlight deflectors, breathalysers, spare headlight bulbs & fluorescent jacket! Enough jackets for every driver, breathalyser is not a legal requirement.

Anybody driving needs to get an insurance green card, breakdown cover, take their driving licence, they also need spare light bulbs, hi viz jacket, breakdown triangle and it's an offence to have a sat nav which displays speed camera zones. Don't forget, if you get caught speeding you have to pay on the spot, if you can't pay the police can either take you to a cashpoint or impound your car.
Bon voyage!

Difficult one when gets before court if you have a car where this is installed and no detailed instructions how to disable are included in car when bought. In practice in some 20 plus years of driving in France and on Autoroutes rarely at recommended speed I can only remember 1 speed trap and that was a device on side of road where 5 km later there were 2 bike cops.

Anyone hiring a car in France should get a DVLA code in case the rental car company ask for it. www.gov.uk/view-driving-licenceAlso, as I found out the hard way, driving licence photocards expire after 10 years and I wasn't allowed to hire a car so it's worth checking.

We have just purchased a new car (French) and indeed they do not come with camera alerts on the sat nav, you can purchase and download but certain countries are excluded, France being one of them.

Following on from what happened at Old Trafford this afternoon, then it is likely that the already high state of security will get increased even more.
Getting even into stadium environs may become even harder where everything is checked a couple of times................. so don't expect to get from downtown to inside Stadium in 20 minutes as everyone will have that idea.
In Euro2012 all bags were searched etc but I think this may go beyond this, abandonment of a game is a publicity coup for someone. If don't need it at match then don't take it.
It may not be on to-do list but worth remembering that if have over imbibed beforehand you could get turned away.

Thanks That is a handy get out if stopped Just say well car doesn't come with it according to Manufacturer, if you have downloaded it from a pirate site then up to Cops at side of road to prove, reality is unless you driving a Ferrari they not likely to be interested / cop probably not a software whizz. Reality is few will get stopped unless they taking the p&ss and if stopped and really push the Gendarme you deserve what you get. Cops will be more interested in you driving safely than targeting football fans. Course saying Welsh not English probably will work in your favour as well

Yeh, the card with the FSF Cymru helpline / contact number which gets sent out with the tickets for away games. The number that I have saved in my phone is +447905861848.

Thanks for that! Which also reminds me, that when calling a number from your contacts on the phone, if you are in FRANCE, you must add +44 and omit the 0

Has anyone who's driving considered or have any experience with the toll tag. Thinking of getting 1 as I'm traveling to bordeaux on the Friday before the game (05.20 euro tunnel) & expect roads & tolls to be busy so could save some time.

To be honest I don't expect tolls to be that bad as even in August I don't remember every having more than a few minutes wait. If take the coast route and avoid Paris I would be surprised to get much of a delay unless an accident. www.carrefour-calais.com/default/itinerary_page/This shows location of Carrefour filling station at Citie-Europe where fuel at the moment is 10-15p per litre cheaper than UK for unleaded and 25-30p for diesel and its within a minute or two from Chunnel exit. Its a 24 hr station that get to main parking area and then follow route down below to get there. It accepts Credit/Debit cards and also a good place to ensure they work.

My experience of the French toll motorways is similar to oscardeltas, the toll roads aren't particularly busy and the toll booths are usually hassle free, it's far from the Severn bring dye experiences! I have always travelled with others, so being on the wrong side of the road hasn't been an issue, if you are on your own the tag may be Worth considering, if you have company I wouldn't bother.
Oscar d, thanks for the tip re Carrefour, I will defo use that.
