... And he gets an assist in the first minute. With terrifying pace, closing down their defender ;-) Hits the bar after 8' as well Sores an easy goal from 10 yards to the right corner
The man is on fire

If you haven't seen this before this gives a good insight into the personalities amongst Swansea's Welsh contingent.

He also single-handedly got three Brentford players booked.

Agreed. I can't wait for the summer double-headers. Roll on June!

Having watched the whole Brentford match I think that was Dan's best all-round performance for Swansea. Apart from a precise low finish to the bottom corner, and hitting the bar, a lot of his key passes found the target. Encouraging if he's to develop into the complete package, not just a speed merchant.

That's good to hear as up to now it's really been his final ball / crossing and decision making that has been the weakest part of his game.

Fantastic goal. Curled it in with his right foot. Didn't see it. It sounds like he is starting to use the whole of the goal instead of shooting at the goalie ;-)

Would like to hear from someone who watches James ever week, honestly what calibre of club do you think he could currently start for?

In terms of pace and control James is world class - but then again so was Walcott when he first burst onto the scene. You only had to look at Traore when he came on for Wolves on Sunday to see how pace and dribbling ability only gets you so far. Having said that James is developing with every game - and his goal today was the perfect example having had two similar efforts on Saturday that curled just wide of the post. Up to a few weeks ago pretty much all of his shots were straight at, or close to the goalie.
It's hard to answer the question - but given how well he played against Citeh and Slovakia I would say he could be a starter for a mid-table Premier League side for sure. I think a bigger calibre of club will be looking to pick him up mind. He's practically unplayable at the moment.

He seems like an old school United type of winger from what I've seen of him.

Where has this kid come from? I don't mean literally. I mean we've raved about Woodburn, Ampadu, Wilson etc. Even Rodon and Mepham as saviours to our defensive woes. Then this kid comes through them all and could be the most important player we have in Euro 2020 Qualifying. Crazy.

This kid is built for the Premier League. So explosive, and absolutely terrorised Stoke. Can see a bidding war for him next Summer.

Every time I see him he gets better and better. We've been blessed with good prospects in recent years but Dan James is as good as any of them. If we can just get a stable organised defence then qualification should be there for the taking.

He's flying at the moment, if Swansea don't get him to sign a new contract soon they'll lose out on millions in transfer money. Even if he signed and left in the summer they'd benefit. The Welsh conveyor belt continues to glitter.

TBH having watched the Swans U23s for last few seasons, apart from not having been to many this season, I could see this coming. I wrote at page one of this thread how Connor Roberts and Dan James were going to be top players and have written more about Joe Rodon on Social media. I could see from them early days that Dan was a player who could not just run at defences, but actually rip them apart and he had a very Bale esque quality about his style of play, but on top of that he has something different imo, he has this ability to duck under an opponents arms at speed, due to his size lol. And another thing that I witnessed whilst watching Swans U23s was the link up play between Connor and Dan when they play on same side of field. Its something I think not too many will have witnessed so far due to them normally playing on opposite sides of field normally, but I can tell you that it is potentially another weapon in the armoury as they seemed to have this understanding of each other. Joe Rodon imo is also going to be top player, his attitude alone will see to that and his footballing family are super supportive of him. I think Cian Harries and Ben Cabango could be next off Swans production line, but there are others who im looking forward to seeing how they develop.

I've often followed the threads on here and recall reading at that he was on loan at Shrewsbury Town, then he was starting to impress at Swansea, but since then he's literally exploded onto the scene. Amazing player. I once thought Bale would be our "once in a generation" player, is it too much to hope that we may have another potential world class player on our hands? I'm very cautious but equally, I'm also excited to see how our national team develops in the near future. Along with James, it would be so interesting to see how they develop if Ampadu, Wilson, and Brooks all start playing first team PL football. I hope he ends up in the Premier League next season. Bournemouth would be my choice, seeing as their new signings get regular game time and I'm confident Eddie Howe would encourage his development further.

I’m interested to hear what you consider the ceiling to be for a ‘top player’. What level of clubs do you expect James, Roberts and Rodon to end up at? I’d been keeping up with James’s highlights this season, and was excited to see what he could do after his performance vs Man City, but seeing him live against Slovakia really blew me away. Pekarík is playing in the Spanish top flight, and was Slovakia’s most experienced defender on the day, and James had him on toast. Pekarík could not get near to him and had no answer for the whole 90 minutes. That’s what impressed me the most, the way he dominated that flank. It also seems as though Championship defenders can’t come up with any answers either, which explains why he is causing multiple bookings/red cards. ‘We can’t deal with him, so kick him until he stops’. This alone tells me he is currently operating at a Premier League level, just the question I’m wondering about is how good of a club would be prepared to take him and play him regularly?

Are you sure? I'm sure he plays in Germany. I think James can end up at least in top half of the Prem. Hell, if Brooks went from a bench warmer at Sheff Utd to a first team player at Bournemouth, James can probably surpass that given his form this season. I predict both he and Roberts will go up after this season. Not sure on Rodon yet, been injured for most of this year and can't see him playing all that much before the season ends. Unless Swansea manage to go up via playoffs, but can't see that happening.

Still the top flight in Germany though.

When you look at the players in same positions in Prem league top 6, he is arguably becoming as good as any of them now. Pep Guardiola is apparently very impressed. The commentators for the game v Man City were going mental over him for the entire game pretty much. His performance levels have rarely dropped in last few months, no matter of opposition. Connor imo will at very least be good enough for top half of Prem league, arguably would walk into Man Utd team now. Also for those who don't know yet, check out Welsh youngster at Utd called Dylan Levitt, already making waves in U23s. Joe Rodon has broke through this season and has for most part been a revelation. He has made a few mistakes, but that was only to be expected, but has great attitude and imo will also get to at least play for top half Prem team. He is 6 foot 4 or 5, he is building strength pretty quickly and learning the game very well. I feel really confident about the June double header, which imo is the toughest part of this campaign and feel that Giggs, Osian and staff have gone about things the right way in bringing these players through. the thought of our squad at full strength is frightening. The thought of James and Brooks running at defences, let alone Bale etc is scary lol.

Exciting prospect but will become a marked man soon and will be interesting to see how he develops to cope with that.
Also a massive jump from championship to premier league.
Think he could well go on to have a stellar career.
Think this could well be the order in how good a career they have
Ampadu Brooks Wilson James Woodburn Mepham C Roberts Smith Matondo T Roberts
That's a decent top 10 to keep our eyes on
