With the mighty Wrexham been overrun by Hollywood stardom and Aaron and Robbie leaving Arsenal, I feel a lot closer now to purple than red ;-)

It's better, but would still rather see players that City have produced making it to the first team.

At a guess it was 2010/11 with Matthews, Bellamy, Blake and Koumas
EDIT: Or maybe 16/17 with Richards, Huws and John

Harry had at least three shots on target, but all either weak efforts or blocked. Vaulks also not shy to shoot from outside the box. City really should have won this

Under 23s recorded their first win today, 7 Welsh boys in the squad with 19 year old Isaak Davies scoring
Are Cardiff finally getting a bit more Welsh? Neil Harris seems more ready than Warnock to play youngsters with Joel Bagan featuring at left back the past 2 games as well as Mark Harris and Tavio D'Almeida being with the first team

Neil Harris seems more ready than Warnock to play youngsters with Joel Bagan featuring at left back the past 2 games as well as Mark Harris and Tavio D'Almeida being with the first team It certainly looks more promising than during the Warnock period, but he's only played Bagan out of necessity. Despite promoting Mark Harris to the first team he hasn't even been selected for a matchday squad yet this season. Nor has any other youth player except Bagan, who as I said was only given a chance out of complete necessity due to our other 2 LBs being injured. He's also shipped out probably our two most promising Welsh prospects, James Waite and Sam Bowen, on token loans to Weston-super-Mare and Barry respectively, that can't really be helping their development much. James Waite in particular looks like he'll now never get his chance with us, as he'll be 22 when he returns from his loan. Neil Harris is saying all the right things and talking about giving the youth a chance, but the proof is in the pudding and as it stands I don't think they'll get an opportunity until there's an injury crisis in their position. If we're being optimistic, maybe we could persuade ourselves that after bringing in Bagan and seeing him doing well, Harris might be more willing to give other youngsters a chance. Unfortunately, other than Mark Harris, there aren't many young Welsh players in the running at the moment (of those not out on loan). Kieron Evans, an 18 year old winger/attacking mid who played with the firsts in preseason, is probably the only one, but he has Wilson, Tomlin, Hoilett, Murphy, Ojo and probably Whyte in front of him. Not sure what happened to Mayembe, but he's been with U18s rather than the U23s this season, so can't see him being drafted into the first team (he'd have the same issue as Evans anyway, being a winger). I'm really disappointed about Bowen being shipped out on a meaningless loan, as we could do with shaking up our stagnant midfield and giving it an injection of youth.

Moore and Wilson starting for Cardiff in the Severnside Derby this evening. Vaulks on the bench.
Also, they just showed highlights of Bristol City's match midweek and Jay Dasilva got a goal and assist. It would be a real bonus if we could tempt him over to our side as he looks a really tidy player, and we could really do with some LWB depth.

I assumed Vaulks was injured and hence no call-up ...
But he is on the bench?

It’s a shame Cole isn’t of the same standard!

Lost 1-0.
Looks like they battered them as well.
17 shots against just 4.
5 on target versus just one for the Titties.

It’s a shame Cole isn’t of the same standard! He's only just too old to be picked for the England U21s (being 22). I'd imagine he'd be thinking if he can get into the Premier League with Bristol, or get a move, that he'd be in with a shout at playing for England. To be fair apart from Chilwell there isn't a lot of options for England so he could have a chance. If Saka progresses or someone else comes through and DaSilva's path is blocked, and he's 25/26 maybe then he'll consider us. Before then I'm not sure I can see it. At least while he has even an outside chance of playing for England

Here’s hoping that Evans lad gets his chance. It’s great to see the way Harris has stepped in and improved, hoping more can emulate it

If anyone wants a break from work this afternoon, Cardiff City are streaming the U23 South Wales Derby for free at 1. Thanks for that, an enjoyable game I think I'm right in saying 10 of Cardiff's starting 11 were Welsh? Ratcliffe, Jones, Davies, Bowen, Denham, Bodenham, Colwill, Pritchard, Davies, & Evans all Welsh whilst Roland Idowu is Irish?
