Someone on Twitter just said he was recalled by Swansea. Obviously just a Twitter comment so no idea if true.

Wikipedia states
"His loan deal was terminated by mutual consent on 31 August, after he failed to make a match-day squad in the league or cup during his time at the club."

Someone on Twitter just said he was recalled by Swansea. Obviously just a Twitter comment so no idea if true. It clearly states on the official website: "Shrewsbury Town can confirm that Dan James’ loan spell has been terminated by mutual consent and he will return to Swansea City. Dan joined Town on-loan from Swansea this summer, but he hasn’t been able to force his way into Paul Hurst’s side." That says in black and white he wasn't good enough.

JAMES AIMS TO PROGRESS FOR ‘FRUSTRATING SEASON’ www.swanseacity.com/news/james-aims-progress-frustrating-seasonA reoccurring abdominal strain has limited the promising 20-year-old to just one start and five appearances for the development side this campaign. The winger returned from six weeks on the sidelines on Thursday, coming off the bench to score as the under-23s defeated Colchester United 5-1 in Group D of the Premier League Cup. “It is great to be back, especially after being out the last few weeks,” he said. “It has been a frustrating season - very stop start, very on and off. “Sometimes there is nothing you can do about it. I have just had to maintain my focus and keep working hard off the pitch. “I have had to deal with this injury for a while. I am not 100 per cent yet, but I think I am close. “Getting a goal was the perfect way to show I am coming back to full fitness. “It is a massive confidence boost for me and I want to build on Thursday’s performance and target more starts. “There are plenty of games between now and Christmas. I need to play as many as I can.”

Sound like he’s aiming to be fit in time for a January loan. Hopefully the next works out better than the last.

It was a clever finish. He showed a lot of composure on the ball and was lively throughout. Hopefully he’s earned more time on the pitch in the next tie a week Saturday.

Was at game last night and had an amazing vantage point to see everything that both Dan James and Connor Roberts were doing on and off the ball and spent most the game keeping an eye on what they were doing in particular.
1st half Connor was taking up very good wide positions in lots of space, but the ball was obviously going to Narsingh most of the time, but he got his foot in when called upon in defense, pulled opposition defenders around when in attack, made one bad pass, that was it.
2nd half, was more involved, was very good at helping out in attack, reminded me an awful lot of Ben Davies (which is good obviously lol), getting in clear positions on goal although wasn't always passed to. The general feeling of myself and the people sat by me was that Roberts is better than Naughton and should be a strong consideration for Prem squad place, at the very least as a substitute.
Enter Dan James, very impressed. He was constantly making himself available for pass, first thought was attack, was difficult to get ball off, seemed to be quick thinking and has a decent shot. All of us were very pleased to see him in squad and when he came on we were all saying that we hoped he would show Carlos Carvalhal and everyone on tv what he could do and the general feeling was that he did indeed. Seemed to worry defenders every time he got ball, took goal very well. Again, everyone I talked to thought that he deserves the chance to be in Prem squad at least off bench (probably be Routledge again next game though lol).
In all, I watch a lot of the u23s at Swansea, there are a few lads knocking on door both for Swans and Wales, the Swans Prem league 2 squad is where it is for good reason, they really are very good players coming through. These 2 in particular should be considered for going to China imo.

Roberts would be closer but still needs to do a little more, remember he didn't cut it at middlesborough. Both promising players lets not get carried away just yet

Wasn’t James called up to one of the last Coleman squads? Update - yes he was, the Serbia game
Coleman used to play narrow with overlapping full backs so maybe Giggs will look to play more with out and out wingers? That is one position he will be able to pass good advice.

Yeah I was very impressed by what I saw of James, will be interesting to see if he does push ahead of Routledge in the pecking order.

