Travel is the issue at the moment Instead of flying direct to Bordeaux go via somewhere else and catch a train e.g. Paris or Toulouse

Is this strike 100% happening? No, it's very likely to be resolved before then and even failing that, the unions would lose a huge amount of public support/sympathy if they disrupted the Euros. Anyhow, the strikes only affect about 50% of services so wherever you need to reach, there should be a way of doing so even if does take slightly longer and intended times are affected.
You all seem quite relaxed about this. We're travelling Bordeaux to Paris on the Wed and back and fore to Lens on the Thursday. With all the trains pretty much full and half the trains not running it could be an issue getting on the ones that are. Lens could be an absolute nightmare. Like many we've left it late getting there as there's little to do. Doesn't leave much capacity for something not going to plan. Could we find out in advance which trains will run and which wont.

All the better reason to get a physical train ticket to Lens at least. Can imagine that people with physical tickets (maybe trains tickets AS WELL AS match tickets) will have priority over walk-ons ... or am I just naive? Buy it here and get is posted within 48 hours or so - be.voyages-sncf.com/en/

It must have taken me through a different option and I've go to pick those up from a machine when I'm in Paris. Probably do that on the way down to Bordeaux as I've got a couple of hours to spare.

Looking forward to it, catch a bit of sight seeing at my own pace then latch onto to some people. Haven't lived in Wales for 20 years but suspect it'll be like a school reunion like other times I've either gone to Wembley with cardiff or wales away. Happy days

Another option is to fly into Bergerac from Bristol on Ryan Air on match day morning arriving at 9am (returning Tuesday 14th) for £128 return. I imagine rooms should be readily available and reasonably priced seeing as it's an hour away from Bordeaux. I can get you to Bordeaux and back as I'm passing there on my way to Bordeaux in my 17 seater. Just throwing another option out there.

Dear guests, Before posting on our board (any bulletin board on the internet...) please first do a SEARCH to see if your question has already been asked... First, click on France Travel and Tickets Then, at the top right corner there is a box with a magnifying glass that says ... SEARCH in it. Type your phrase: eg. "Arcachon" Then you might find... apostlewelshfootie.proboards.com/thread/5078/staying-arcachon-slovakia-game

I'm ten minutes from marche des capucins on rue de la rousselle. Looks pretty good for seafood etc. I'm on my own on the tenth before I meet up with a few others on the Saturday morning. Any fellow solo travelers going to the opening game at the fanzone on the Friday?
