They don't think a great deal of him on the Coventry fans forum. Still got 200 Championship appearances under his belt. Makes a problem position for us much stronger. Orthodox as a left footer too. Great news for us and would feel confident throwing him into any game

The one is totally out of the blue, which seems a strange thing to say when we’ve known about him for years and years.
I really thought that we wouldn’t see him in a Welsh shirt, especially as we seemed to have players ahead of him anyway in the pecking order.
The fact that he’s been added to the squad late on does suggest that we’ve got injury concerns though.

Surprised it’s taken so long for him to commit if he was keen, but I’ll forgive him if it took 2 years for Fifa to ratify!
Love Cole congratulating him on Twitter, seems like Jay is very eager to be involved - which is great.
Good depth for us at Left wing back. I’d imagine height would be an issue for him in a 4 back, though.
Pleased with this.

Wow - did not expect this! I always hoped it would happen.
A work colleague is a Bristol City season ticket holder and he really rated him … at least at some stage of his time there.
I remember Cole saying how proud his Nan would’ve been (in reference to him playing for one of the Wales youth sides), it seemed like it meant a lot.
He’s a very decent player!

Does anyone know how good he is or how good he could potentially be - he is 25 so a couple of year to reach his peak I guess?
What type of full back is he?

Good player on his day and very rarely has a bad game. A nice option to have certainly, quick and comfortable on the ball.

When he was an U21 for England I think the feeling was that he would go on to be a Premier League player and a possible England international. Obviously he won't reach that level but he's played 200 senior games, most of which are at Championship level - so I've got no doubt he'd be at home in international football I think any Championship player can become a PL player in the right circumstances, but his ceiling is probs mid table PL, and his floor is probably low end Championship - which for us is good He's an attacking full back who can play wing back, but guessing he's not too much of a soft touch in defence to be playing regularly in the Championship in a back 4

I know they don’t strictly play in the same position but another reason for the call up is the fact that Regan Poole and Wes Burns are injured, they’ve obviously been higher up the pecking order

You never know. Playing international football could raise his game. Big crowds for big games and playing against top players at times with different styles can help develop you.
Exciting to think of some of the strength in depth on the scene at full back and midfield that has recently arrived and with some youngsters looking to smash down the door in the near future like Crew and Koumas !

Issues around whether playing for England U21s at the Euros in 2019 disqualified him. All cleared up now, he's eligible. Unsure where he ranks in the hierarchy but I'd say behind Neco he's possibly next in line for LWB

Yes, but it was quoted at the time that he was wouldn’t be selected for this camp to recover fully (as they couldn’t be sure last week whether he’d recover in time)

Do we know how much he's played at CM? Could be a real option there to shore things up + gives tactical flexibility

Its really great to hear he has been trying to switch for 2 years (so since he was 23 I guess)
Disgraceful it has taken 2 years. I wonder if it would take that long if it were an application from a major footballing nation!

I think my post on page two has been mis read, post yesterday was based on posts at the top of Page 2 in 2021
Over two years to CONFIRM whether he was still eligible to change association under the Fifa regulation changes, as it was never really clear until now

Good to see some positivity here, twitter very much hung up on his Eng U21 apps. A very good fullback and a natural left footer, will be stiff competition for Neco in my opinion. And at the very least he is more than capable to come on as backup.

Ironically saw him at a charity tournament in Luton back in the summer. Had to really hold my tongue to avoid going up to him and lobbying for us. As long as he is committed (and if it has taken two years to call up, I imagine at this stage he must be), he would be an excellent addition.
Think the Coventry move obviously hasn't worked out for him. Given how it has flipped for them between losing to use in May and where they are now, anyone 'new' is taking the blame as to the reason it has all gone wrong. When the real reason is that they had Hamer, who looks like the only PL quality player in that Sheff U team and Gyokeres, who has started so well at Sporting that his next move his probably to a elite European club, and now they don't. (I genuinely believe if Hamer hadn't got injured at Wembley, Cov would be in the PL right now.
