You forgot to mention he's English. So are many of our first team players so who cares. He's played for Wales U19s so let's hope he carries on if he's a good player.

Why do u say he's English?? Maybe he has welsh parents?? I was born in Hereford but I'm no where near English. My whole family is welsh, I just happened to have to be born there as that's the nearest hospital from mid Wales. It annoys me when people say the same about Ashley Williams and others. Williams has a welsh mum. Some have welsh grandparents so they have welsh blood in them. I bet beckhams kids don't call themselves Spanish American or wherever they were born. I bet people born to British families but born in Germany during the war don't call themselves Germans.

I think people who consider a player a prospect for Wales, who are listed as English on their club site, should say so in their thread about the player. There's a difference between this case and someone like Elliott Hewitt for example who is actually listed as Welsh and is Welsh through and through.

Next in line for a call up? 19 year old midfielder, regular for 2nd in league one Swindon Town. Actually signed to Norwich now but loaned back for the season.

That would be a nonsense ahead of Jazz Richards. Played all his development football - including Wales U21s as a central midfielder. Not ideal - but his tackling ability, good positional play and excellent distribution skills make him a legitimate option on the bench.

Yeah, I hope Jazz gets a call up now with Huws out.

I think that Jazz should have been called up but if this is about a replacement for Huws ie. a midfielder - I am not certain. How confident are we of him as a denfensive midfielder?

Maybe Richards is injured or turned down a call up, who know?
I would like to see Thompson figure for the u21s

He says he feels Welsh though.. he's been living here for almost 7 years now too.

He played on the right side of midfield, in front of Ben, for the last half an hour of the Croatia match. Unsurprisingly he didn't offer much going forwards - but nullified any threat from Croatia on the right. Both goals (and loads more near misses) came from the right - where there was acres of space to exploit. Not all the blame was Gunter's - he was given very little protection by the half-fit Bale, or from central midfield. The equalizer came from a failure of King's to close Lovren down.
If we're going to get anything out of tomorrow's match we really need to protect the right flank a lot better than we have done in the past. Whoever is on the right, Joniesta or Bale, or alternating, will have to be mindful of their defensive responsibilities.

Thompson is now finally breaking into an excellent Norwich team now with a couple of league appearences. He also played the full 90 in the away victory against a very strong Everton side in the league cup.

Played for Norwich against Leeds, article on Norwich forum which I accessed through dragonsoccer.
Could be the next person to make a breakthrough, personally would rather him than Crofts and possibly MacDonald and Huws at present.

Was doing well at Norwich this season and played a few games as a defensive midfielder but got injured. Has been confirmed today that unfortunately he has been ruled out for the rest of the season. Disappointing as if he'd been fit throughout he might have had a call up for March. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/38772531

... we should find out if he has the desire to play for Wales somewhere down the line. Is there any doubt? He's played 3 times for U19 and twice for U21s

Have no reason to doubt his commitment. Seems a switched on lad also. Really hoping he can fullfill his potential as he could be a very useful type of player to have and a type we might need squad wise in the near future.
