Yeah I think you're right. The only ones I'm not 100% sure of (the two fullbacks, Jones and Davies, and Pritchard in midfield) have Welsh names so it's pretty safe to assume they're Welsh too.
Good second half performance from Cardiff to come back and win 2-1. Rubin Colwill in particular looks a really promising player. Big, strong and skillful attacking midfielder with a good touch and decent shot on him. At one point he was surrounded by 3 Swansea players on the touchline but managed to dribble his way out of it and start an attack. One to look out for in future.

Colwill's only 18 as well, the strength being a recent development apparently It was a pretty young Cardiff team as well, I think Bodenham was the only one older than 20 which I think may be one of the reasons the U23s have been so poor this season. Taylor Jones for instance is only 17

I personally want Bellamy but don't think it would happen. Eddie Howe would be a dream appointment, but again think he might be too much of a big name. No idea who we will end up with

Not a Cardiff fan but I'm sad to see Neil Haris go as he actually showed some interest in developing youngsters. Also, look how many Welsh players were signed on his watch.
He even committed the club to play in the domestic Welsh league cup.
Last thing Wales needs is another Warnock type figure at the helm.

I think McCarthy will do well for them, good manager, no nonsense, sets high standards & gives clear instructions to his players, they'll know what he expects from them. Much safer and more sensible option than Bellamy

Would be great if they could get Bellamy in as an assistant with the understanding that he's being lined up for the manger role

Would be great if they could get Bellamy in as an assistant with the understanding that he's being lined up for the manger role I just couldn't see it happening, from my understanding of Bellamy's coaching, their view of the game is completely different. Cardiff are going to set up just like Ipswich, and Terry Connor will be his assistant. McCarthy has no desire to change anything about his management style, and it isn't going to be any different there.

Well, it depends on the aspirations of the club. Ipswich fans thought Mick McCarthy was shite whilst the perceived wisdom amongst fans in the wider football community seemed to be that he was the only thing standing between Ipswich and league one. And so it proved. I’ll bet Ipswich fans still regret the day he left. Cardiff will have loftier ambitions though so it’s an odd choice, for me. They seem to vacillate between the extremes of former players just turned manager and ancient dinosaurs. It doesn’t seem to be a position that they look like they put much thought or money into to get the best available at the time. IOW I don’t think they have made a marquee managerial signing since as long back as I can remember, someone like a Hughton or a Howe whose stock was high, for the championship at least.

I honestly thought Sparky would take the job, which admittedly isn't much better.

Several Welsh players in Cardiff's U23 squad for their match against Ipswich this afternoon, which is being streamed for free if anyone's interested.
Pritchard, Bowen, Denham, Bodenham, Colwill, Patten, Davies, Harris and Evans all start. Ratcliffe and Waite on the bench.
Colwill is the one to look out for - he's impressed McCarthy in training and was in the seniors' matchday squad on the weekend. He'll hopefully get a chance soon.
Evans, Davies and Patten have all been in matchday squads recently too. Bowen and Waite have recently returned from successful loans at Barry and Weston-super-Mare respectively.

Cardiff won 4-0 in the end. With Evans scoring one and Davies getting two. The U23s are so much more fun to watch than Cardiff's seniors! Really promising performances from a number of the Welsh boys. Hopefully Mick was watching.

I see no harm in throwing them in once survival is assured

Not only do Moore, Wilson & Vaulks all start for Cardiff
Harris, Ratcliffe, Colwill & Isaak Davies all make the bench. That's 7 Welshmen in the match day squad - the most it's been for a long long time! Very exciting to see, hopefully some of them make it on to the pitch today

7 Welsh players in Cardiff's squad today. Colwill, Davies and Ratcliffe named on a very young bench, as well Harris. Moore, Wilson and Vaulks start.
Only one established senior player on the bench so there's a decent chance at least one of the young Welsh lads gets on the pitch.
Edit: allez beat me to it.

3-0 up now, Moore with 2 goals. So we should see some subs coming in for the last 20

Colwill got about 30 seconds... I should have known better than to expect a dinosaur like McCarthy to give youngsters a chance. 3-0 up and players looking knackered but he doesn't give one a chance until stoppage time.

Mick McCarthy is on a short-term contract until the end of the season, his immediate priority is to win football matches, which he is doing. His view of how that would be achieved today was to play experienced Championship footballers in what was a slog for the whole of the 2nd half, 3-0 up or not. Personally I reckon the ‘dinosaur’ got it absolutely spot on.

His view of how that would be achieved today was to play experienced Championship footballers in what was a slog for the whole of the 2nd half, 3-0 up or not. Personally I reckon the ‘dinosaur’ got it absolutely spot on. His lack of proactivity with subs endangered the result more than it helped secure it. The entire outfield was absolutely knackered and that contributed to their goal, and we were under constant pressure for the last 20 because we were too tired to keep any controlled possession. We needed fresh legs. It was also a massive risk keeping Moore on for the full 90 seeing as he's the only out and out striker in the squad. Had he been injured in the last 20 when we were 3-0 up there would have been an uproar. There were also a couple of times where the ball broke to us and it was passed up for Kieffer to chase against one defender, but he had no legs left - had a fresh striker been on he could have outrun the last man and put the game to bed. Lucky for Mick it all worked out, but I'd argue it was terrible game management.