Woodburn has hardly played for Liverpool's first team either, yet was involved with our most important games last campaign. I know it was against a team getting battered last night, but with fact it was still his debut and live on mainstream tv etc , he still needed to prove himself and show how confident he is, and he did indeed. And with Roberts, don't know what went wrong at Boro, but he has not let down on every opportunity he has had this season at Swansea, he visibly does more than the supposed 1st teamer Naughton, I was fortunate to have an amazing vantage point last night in 2nd half could see exactly where all his runs were even where he was looking off ball, not saying he the greatest thing since sliced bread or anything, but he clearly is very good player and imo is able 2 play on either side, was very good against Wolves, Newcastle and County last night. Not saying replace Gunter, but certainly worth either giving him chance in easier friendly or bringing him off bench. I hope Wales do not use China to play same squad that went to Euros plus Woodburn, Brooks and Ampadu, I think a few other places could go to promising youngsters too like these 2 and Mepham for certain.

Think the general thought is that he should be getting more match day squad time ahead of Routledge, but Routledge so far has been lucky to keep getting picked. But hope that changes a bit now.

Who would you pick James and Roberts ahead of? Certainly think that Taylor/Richards/Lockyer shouldn't be guaranteed in defense, personally would take Roberts over Taylor, Mepham over Lockyer for China, questionable about Ash too, but he is captain so maybe just about gets away with it. In midfield the places of Ledley, Edwards and King out of regular midfielders shouldn't be guaranteed, would certainly take James over one of them. Up top is most difficult for me with there possibly being a place to fight for between Wilson/T Roberts/Bradshaw (this is very dependant on who gets going quick enough now they should be playing more regularly 1st team wise)

We're not seriously talking about dropping a Premier League regular (Ash) for lower level defenders are we?
Mepham is the future but for now, Williams and Chester are the obvious choices at the back.

There's no way Roberts deserves a spot over Richards and Taylor, who've played consistent football in the top two divisions for a few years. Mepham over Lockyer, yes. Again, what has Dan James done to deserve a place over 3 experienced players who've played consistently at high levels? Not only that, but picking him over one of those three leaves us light on central midfield cover Wilson and Bradshaw play different position and there's no way Tyler Roberts deserves a call up over Bradshaw We all want to see youngsters getting opportunities in squads, but they have to earn it first and win the spot off an experienced pro

Any talk about dropping Ash right now is just ridiculous, but would certainly take Mepham to China over Lockyer - he's younger, playing regularly at a higher level and playing really well. A no brainer for me.
Agreed with Welshiron on Dan James and Connor Roberts, they're decent prospects but lets not get ahead of ourselves.

Must agree that I like the idea of taking youth to on our China trip, ahead of seniors that fail to commend a regular first team place. However, this trip is probably more about commercial endevour ... so I expect that players like King and Taylor will command their regular spots. I am not, for a single minute, dismissing their commitment for Wales and footballing ability. Its just that I would like to think that these friendlies are about the next generation, not the last one. ... Unless Churchy gets a call up and then I will be the first to deny any of this!

I disagree on whether Roberts deserves place over Taylor tbh, Woodburn last tournament proves that we don't necessarily pick our squads in that way just based off experience as he really took the place of more experienced players with out much 1st team experience himself, arguably Roberts has done more 1st team appearances this season and James has done more or less the same as Woodburn in Prem 2 team and I'm pretty certain we wont be leaving Woodburn at home. My whole point is that the China tournament should be a mix of our best players, Bale, Ramsey, Allen, Lawrence etc and our youngsters who are knocking on the door, I think that arguably the youngsters mentioned are going to be as good if not better than the regulars I mentioned by time Euro qualifiers come around and we would be missing great opportunity. Never suggested that Bradshaw and Wilson like for like, but there others in squad who could play in Bradshaw's position if it came to it, what I said about Tyler Roberts, Wilson and Bradshaw competing was based off who is more in form now that Roberts and Wilson now at new clubs with a lot more possibility of 1st team action If the tournament in China is being seen as just a money spinner, it still stands to reason that the players I mentioned who could be replaced are not technically crowd pullers on world scale. they want to see Bale, Ramsey, Allen
