Ethan on the bench today. Wayne is back from injury, but only on the bench Concerned Wayne might not get his place back in the Palace side. We're going to struggle without a regular No1 if that happens. A choice between benchwarmers and lower league journeymen.

Ethan starting today in the Aaron Ramsey Cup ;-)
EDIT
Another flawless performance. Assured, always with the head up, always passing forward. Think he lost the ball three times, and each time, won it straight back!
Played a little more forward than usual. Teamed up well with Febregas, and a younger Cesc would have got a hat trick in the first half, with some beautiful through balls off Ethan.
Still feel he is better off staying at Chelsea til the Summer, than stagnating in a Championship side and learning very little

Why would he stagnate in a Championship side when he's getting regular game time? That seems a bit of a perverse argument to be honest, as that is exactly what could be said of the minimal game time he's likely to get with Chelsea. Mind you if the Championship side in question is Derby rather than Swansea then I'm in complete agreement...

Would love to see him go to the Bundesliga on a transfer, rather than get stuck in the PL club loan circuit until his mid 20's. Hoffenheim/Leverkusen/Gladbach would be brilliant.

Still not entirely sure what to make of it, but I heard Maurizio Sarri on the weekend mention Ethan in connection to Febregas leaving, and I heard him this morning on the radio saying the exact same phrase in regards of Gary Cahill leaving. Something along the lines of "We are not sure if he is leaving, but we have Ampadu to cover his position".
He either rates him highly, or he learnt from Klooop to big his players up and then sell them on for £20m...

Can't wait for his inevitable move to either Watford or the Bundesliga I would like to see our younger players moving to the Bundesliga league or any European league for that matter. At least they would be given a fair chance unlike what currently happens at premiership teams. Just been looking at the Man City verses Burton game. No youngsters involved with City as usual, so if Smith was at City & not at that Dutch team he would not get any first team action.

Ethan on the bench for this one. Granted, not likely to get game time especially given the current scoreline (mwahaha...) but promising for his future nonetheless perhaps. Seems Sarri doesn't quite know what to do with him. He wants him to get game time but seems reluctant to let him go out on loan.

With Higuain no less. Go on Ethan! Thought that up until the 2nd goal, Morgan Fox did very well to keep him (and the English Wonderkid) very quiet ;-)

I thought he had a decent, 6/10 performance but will need to be better if he wants to break into the team anytime soon. He played the Jorginho role in the first half where he's basically expected to constantly find space, get on the ball more than anyone else, and play nice simple passes. It didn't really suit him as he's more of a destructive, traditional defensive mid who likes to spend time on the ball and look for the more difficult pass.

He doesn't look out of place but he needs a run of games. Another solid performance but I can’t see him getting much more game time this season unfortunately. Question is, does that earn him a place in the starting 11 against Slovakia?
