I might be a little biased, but if you enjoyed the mostly bland Moldovan fare, you will never want to leave Georgia... The local wine here has a hint of Shiraz sweetness and the food is really flavourful.. It's almost 8.30pm - so will go and explore some more (it's been 33c for last three days) We found a decent steak house next to cosmos hotel where we were staying. We ordered "lunch of a really man" in one traditional restaurant and I couldnt finish it...happy exploring!

I shall try to keep you lads updated when I get to Tbilisi and Kutaisi this week end :+) For now, all I can say, is if anyone actually has 3 days to spare, Yerevan is a truly stunning city. More beautiful then Bordeaux, more charming then Toulouse, better night life than Tel Aviva, and even more friendly than the Serbs :+) Could you let us know costs when there if you can spare a few minutes if possible? Chisinau was mixed comparing real costs of beer, food and taxis to website averages. Just need a rough estimate on how much to take out from cashpoint when I land! To give you an idea of prices we took euro in cash with us and exchanged it in the exchange point when arrived in kutaisi. I originally changed €250 which got us around 720 local currency and I only had to change €50 more for my weeks stay in Georgia (including paying for my apartment in Tbilisi and accommodation in kutaisi) If was a little more careful with my money (not getting ripped off with few taxi journeys etc) the original 720 would of been enough. Even drinking in the 2 Irish bars is was still cheap less than €1 for a beer

I am in Tblisi right now and finding it wonderful.Absolutely safe and easy going.Hostels are good and cheap and no need to stay in pricey hotels.Great food and plenty of bars.Bit on the small side.So I suggest the OLD TOWN area which is full of bar/restaurants.This is only a couple or maybe three stops on Metro from the ground or about a 40 minute walk.Bottled local beer excellent but stay off the 'chacha' which is the local vodka.Plenty of English spoken and it,ll be easy to get fired up as their flag is almost exactly the same as the English cross of Saint George.TOP TIP bring some toilet paper.

Just checked name of street with all bars.Called Chardin Street. Its practically under the cable car.For the ravers this is where the new club scene is.Beer about 5 lari(about £1.70) a pint.Half the price in a shop and they are very relaxed about street drinking.Dope and drugs are seriously frowned upon and there is a big police presence butIve not come across any tourist who has been harrassed by them.Earlier post suggested that the ground was within spitting distance of thr rail station but one post here says its 2 miles away.?So now Im not sure.TOP TIP Dont sing the Russian national anthem.

Anyone know how much the bus from Kutaisi airport to Tbilisi is? Tried looking on the booking website but it won't show you the price before entering all your details.

II ILooking at the map, the stadium is right next to the central station and Metro..Be sure to checkout the super cheap flights over to Mestia - about £15 from Tbilisi and £10 from Kutaisi. I'll be up there from Monday to Friday next week.. Need to detach myself from Yerevan first...

Being Manchester based and flying from Gatwick is annoying but, let's face it, an end result is worth it.
I'm stopping over in London twice.

Wizz Air: Bristol to Katowice on Tues 3rd (£25) and Katowice to Kutaisi on Wed 4th (249 zloty = approx £55). Not so good for flying home, but it may be a help to someone needing an alternative way of getting to Georgia relatively cheaply.

I'm looking to book flights leaving on a Tuesday / Wednesday and returning on returning on the Sunday. Does anyone have any suggestions? Happy to fly from anywhere and via most places. Just struggling to find anything for less than £400.

Just struggling to find anything for less than £400. Have a look at the following Gatwick to Kiev depart on 4th rtn on 7th £169 sensible times, £115 for late flights with ukranian airways then Kiev to Tbilisi on 5th rtn on 7th is £164 with georgian airways. If you do the early flights there is 24 hours in kiev (overnight hotels are cheap) Me and a mate doing this route.

Anyone have a link for booking the bus from Ketuasi to Tbilisi If you go to your booking email (I assume you're flying with Wizz?) then there's an option to book your airport transfers on there.

@bethan - you can do much worse than a 24-hour stay in Kiev. A spectacular city. If you opt for the midnight arrival and early morning departure, Then Korona Hotel Boryspil - is only 7€ Including gorgeous breakfast and 24 hour cheap restaurant /bar. Airport transfer was about 3 euro extra. 5, Borispilskaya Ulitza, Chubinske, Kiev region, Boryspil, 08321, UA +380955032323 +380507070807

Just struggling to find anything for less than £400. London Luton - Katowice 8.30 am on the 4th £ 32 on Wizz air. Another £ 10 gets a later departure and reduces the wait in Katowice Katowice - Kutaisi approx. £ 48 on Wizz air arriving 03.55 Thursday morning.
The cheapest back seems to be Turkish on the 7 / 10 at 5.25am from Tbilisi arriving in London 12.40 for £ 138.67 on the Expedia site. The more civilised departure 17.20 arriving at 22.30 is £ 209.
So you can still get to Georgia for £ 80 and back for £ 140 even if the flight times are not great.

Take a look on skyscanner.net
They are currently showing Stansted (04/10 - 12:00) to Tbilisi with a 4hr 30 min stopover in Istanbul and a return (07/10 - 04:30) again via Istanbul for £357
They are also showing options from Gatwick from £365 and Heathrow from £372

Shocking how the prices skyrocket.

If anyone is trying to be super economical and don't mind spending all day Saturday in Istanbul (6am to 9pm) AND arrive London STANSTED at 22.30... that can be done for £105 on on Pegasus.
The much more civilsed option for return leg is: Dept Tbilisi Sunday 0430 to Istanbul arrive 6am then dept at 9am and arrive London at 11am for £117 on Pegasus
Combine that with Wizz out of Luton on Thursday for £110 and that gets you return travel for £230...
Personally, I'd still opt for the Kutaisi Wizz Air direct thing for £170, coming back.. I hope the morning train to Kutaisi on the Sunday will be bouncing, and every man woman and child on board knows the Benny Woodburn song by the time we get into Kutaisi station...

Aye, booked before I booked moldova trip though. My bank gave me £1600 after a missold packaged bank account claim. Covered Serbia away and Georgia away in full with change. Flying at a decent time and stopping in nice hotels. I might pop over to Liverpool to get some new trainers from a fancy shop I know to wear in a few weeks. Got to look the part!
